Great tunes.Among them Peter Woods "The Inside Out Fish Eater"
Can you tell me which CD this music is from so I can buy this for my Dance Group? Thanks.
Hi there the tune is called The White Cockade, by Jim Lindsay. The Reel of The Puffins CD.
Good band. They played a tune by Addie Harper SNR of the Wick Band
Great playing.Pity, that the recording ends during Dave Richardson's MacArthur Road. One of the best later compositions in the scene.
If I danced that strathspey I would get lost or get mixed up
@@forbeswatson I always get lost the first time through 😂
I love all the dances and tunes but this is my overall favourite
Great playing and so many tunes!
This is sweet
Another great video - The lass with the pony tail in the blue jumper - Is she the ring leader ?
Intro tune is Gowan Hills by Shand.
0:13 is when it starts (for taking notes)
I can trim it if it’s better
@@ScottishCountryDancingno no it’s fine
That was odd, but strangely compelling.
@@PBPJWD LOL 😂
Very nice!
Eddie West was a very keen dancer and devisor. He danced at Kamo club for many years.
So talented all of them - and giving us a lot of pleasure allowing us to view
Lots of fun to practice 🎉
Great to see Kamo Karasol being enjoyed. Kamo is our club in Whangarei NZ and written by Eddie West.
So is that one of your members/teachers who devised the dance? 🎉
Exactly one year back Aberdeen Robbie passed away.Great loss for me and so many others, for we were acquainted.Have got 100s of tapes of Take The Floor.
Intro tune Gow's Bob Sanders.
Good finishing mit Rankine's "The weaver And His Wife".
Frank Thomson...if I remember correctly....an Aberdeen Band just like Graham Geddes.Wonderful playing.
Traditionally this is a dance for Men only. It was invented by prisoners of War during WW2. The 51st Highland Division was left behind to cover the Allied evacuation at Dunkirk in 1940 and most of it was captured by Rommel's Panzer corps. The dance was performed to relieve boredom in the POW camps 's
@@jimpomac thanks for the history, I had heard a bit of that 👍🏼
Very nice dance, great dancers and music. Thank you, nice start to my day. Name of the dance ?
It's actually called 'Rafford Country Dancers' and was written by the class teacher Christine Grant.
@@ScottishCountryDancingThank you very much, it really is a very nice dance. I teach a group of Scottish Country Dancers in Mount Forest, Ontario Canada. I came from Edinburgh about twenty five years ago. Best wishes to the Rafford dancers.
@@elizabethghent194 Best wishes to all you dancers in Ontario! :D
Love this ,And a great way to stay fit
It really is!
This is endearing. I would like to learn it with my grandchildren. But would I need to make kilts for the boys?
Kilts are not compulsory, especially not in classes which are normally casual attire 😊

Great music, sounds like the tunes for dancing Trip to Bavaria. a great favourite. Thank you!
We have Trip to Bavaria in another video!
Oh them golden slippers
What be the name of that tune ?
@@williamf4544 sorry I don’t know
The Tushkar, ? , Spootiskerry , Robertsons Reel ……I think.
@@californiadreamin8423 the second tune is the one Ewan Galloway wrote to celebrate our teacher’s birthday at this dance! Christine’s Reel or something like that! (I’ll check the name) 🤩
@@ScottishCountryDancing I suspected it was. Thanks. Pity I can’t play like him !!
@@californiadreamin8423Christine Grant’s reel
@@ScottishCountryDancing Thanks encore.
Love it 👍😊
Fantastic Rankine medley!❤❤❤❤
Fantastic videos but.....again a slow-air strathspey.....please..ring the change.
Thank you so much - A breath of fresh air in these troubling time
Scottish country dancing is good for the brain. Having to remember where you're supposed to be during the dance, must surely help in keeping dementia away (lol)
@@lindabrown0 I’m hoping that will be the case 🤩

Uncle Tam's Hunting Horn( Ian Monroe) rarely played, one of Jim Johnstone and 2 Canadians(Murray River and Lemonville Jig)All bright and breezy material.Well done!
Thanks for sharing this. It looks like fun.
It was!
Look's like fun!
Great fun of course, shame we can also not see the band. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜
@@XavierRadić_NZL some videos I have pointing the other way but the band are tiny there too, you’re right we need all the cameras!
@@ScottishCountryDancing Cameras need to be on tripods close to/on dance floor for correct perspective and microphones close to band for better sound quality/tone. 💜💜Good luck.
My wife and I went a dance class supposed to beginners no, we were getting so mixed up with where we were going.
@@forbeswatsonaww it does take a while to get the hang of it but stick with it! 😊 find a friendly class that doesn’t mind if you go wrong ❤
@@forbeswatson it is a challenge to get the hang of but then so rewarding once you get some of the formations and start to see the patterns. Perhaps you started midway through the term? Keep at it if you still fancy it 😀
Beautiful and so cheerful! I also want to learn this.
Go for it! It's a lovely fun dance :D
Absolutely love music selection tunes chosen. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜
Tempo/beat choices make strathspey like oldtime swing...!! 💜💜
❤❤❤lovely
'Trip to Bavaria', is a great dance. Not easy trying to dance on any outdoor surface, such as grass or tarmac. etc., give me a sprung wooden floor always! Take care & stay safe. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜 (NB: I have been SCD dancing/tutoring 65+ years.)
Hello from Scotland 🏴 You are so right, they did great! 🎉 thanks for your comment ❤
