TONE DEMO - Gretsch G2220 Junior Jet II Short-Scale Bass [Sound Test Video] - headphones recommended
As stated in my unboxing video, here is the demo video featuring 12 different tones from my Gretsch G2220 Short Scale Bass.
Headphones/earbuds recommended for better listening quality.
What do you think? Constructive criticism welcomed.
▼ Bass Notes ▼
► Features:
» synthetic bone nut
» die cast tuners
» maple neck with a walnut fret board
» 20 medium jumbo frets
» a standard 4 saddle bridge
► FYI:
» advertised as 2 passive duel coil mini Humbucking Pickups but are actually single coils controlled by a Master Volume, Master Tone and a 3-way pickup selector switch
I recently learned that the pickups in these basses are single coils, not Humbuckers. While finding this out was a bit of a letdown, I still think this bass has some great tones.

BASS REVEAL - Gretsch G2220 Junior Jet II Short-Scale Bass in Walnut Stain [Unboxing Video]
มุมมอง 5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Excited to share this bass unboxing for 2 reasons: 1. Ordered a new "toy" for my arsenal that's unlike any of the others (20 tbh) and 2. Having my unboxing recorded for the very first time. How'd I do? ▼ Bass Notes ▼ ► Facts: » First short scale basses (the "Mustangs") were created by Fender in 1966 » Gained attention past 10 -15 years with various versions produced by Music Man and Gretsch » F...

    I had one of those. I didn't like it. I tried to, but I just couldn't. It's too short of scale, and it makes the strings too flubby. The pickups are single coils, not humbucking.

      It's 60 cycle hum, those pickups look like humbuckers but are really single coils...and what's more, they're both bridge position pickups so you don't even get the hum cancelling that you would like on a jazz bass when both the neck and bridge pickups are on

    Great demo vid. I've just put my month old Ibanez TMB30 up for sale because of coming across this several times on TH-cam and loving the sound and aesthetics more.

    Mate great video, thanks for doing this. I'm actually a drummer but old age and arthritis are conspiring to put an end to that...hand pain is a constant these days. Looking at getting a bass to learn on as I don't want to quit music and the bass seems like way less impact on the hands. Loving the sounds you're getting out of this Gretsch. Cheers.

    I am a new bassist, and i can’t choose, between the Yamaha tbrx304, the ibanez 200 series and this one. I heard the bassist of Royal Blood plays this bass. It’s in my price range and hearing that an actual rockstar plays it on 100s of gigs made me really intrigued! Do you recommend it for someone who is into rock and metal sounds/ distortion?

    • @j.rhodes1025
      @j.rhodes1025 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the Royal Blood bassist/singer plays this model but I've also seen him with a Fender short scale bass too. I would recommend this bass for standard tuning rock and drop D tuning. But if you're playing drop tuned metal personally I would look elsewhere. Best of luck on your bass journey✌

    In your other video, you say those are dual coil mini humbuckers. Gretsch and Fender are in a bit of a scandal over this bass right now because, while this model is marketed as having dual coil mini humbuckers, it’s been proven that each one is a single coil- not a humbucker.

      @j.rhodes1025 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you are right, I learned this after the release of my unboxing video and have changed the "features" part in the text of my video about the pickups. It seems the bass review world here on TH-cam is all a "buzz" about this lately LOL. Thank you for chiming in with your comment Julian, I do appreciate it!!
