    I'm not sure why people take young unattentive children to something like this. They are a distraction to everyone else.

    This is completely false; I have been growing potatoes for over 25 years and use wood ash from my wood stove every year. There is this misconception that wood ashes magically raises the PH to crazy levels, not true. I will say there is a right and wrong way to use it though; do not use too much, if you sprinkle a half cup of wood ash in the soil for your potatoes, they will love the potassium. I would not use it on any type of berries especially blueberries.

    • @PatterningNature
      @PatterningNature 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      x2.... Wood ash is also a good composter, or additive in your soil when you are first prepping your gardens. Often times, wood ash can also be utilized to stop "potato beetles" from destroying your crops... It seems like they dislike the pH

      Polyface has a 24/7 open door policy. Visitors are welcome to explore the grounds. Joel has written about this in many of his books. We’ve been to the farm many times, and everyone there really welcomes and encourages you to explore and enjoy their beautiful farm. Also, here’s a clip from their website: “TRANSPARENCY: Anyone is welcome to visit the farm anytime. No trade secrets, no locked doors, every corner is camera-accessible.”

    how can his cow days per year be 400? there's only 365 days in a year?

    • @bjgarris
      @bjgarris 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s 400 cows not days

    • @northshoreireland1074
      @northshoreireland1074 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s cow days per acre. Meaning he could run 400 cows per acre for one day or a single cow could be sustained on slightly less than a acre for a year.

      Wait until you have kids, bud. You'll learn to cope. Ask your parents.

    • @davidhick4303
      @davidhick4303 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol I’m not your bud but funny how you already think you know me. FYI I already have kids and I love kids in general and am totally understanding when they are unmanageable. It’s just a little harder to sit through a long form instructional video where the child’s whining is louder than the instructor. Anyway if you saw my second comment you would give me a break.

    • @matt8miller
      @matt8miller 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidhick4303 I'm sorry I got you riled. I don't know you, and apparently we can't be buds. I made several inaccurate assumptions, to my great shame. I never read your second comment, and stumbled upon the first, which prompted me to attempt to ask you to give that poor kid a break. I now see that you, a grown man, deserve my compassion, and I have wronged you. A dutiful, understanding, patient father whose only trying to consume free information. You sir, have my sincere apology and profound respect. I will learn and grow from this interaction and learn to be more tolerant toward adults who have issue with finding audio and video content (for free) to which they are entitled. When I read your initial comment, I thought it was meant to be funny and ironic that you were whining about a child whining, and ruining your video experience. I should have realized you didn't deserve any lessons on tolerance, as you are likely surrounded by incredibly tolerant friends and family.
