FAQ:
» What brushes do you use?
I practically just use the default brushes of Krita, there are only two exceptions, a pencil-like brush that I use for sketching, that one is only a slight edit on the pressure of one of the defaults (Pencil-3 Large 4B), and a flat brush that also started as a default brush that I keep changing to my liking (basically Bristle-5 Flat but adapted to the Color Smudge Engine).
» Where do you have your references?
I use a different program called PureRef, it lets you keep an always on top window, it's incredibly useful!
» How to have a second view for the drawing on Krita?
You need to have the sub-window mode activated (Settings → Configure Krita → General → Window → Multiple Document Mode), then go to Window → New View and there you select the already open file.
» What canvas size do you use?
I usually stay in a range of 2500px to 4000px.

      I don't really have a question but: Could you make a kind of tutorial on how you do this?! I am just curious and i really want to learn TvT Like, what brushes do you recommend? What do you do first? How do you choose shading color? How do you even do gradients on krita!? I did not know you even could do that! But it was hard to see in the speed paint so a tutorial would really help :)

    • @naiyenzo
      @naiyenzo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aliencatastrophe Hello! Well, as you may have noticed I'm not very fast at making videos, and there are some things I want to concentrate on in the coming months, so I can't promise I will be able to do it soon. I am also not very confident at teaching, I feel there are a lot of things I still need to learn, so I'm not sure. Even so, I'm very flattered and I want to answer what I can now. What brushes do you recommend? I recommend playing with different brushes and different settings for them and taking note of what you feel more comfortable with, but I have always loved flat brushes, they give more interesting and varied shapes, so any flat brush with blending works fine for me, I also prefer more define, less texturized brushes, maybe just because they are easier to handle. What do you do first? Not sure what you want to know exactly but I always like to have a sketch coloured and shadowed, where I can check all the information I will be working with (colours, composition, values) and also be able to make changes easily. You can be better than me and make various thumbnails where you can check all that, individually or together. How do you choose shading colour? I'm sorry if I don't have a good answer for this, apart from basic colour theory I tend to go by my gut with colours. But a direct option is to make the shadow the complementary colour of the source light colour, but in case something feels weird you can always play with the shadow hue in HSV/HSL Adjustment (ctrl+u) and check what looks nice. Oh, I also want to tell you just in case, shadow may not always be a single colour but a gradient of different colours, when taking into account things like surface scattering and bounce light. How do you do gradients on krita? If you mean just gradients, with the Gradient Tool, and you can change colours in the top bar. If you mean gradient maps then Filter → Map → Gradient Map. Sorry for the long message but I hope it is useful, sorry I can't do more rigth now.

      Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. If you don't mind I'll answer the question anyways with a response I give someone before: I practically just use the default brushes of Krita, there are only two exceptions, a pencil-like brush that I use for sketching, that one is only a slight edition on the pressure of one of the defaults, and a flat brush that also started as a default brush that I keep changing to my liking.

      Thank you! Painting is hard, it honors me that you find inspiration in my process.
