Awesome video!! What sites did you stay at? Did you do the sandpit and tin can Mike portages? I’m heading there in a week
@@nmoretterbue Thanks! We stayed at the Tin Can Mike Lake site! There’s 3 on that lake and our site was the only one on the east side of the lake just before the portage to Horse Lake! I’m sure you’ll have fun if it’s not 90 degrees with 90% humidity and thunderstorms 😂 just be ready for those portages tho! They’re nothing nice! Extremely rocky and steep!
Oh sorry! Yes, we went Mudro to Sandpit to Tin Can Mike!
i was at tin can mike lake back in 1982.. long time ago. .i remember it was end of june and cloudy day .. i had the best fishing day of my entire life that day on tin can mike. we were catching smallmouth and tons of northern on red/white hula poppers.. never forget that day...
Hey there. What are the 2 lakes where that campsite is by the portage? A fun video, thank you @On Trail 82.
@@AJKPenguin Thanks! Pretty sure that was between Fourtown and Horse lakes! It was a gorgeous spot! Shocked nobody was there!?
No offense to others with video's like this in northern Mn but nice to see it wasn't a big production of cooking some kind of "master meal" when camping. I'm very familiar with those maps snowmobilng in that area. Delorme also had very detailed maps up there.
What does the "82" signify in your channel name?
@@shannonmcdonough6052 the year I was born
The best trail I ever seen
😮😎
Love this song! I can’t find it, I’m pretty sure it’s called Life is Good, but who’s the artist?
@@JenKPadilla the hunts lol
This one was CRAZY! Good edit buddy! We won't soon forget this night.
@@BackpackingwithBuckley I’m just glad nobody got struck by lightning 😂 good times man
Beautiful Adventure🌲 I’ve been to the fire tower a few times over the years…best information I’ve found states that it was in use up until 1990 and remains for emergency use. It’s also listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.
Great video! Makes me want to take a road trip to the Badlands. Even though I've been there six times. 😅
@@sherryonthetrail oh wow! That’s a lot of times!? I can see why though! lol
Crack them storm beers boys
Glad you didn't get washed away man
@@donaldwalentiny3633 right? Watch Buckleys video and you see me planning where to place my tent just in case of a washout 😂
@@Ontrail82 yeah I saw that one first that was like damn. Can't wait for your video. It did not disappoint LOL
Do you NEED a high clearance vehicle for this area? Would my AWD Rav4 make it?
Most places I’d say yes you’d be fine. There is a difference between 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive so look it up beforehand…deeper mud puddles I’d avoid if I were you but most forest roads I’d say you’re fine to explore in that! I see a lot of Subaru all wheel drive cars out there that seem to do ok.
Wow what wild storm lol Great spot though nice and peaceful away from everyone and what an awesome sunset
You got to see Buffalo 🎉, lol. Love national parks but they always get so busy by 11 am. I want to see Sequoia this summer, but don't know if it's happening yet.
@@WanderingWiley yeah the worst part of National Parks unfortunately are all the people. I usually try and mentally prepare myself but it only lasts to a certain point with me 🤷🏼♂️ lol
How is the fishing on that lake?
Beautiful Badlands!! You had such pretty fluffy clouds…I was there mid June it was 85 degrees I hiked less than 5 miles and was miserable lol I usually visit in late April or early May when the temps are better for hiking and way less people!! Glad you found the buffalo🦬
@@kristalann1973 that sounds wonderful to go there multiple times! You must live close! lol
@@Ontrail82 Nope but I love The Black Hills and I go hiking out there several times a year so I usually enjoy one day in The Badlands on my way there🌲
I was watching a Disney world video and this came across at the bottom. Lovely video. You got a new subscriber.
@@mike28113 oh wow that’s super random! Well thanks for the compliment! Hope you like outdoors videos because I’m out pretty much every week! 🥾🏕️
@@Ontrail82 yes I love nature and the great outdoors. Have you did the camp out video
@@mike28113 yep! It’s out tomorrow morning 6am!
You made some bold moves on some of those little rodges man! Really well done on this video. I like this park! Nice shirt too.
@@BackpackingwithBuckley thanks! I’m glad I was able to make it out to see you and Mike! I’ve been itching to get out there with you guys! A trip I’ll never forget that’s for sure! lol
My wife yells at me every time I go out on some sketchy places like you did but so worth it LOL
@@donaldwalentiny3633 hahaha it is tho! 🤣 it’s the good views 😎 lol
you got to see some cool areas even if they didnt pan out
@@WanderingWiley that’s how I looked at it! Didn’t mind driving home after a full day of exploring cool places! 👌🏼
Bummer you couldn’t find a spot. Can’t win ‘em all I guess. What was the name of the free campground you drove to? Also, what was the name of the pay campground on the other side of it.
@@larryhanson3856 thanks! I believe it was Mable Lake where the two campgrounds were! Pretty sure it was just Mable Lake campground. Both area were beautiful!
That's weird. You would never think in a place like that it would be inundated with mosquitoes and flies 😝. In the Forest roads in the mountains out west you need a chainsaw and out here it looks like you need a lawn mower. Haha. Have you ever dispersed camped in the Chequamegon national Forest in Wisconsin?
@@NigelNaughton no I haven’t…nowhere in Wisconsin yet! Yeah all the rain we’ve had for the past month has made everything grow like crazy. Some of that grass I drove through was as tall as my hood!? lol
I love this car!
Beautiful ! Up on the Iron Range 👍 have home there…
Awesome 👍 The Great North Beautiful 🌲🌲🌲
Bigfoot
With all the rain we have been having in MN it was nice you found a spot that wasn't flooded like a lot of the state is right now.
@@CavemanCBB yeah I thought the roads in were going to be a lot more wet…wasn’t bad at all.
We live up here and camp in those woods. Please don't spray for bugs. If you can't handle the bugs, stay in in Minneapolis.
@@jefffontana3105 I would prefer you do your research on what is actually happening when fogging…without just googling it. Real research. Here’s the issue…I get this a lot being a TH-camr. Everyone wants to criticize without having facts. If the fogger is used incorrectly then yes, it’s harmful to the water, birds, along with other things. Everyone who says to me “I live in the area” and just assumes I’m a city guy shows your ignorance. I’ve grown up in the outdoors. Alaska, Northern Wisconsin, Minnesota…the city is where I just work. Don’t make yourself sound ignorant by assuming what you don’t know anything about. My dad was a career forest ranger. My mom ran a pheasant farm. I respect nature. I know my shit. You don’t know me. Don’t watch another one of my videos. If I see you comment again, I block you. Have a nice day.
Man, I wish I had epic campsites like that around here.
@@outdooriowan that’s why I love Minnesota! 👌🏼
Great spot
You literally fogged the entire place. Stay home if you can't handle nature and the out doors ass hole
Really? Wow.
Before you know it, you'll just be a symbol.
@@yevenstee 😂😂😂…🌲👌🏼
Nice spot! I think Kenny of all Trades was there recently. I recognize the dock and fire pit. Those islands look cool, and it is definitely worth a return trip. 🏕🛶🎣. The new channel name is fitting. 👍Keep the videos coming!
@@nerbin that’s funny you mention Kenny Of All Trades because I commented on his video and said I had that spot pinned but hadn’t been out there yet…it was nice to see him out there and was able to see what the site looked like! Thanks for watching!
hey i just got done watching your video on how you find these spots! i had a question about the part where you said that some maps show the spots but that takes the fun out of it for you. i was wondering more about that, id like to get to a place where I can send it more and go out exploringing to find them but feeling limited with my vehicle!
@@ethanhalland2949 yeah, a lot of places I go need 4 wheel drive and high clearance to get there.
how do you like that kayak?
@@kuraimaho I love it! I’ve had it for probably 6 or 7 years now and it’s great! Holds up great and is extremely packable and portable. Pumps up in like 5 minutes! Worth every penny!
That looks like an amazing spot. Makes me wonder what #1 and #2 are?
@@petescharber8567 I invited u to #1 already…it has a portage lol …but #2 was my other secluded lake in the Chipp, that video was like month ago or something…the one that had the rough muddy road getting in! lol
Dock and everything! What a sweet spot. Kayaking looked fun. I like the new channel name. Great video!
Hey Swag. Forgive me for the aside, you and yours all right up in MN? I was looking at the aftermath of Tuesday's washout. Hope the weather doesn't put too much a damper on things.
I bought the other one that screws onto the little fuel tanks we use for our camp stoves. Haven't had a chance to test it yet, but now I really want to give it a try.
I have the backpacker one and it seems to work great!
Yeah I got mine a couple years ago and I’ve mentioned it a handful of times in my videos. That bitch will be rockin next to me tomorrow night at camp lol
Will have to invest in one as skeeters have been crazy this year. So much rain.
I got mine 2 years ago and it’s my best friend at camp during the bug season lol
Man, I have been skunked so many times I can't count that high. That lake looks awesome for fishing.
I think all the fish were hiding from the sound of all those private jets taking off from the airport all damn morning lol
What type and model of Kayak are you using ? How do you like it ? How comfortable is sitting in it for a long time ? I have a Sit On Top Kayak but, I'm older ( and fatter lol) and after sitting on the hard plastic seat (floor) of the kayak it can get uncomfortable after awhile .
Cormorants dry their wings out, hence the outstretched wings. Nice video BTW.
Thanks! I figured there was a reason for it to do that. I’ve seen it before, just never caught it on camera to ask someone! Thanks for watching!
Pretty cool history on the lake. Very nice that you have something that nice only 5 minutes from home. Looked like a lot of fun. Great video!
From your backyard to the ocean.
Crazy a random lake in middle America will take you all the way to the ocean lol
Pretty cool. Do what you can, when you can. Have you watched any Wendy Outdoors videos on TH-cam? Her outings are pretty similar to yours - short wilderness trips. Though from the few videos I’ve watched so far her outings seem to be mostly paddling vs hiking. It’s pretty inspiring to see her enthusiasm for the outdoors even at an advanced age. Gives me hope for future adventures for many years to come:) I enjoy seeing your enthusiasm and appreciation too! Keep up the good work.
Thanks! I haven’t checked her out yet but I will! 👍🏼
Lovely and Fine times....
Do you ever see a mud hole and just go "Nope"? Being solo going threw some of the trails out there is sketchy.
Haha yes, I actually mentioned that 3 videos ago. There was a site just past the site I stayed at but the mud and water was just too much being alone. I said if I had somebody with me that could pull me out if needed then yes, but when I’m solo it’s better to be safe than sorry lol
It would be nice to see where these spots are on the map so some of us can go explore them also.
There are some maps that do show them. I’ve gone to sites people have told me about but to me it’s more fun to find places myself exploring. Somebody telling me a spot takes all the fun out of it.
