This one is lovely! So energized

I assume the reason why Arrow was never played in the 2000s by VdGG is probably only that it is one of the few on which HB plays not Organ but only Bass. Hand Bass that is. Arrow was at the beginning my least favourite track on Godbluff, but is one that still grows on me, and is meanwhile one of their best for me. Top 10 maybe, top 20 definitely.

Jesus, “Arrow” is a powerhouse! The faster tempo really gives it so much more intensity. Hammill’s screams are on point.

What a shame... surely it was a job done by far right thugs, maybe with the help from local mafia and even police provocateurs - at that time Gladio operations were at full throttle. Usually far left guys (called Autonomi) used to disrupt gigs, to not pay tickets.

Ok then, I compared this revised version with the tracks how they were put on the CD bootleg, and they simply solved the problem with the much too quiet parts (actually barely audible) by just editing them out. Ha ha, I should have realised that earlier, cause obviously Pilgrims starts directly with the vocals, misses the instrumental start, and the first lines of Undercover Man and Faint Heart were also cut out. And also most of the bridging section between Sleepwalkers and Undercover Man. So yes, my previous assumption was wrong, the setlist here is in the correct sequence, which is indeed a pretty unique one. The part in which PH tells the audience that the last 3 songs (played in a row) were Sleepwalkers, Undercover and Scorched is also missing. So the missing track separation on the bootleg was done there where tracks were played in a row (still not a good solution).

the concert was heavily disturbed by groups of people who wanted to enter without paying the ticket and, once inside, they continuously disturbed the group, even throwing objects on the stage. In the end the VDGG get into the truck and leave the Fair building, breaking through a gate with the sound of breaking glass.

A really good recording this one. It was always the standout from the CDs I have from this era.

CAPOLAVORO!!!!!

The Rimini version of Man-Erg used on The Box and on The Charisma Years is this one here from the afternoon show , the others are all taken from the evening show. I'm sure the band and Virgin had only the bootleg CD as source, cause that one contained the complete late show and as bonus also Man-Erg from the early show. Actually the complete afternoon show is the better recording, as the loudness problems are here less apparent, but unfortunately the background hum is also perfectly audible.

I also assumed for some time that the last 3 songs are in fact the first 3, but then, the aren't, they setlist is in the correct order? Sometimes VdGG did such things. On the bootleg CD several songs were not track-separated and they stayed with the cut version of Sleepwalkers, even if they could have instead used an uncut one from the afternoon show. This could have been the best of the VdGG 1975 audience recordings though, it has the clearest sound, but there are several parts which are much too silent and there is this constant background hum, and that is so distracting that I barely listened to this recording after I got so many others in a similar quality. Hmm, but listening to it now it seems the too-silent-parts-problem seems to be solved, at least to a certain extent, means without increasing the hum too much. I have to compare. But whatever, the show from the Imperial College 14.10.75 is the better choice anyway.

In the UK there are quite a few venues called the Corn Exchange, because that's literally what the buildings themselves used to be: corn markets. They tend to be quite large and centrally located in towns, so they converted well to music venues.

Merry Christmas and thank you so much for the work done to provide us with all these VdGG / Peter Hammill rarities. It is selfless and very much appreciated. By the way 1975 VdGG is my favorite period so these recordings are fabulous. Have a healthy and safe 2025.

I'm pretty sure the whole show was filmed, but only these 4 were aired. Maybe the rest of the show is still in the archives? The 4 songs here were not played in a row, and you can hear the start of Man-Erg before the broadcast fades. saw them a year later... I don't remember much. I was still a schoolkid. Only song I remember from the show is Still Life. I must have enjoyed it a lot. They had matured their prog rock sound, into something more earthed and sophisticated by this time. A unique sound. Real originals

The most perfect set list for that reunion concert, just missing 2 songs: Killer and Refugees and it would have been the perfect show ever!

An amazing set list that will totally disappear for the venue of the band one year later in Quebec...of course Lemmings will be finally be played because a fans folowing the tour asked for it nights after nights...but A Louse and Faint Heart never...Arrow was played in Trois-Rivières , the night after Montreal where the piano blew up during the beginning of the song! Amazing nights, anyway.... Sweet memories of a n incredible era !

So we have here the short Nadir's part of Urban with vocals, probably the only recording with the vocals. Too bad that they are barely audible.

I had this one with no intro before Undercover and this your version sounds slightly better, very nice one to have. I sometimes wonder what is the longest VDGG and PH solo concert was. This one is almost 2:15:00... Just curious.

This was recorded one month after my birth in a place I've never heard of. I had to check this guy out. The saxophones you know.
