realistic week for me, life with autism ♡ autism acceptance month
hihi this is a very personal and vulnerable video, but I want people to know the realities of my life and that there's more to someone's life than what you see on social media. At the start of Autism Acceptance month I had a discussion with a mom of an autistic son, and she argued that 'too many people are diagnosed with autism' and that the people she saw on social media are 'not the same' as her high support needs son. I explained that you don't know what someone is going through behind closed doors! I might not be the same as her son, but that doesn't mean I don't have autism and it doesn't affect my entire being and life.

I can relate to a lot of things, honestly... (too many to even comment on it tbh hihi) Thank you for sharing, Nia! ♡ It feels nice to know that we're not alone.
I will say that the most difficult thing for me nowadays is the grieving (and also, autistic burnout, always). Grieving the life I can't seem to have because I'm not made for a traditional job/life, it's so scary. I'm currently working full time (paid internship) and I'm barely surviving. I'm happy that you took the decision to do what's best for you ♡ I hope I can find a way to do the same soon.
@@myhauntedheights I totally get this 🤎 I'm trying really hard not to compare myself to others, I talked about my sister but I do this with all of my family members... convinced everyone else is doing better than I am and wishing I could do what they do. But we're special and are needed in this world in our own ways 🌻

You have a new subscriber in me. I am on my journey of self realization I guess. I've been thinking I probably have autism since November and it's now September, wow, it'll b a year soon. I got the book unmasking autism from the library, loved it. I did a bunch of online tests and looked into the idea of getting assessed but I have to do it private so it's way out of my budget, no chance to now anyway. It's frustrating because I sometimes feel sure that I am autistic but other times I'll have doubts.
