I'm an engineer on the Catalina Express boats that take you to the island. Been meaning to take bike over there. Did they make you remove your battery on ride over? Did anyone on the island give you any crap?
I was on this group ride. We read the ebike guidelines, so we removed our batteries ahead of time and loaded them in our luggage. No one was giving us crap on the island, especially since we bought bike passes, but the 8 of us cruising around did attract some attention from tourists and locals alike.

Onyx RCR are a few guys building bikes in a garage. No wonder they are expensive. Some people have wrecked theirs and nobody will work on them, You have NO support. They are basically history.
...and here we are a year after your comment, and Onyx is producing more bikes than ever. It's not much more expensive than your Ariel Rider, and performs way better on all fronts.
@@slothlife380 The only problem is you can't use the RCR on the bike trails. I have a real motorcycle for the streets. A Kawasaki Z900. It will suck the paint off a a wimpy RCR. If I want an electric motorcycle I will get a Livewire, Zero or even a Metacycle.
@@dennismau9103 Livewire and Zero are 3x the price of an RCR, and Sondors isn't even out yet if ever. Your decision was to spend 1/2 the price of an RCR for 1/3 of the bike? This is the Ariel Rider rider logic, got it. There are better ebikes for trails than AR, but different strokes for different folks.
@@slothlife380 I would never buy an RCR because unlike a S73 or AR, you can't ride them on sidewalks and bike trails. You lose versatility and the RCR is not really legal on the street, so where do you ride it? IMO, you either have an ebike or electric motorcycle.
