MacPherson indeed and the 2nd tune is The Brolum.Often played by Jim MacLeod.3th tune I can't remember,but the last tune is the Itchy Fingers,if I'm right.Mention some titles of material I never look things up.Everyone can do so, so I 'm testing my memory.only...Sadly I don't posses any database,have recordings only. And I forget some titles of tunes but..thanks heaven...I NEVER forget the melodies of the tunes!!Brought up in class music,but Scottish/Irish is "mainstream"to me!! Although..SDM IS classical.!!!!! I 've been in contact with BBC RS for some 12 years,sending comments of the SDB sessions to Robbie.Sadly he passed away the 1st of August past year.My very best friend I lost!!!!!!!!..(.......................................)Can't get over it! Robbie knew I was the only and first "ambassador for SDM in Holland(Music only,that is).You can ask Jennifer from TTF, she can tell you more.although she doesn't know my username.She knows my favourite bands and contacted me,when one of these bands was due for a session.

At times confusing...Leonard Brown or Laird Brown ( the latter related to Canadian Bobbie Brown and his "Scottish Accent".) His pianist had produced some LP's under the title of "Stan Hamilton And The Clansmen".Later he was adviced by his producers to change that "Clansmen"because it reminded too much of the KuKluxKLAN,...hence today.."SH and The Flying Scotsmen.".

Strip the Willow! A dance where all the boys birled the girls with a wee bit more energy than was necessary. It was a great favourite especially at the end of the night.

Hey.....again Shand's Gowan Hills. as intro tune.Followed by River Quee... Lemonville Jig....Murray River.The 2 last tunes being Canadians,Hayes(not sure) and Graham Townsend (sure) I didnt look up a thing.Letting speak my memory.Names and origines can be leave my memory,but the Melodies of the tunes,will NEVER leave my brain.And the tunes are the best thing of my life. Compliments to Frank's Band for the great collection of material played.❤❤❤❤❤

2nd tune is a popular cracker....The Soldiers Joy.Often played in an Eightsome compilation. Another tune is called"The Sailors Wife" and often headed under the title "The Leith Country Dance",a Gow composition.As so many oldies..today rarely played.

There are lots of Scottish Dance Bands,having their own features, whatever they are.Although, Alan Kindness,leader of the Glendaruel SDB,once said.."Today's SDB's have lost their individual style of playing"".However...The Iain McPhailband have all of those features IN ONE! The most versatile band EVER.And Iain is very appreciative wenn dealing with the younger today's Ceilidh Bands.

Well known material played,although long hidden away and locked up in the UK (Not elsewhere!!).Especially the "Mount Stuart House"tune. This happened a lot during the milennium period.And I know what was behind!! BBC wanted to get rid of the accordion(bands) but in the end they've lost the battle!Thanks Heaven!!

I still have got a classic recording of this tune by the BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra(leader Dennis McConnel,conductor Jack Leon,operating 1949 till mid60s) I still am searching for more material of them.But ...most has been destroyed by BBC themselves(!!!!!)If interested,I can give an explanation to that.(promoting their Celtic Connections,or...Celtic Confectionaries,als called in initiated circles) The other tunes played here are the overpopular Soldiers Joy,Kate Dalrymple,Davie Knick knack .Kate Dalrymple always was the opening tune of Scottish Dance programmes in the UK,not in de USA,Canada,Australien and New Zealand.

Again a Slow Air Strathspey. Wonderful melodies they have. I myself started SDB listening the early 50s.And lately I came to prefer the ceilidh.My current top bands? Allie MacCuish,Tom Orr,GORDON Shand, David Kennedy and Craig Paton.Today all part of the Haggish Chasers.
