Scale modelling is my hobby and my passion. My aim on this channel is to give you feedback on my builds, point out any issues or perhaps give some helpful tips along the way, that may help you decide whether to buy that kit or pass. I'm not a professional, but hopefully I can teach new modellers some things to help them in the hobby. Or if you just like to see how that kit turns out. I will also do a lot of out of box reviews on kits. Cheers.
1/72 Modelsvit Mirage IIIO Build Pt.3
Some more done on this, it's shaping up to a disappointing kit with the flash and fit issues. At the end of this video it is almost ready for priming.

Getting some more done on the Mirage, engine and cockpit are painted up and installed. Fuselage halves are together and glued to the main wing, it's not all smooth sailing due to flash and some small fit issues.

Have a great paint job. 🖌
These stencils would have saved me a lot of brush painting molting on my 1/32 Bf-109. I'm going to have to see if these or similar are available in Canada.
You can get specific stencils for the German mottle, I think Airwaves make some
@@grant6336 thanks I'll have a look around my hobby shops
Cool
You need to do something about the light glare washing out the instructions manuals segments of your videos
MiG-21 series from Eduard is wonderful! Looking forward to the build!
I watched a number of videos with people using these on variouse aircraft. I wasnt even aware of them till a couple of months back. So thank you for these review. And i like that thier vinyl instead of metal. Plan to source some myself now.
What a beauty. I’d love to do it in the Czechoslovak scheme but I know I’ll end up going for one of the camo ones. All my attempts at bare metal MIG 21s end up looking cartoonishly like something out of the ‘Thunderbirds’. Realistic bare metal paint schemes on second gen jets is just something I’ve always struggled with.
@@JamesWard-d1h my second choice would be the Egyptian scheme 👍
Thanks👍🏼🍻😃
@@NielsenDK-1 no worries 👍
It's better if it can offer the landing gear bay door of flying mode(like hasegawa)
👍👍
Amazon sells, from many suppliers. Cost up and down, all one chinese manufacturer.
Regarding the wing root gap, how about a thin strip of styrene sheet?
That may work, but just a bit of fettling will get it there I think. Next session
Su-35S from GWH is wonderful. But the weapons are old, so need to be replaced by new ones actually using by VKS now.
Really? I'll have a look when I get to the build
@@grant6336 yes. R-27, R-73, R-77, KAB-500L/KR, KAB-1500L/KR are obsoleted as per year 2020. There are R-77-1, R-74M-2, R-37M AAMS, Kh-69 ALCM, Kh-67/67P Grom-1/2 modular munition (Russian JSOW), Kh-31PD/PM ARMs are used instead. The standard loadout for patrol over Ukraine is: 2 x L-256 Khibiny-10U AAMs jamming pods on the wing tips (absent in kit, L-150 Sorbtsiya-S are given instead which is used on old Su-27 only) 2 x R-74M-2 SRAAMs (absent in kit, older R-73RMD-1 are given) next outer positions under wing on APU-73 launchers (present in kit) 2 x R-77-1 MRAAMs (absent in kit, older R-77 are given) on middle wing weapons stations on AKU-170 catapult launchers (present in kit) 2 x Kh-31PM ARMs (absent in kit, old Kh-31P are given) on the innermost wing weapon stations on AKU-58U catapult launchers (present in kit) 2 x R-77-1 MRAAMs (absent in kit, older R-77 are given) on stations under air intakes on AKU-170 catapult launchers (present in kit) 2 x R-37M LRAAMs on stations under the belly on AKU-720 catapult launchers (both absent in kit) There are a bunch of Russian aftermarket companies that do all of the weapons and their launchers in the list.
Really cool. 🛠
Cool. 👍
Perfect 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks mate 👍
looks like a modern drone. Cool! Love the paint work!
@paulmanuse2353 Thanks Paul 👍
Very cool I love it! JC : )
Thanks JC 👍
Well done mate , great use of the new pens i reckon !!!
Thanks Norm 👍
Looks cool.
Seen a couple reviews of this and similar one from miro mark. Havent pulled the trigger myself.....yet
It's one of those tools, it's not a necessity but can make life easier in some areas of a build.
Ha! I know what kit it is....still waiting on mine from LuckyModel...might take a year or century. Its a handy little sander, I used it for doing the stressed skin on my CH-53E
Shhhh! No telling what it is 😆
I just got one as well. It is three speed, you just have to fiddle with the button for a second to get it to change. At least you read the instructions... I got mine on Amazon for $58 USD. So far it seems to be a decent tool for those small, tight sanding jobs. We'll see as time goes on. I'm cautiously optimistic.
Yes, during my video I uncovered the 3 speeds, however mine is a bit different, if I hold it a second it will turn off, very quick taps when on seems to work. I think they could have done it better with a switch that pushed up and down for the settings IMO
@@grant6336 Agreed. A better speed control would be good.
Nice job on the review. I am planning on getting this kit and build as the pacific theme. Cheers!
@@paulsawyer2326 No worries 👍
Have a great build.
I have the 1/72 version of this model. It's a very nice kit. Rafael is Israel's domestic high-tech weapons company. The Shafrir was a clone of the early Sidewinder, but with slightly less range in the earliest versions. It, like the Sidewinder, got better with each new variant. It was ultimately replaced by the Python series starting around 1980.
I've seen the 1/72 one was available, but I hoped they would do it 1/48 one day.
Ha! I just bought this - I have the normal tail HG III which you built. But this looks smarter...good review!
Thanks Chris, I think you will enjoy this build and it should be good for your inflight display 👍
Cool model. 🛩
Very different as well 👍
Yes it's the North American B-45 Tornado bomber. Introduced way too late for World War II. They were deployed to Sculthorpe RAF base in 1952 and then withdrawn from service in the late 50s. Been waiting forever for somebody to do a 1/48 kit of the B-45. Back to this kit though. It looks really cool for a 1946 what if jet.
I think you will be waiting a long time for a 1/48 B-45, great looking aircraft but I can't see anyone doing it in this scale. Valom's series of 1/72 variants may be the only way to go
Hey mate. Probably needed to drop an f-stop or two, exposure is blowing out a bit.
I've built Tamiya's old Wildcat a couple of times. On the shelf I have a Hobby Boss wildcat as well as Eduard F4F-4 wildcat, a couple of them. But I don't have an Academy version. It looks pretty nice. Bet it's cheaper than Eduard version, though their kit has a lot detail.
Yeah there are plenty to choose from, depends which one you want at the end of the day
Very cool aircraft. Looking forward to the build videos. I think a "what if" build using the operational tri-color scheme and alternate decals would be great. Maybe marked from VF-17, the original Jolly Rogers?
Sorry, the video images seem to be out of focus
I don't know? I've skimmed through it and it looks ok to me
The depth of field does appear to wander on my phone and when cast to my 55-inch television.
@@Chilly_Billy Ok, I don't know then, it's the same process I do for every other video
@@grant6336 I know, your videos are normally well-focused. Maybe a camera problem?
You could do the Vengeance as a shot down or battle damage airfield diorama
Not what I had in mind for it, and I have the resin figures I bought for it, I'll just buy another kit down the track.
@@grant6336 it is an interesting and often forgotten plane of WW2
@@5EyesIsntWatching Probably because the Americans didn't use it, and it's not as attractive as some other aircraft.
Now I want one - good to see there's a mask set included too, and it looks like, except for no pilot, wheels up shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the review Grant!
No worries, just don't get in from Lucky Model!
This looks good. Are you building it in the near future?😃
Quite possibly, this kit looks fantastic 👍
I think the pilot (McCuskey) is different from the Midway pilot...who was MCClusky (unless it's an Academy typo!). He was in SBD not TBD..........the TBDs were all shot down without inflicting any damage....
Ahh, similar name, I also realised that he couldn't fly both Wildcat and SBD after the fact 😁
Amazing work!!
Thanks Paul 👍
Truly nice build…I am waiting for a similar kit to arrive !
Thanks mate 👍 Enjoy your build!
Yikes….So where are you going to put it….its huge? Come up well though..it’s a a hard colour to represent in scale.
I'm not putting it anywhere, I've sold it already 👍
Looks good. I built the U2 in 1/48 a few years back, and I think it was a Testors kit. Wasn't a bad kit.
Thanks Paul 👍
Nice build mate!
Thanks mate 👍
Have a great build.
Really cool model. I'm a new Sub on your channel. 👍
It's a bit different to the norm, just hard to handle in this scale. Thanks for watching 👍

Baby palm trees : cute !
I’m building this kit now in the Gulf War scheme. It’s typical modern Airfix - good but not great. The injector pin marks in the cockpit that you pointed out are inconveniently placed and need sanding. The intakes in steps 69 & 70 don’t sit flush and require some filling and sanding. Also the top of part B15 to be placed in the bomb bay needs considerable sanding to get the belly (F25) to sit flush. The pilots provided look like something moulded in the 1960s. Anyway, good review. It’s a damn good looking aircraft.
Thanks for the feedback Anthony 👍 Not as good as the Gannett by the sounds of it
@@grant6336no worries, I haven’t built the Gannet, but seen the reviews that it’s very good. I picked up the Buccaneer from Frontline for $100 when it was on sale.
Looks great, really like the little diorama layout. It more or less exactly what I'm planning for my corsair build I'm working. Your plan trees are great. Thanks for the video
Thanks Bob 👍
Amazing looking display. I'm currently building your favorite kit lol the 1/32 Trumpeter Corsair.
The F4U-1D?
@@grant6336 yup lol.
@@5EyesIsntWatching It's much fun.....
@@grant6336 lol I'm enjoying it, I knew what I was in for after watching your build. Biggest hurdle is deciding to use the US markings or do it up as a RN bird.
