Traditionally this is a dance for Men only. It was invented by prisoners of War during WW2. The 51st Highland Division was left behind to cover the Allied evacuation at Dunkirk in 1940 and most of it was captured by Rommel's Panzer corps. Scottish country dancing is good for the brain. Having to remember where you're supposed to be during the dance, must surely help in keeping dementia away (lol)
