Ha ha .. just found your channel I to have a nice gq patrol . And am building a vs v6 Commodore rally car.. have had a long line of comp cars over the years .. 1600 .stanza. Rx7 e30 BMW but budget at the moment it's a vs v6 .. definitely a very capable car in the right hands.. few engine options too. V6 is the lightest. And at a very reliable 250 to 280 rwhp is a good option.. cheap and a very solid platform... Look out I'm coming for you.... H a ha ha Enjoy the fun of it Hi from Queensland....

I have had my 1990 GQ 4.2 diesel 17 years I'm 62 years old but and so want to rebuild my old lady before I cark it😅 or she does😅 my question is would you be able to put me onto someone that does engine rebuilds I'm situated in the Yarra valley area best regards Barrie

I’m doing mine currently in new beige and what not, the badges came off with a heat gun(I used a hairdryer) small flat blade and a trim tool. Stick the screw driver in after heating, then with the gap place the trim tool and leave it and work it out with the heat and flat blade

Nice truck and awesome upgrades. Sorry to be a nuisance but do you know how wide those flares are from the guard to the outside of the flare? I've got a 1991 GQ almost identical but a two inch lift, same tyres and rims. In NZ it's not legal without flares that cover the whole tyre.
Thanks mate, not sure on the exact width of the flares but they are the standard size 'kut snake' flares. They are wider than the tyres so they are fully covered. We go through fitting the flares to the car in ep 6 as well if you are interested 🙂
What size tyres and rim offset?
Sorry not sure on the offset, they were on the car when I bought it. Tyres are 33/12.5/15

FYI, Your Bumpstop in the front are fucked mate. If you google OEM Bumpstops, they are supposed to have more material under them.

What sort of caster correction? I just brought a 3 inch lift kit too but it's got drop boxes
It already had corrected bushes from the old lift. Will get around to replacing them at some point but they’re doing the job for the moment and not cracked or split yet.

i would of left the grill chrome because it makes it look clean
I agree with the clean look, but have had the chrome a while and wanted to mix it up a little. Stay tuned for episode 5 where we paint the grill and let me know what you think.
Next time... if you thin it down 20% or more and feed it with a top gun and 1.8mm-2mm tip you can get it coming out nice and smooth ish and goes futher. But if you're after that full bed liner style then that's perfect
Thanks, yeah I'm after the bed liner style to avoid as much paint scratches and things as possible. I know there are other paint guns to use but we were trying to do it as low cost as we could so using the one it came with seemed like a good idea. Thanks for the advice for the future though if we redo it one day

That fan you added isn't gonna help. You need to change the viscous fan on the engine. Or re oil it
always wanted one of these after helping restore one at work but ended up getting a discovery 1 and am now restoring that for myself instead
