Always giving the most satisfying quartet concerts
The Brentano string quartet is one of the topmost performing ensembles at this time. . Resident in the USA, has been resident string quartet of Princeton and Yale. They provided the sound for the popular movie "The late quartet" where they played the 14th Beethoven string quartet. They have travelled the world over, receiving excellent critics and public acclaim. The musical stature of the Brentano quartet is recognized, reaching perfect synchrony and warm sound. The quartet 13 is in reality two major works. Originally Beethoven conceived the Grosse Fuge as the last movement, but its enormous complexity and long duration made him play it as a separate opus (133). The grosse fugue is a monumental work, extraordinarily difficult for musicians of the time. Comparable to the hammerklavier, it predicts as a crystal ball the music of the XXth century. Thanks Brentano for this superb upload.
I f**king love Nina Lee! When I watch her play, the intensity it real! Nina plays no games, at all. My little one is learning cello now (I don't know what made her choose cello -- Im a violinist/violist) but I hope one day she becomes a mini Nina Lee!

I have heard the Brentano Quartet several times in their summer performances in Damariscotta, Maine. Great performers make great memories.
Excellently played, but as with a lot of MacMillan, he runs hot and cold - IMO, much of this is just tedium. shrugs

For those who like to use the internationally known Italian word ‘Bravo’ or variants such as ‘Bravissimo’, the following might be of interest. *Bravo* is masculine singular *Brava* is feminine singular *Bravi* is masculine plural *Brave* is feminine plural The same endings pattern is used with *bravissimo/a/i/e.* In the case of a mixed masculine and feminine group - as here with these players - you follow the masculine plural. In short, correctly it should be Bravissimi; by writing bravissima, you’re only congratulating a single female player (and pointedly excluding all the males).
