    Baptism of the of the Holy Spirit is Jesus baptism into the Spirit. This is not relating to eternal salvation. This is specifically for empowerment in the form of the supernatural gifts of the spirit. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus. This is the baptism into the body of Christ where by the spirit lives in you. This is eternal salvation. But there’s difference between Holy Spirit living in you and coming upon you. The baptism of fire is what is referred to as the Spirit coming upon someone like in Acts 1 and 2. It is Jesus who does the baptism when after he ascended into heaven and sent the Holy Spirit to whomever so desires. But it requires a deeper process of repentance and a waiting process. This is what Simon the sorcerer wanted but his heart was not pure.

    • @lucaaslourencon
      @lucaaslourencon 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you believe that baptism for empowerment is available to everyone or only to those whom Jesus calls? Because the tongues evidenced by this baptism builds the Spirit, would God make a distinction between Christians?

    • @Romans_116
      @Romans_116 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lucaaslourencon ‬‬“Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere-in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”” ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬-‭8‬ ‭ The purpose is for being a witness. If you are a disciple you should be a witness. I believe this is for everyone but not everyone is for the witness. What you notice in Acts is prior to the Holy Spirit coming upon them they were in deep prayer and supplication. The baptism of the Holy Spirit can come spontaneously as he chooses without laying of hands but other times it requires laying of hands as we see in Acts 8 after Philip had just preached the gospel and casted out their demons, they still waited for John and Peter for the laying of hands. Same in Acts 19:1-7 with Paul laying hands on John the Baptist’s disciples.

    Doesn't know what an atheist is. Doesn't know what am agnostic is. Arguments from ignorance. No skepticism. No good evidence for a god. Appeals to emotions. Unsupported assertions. Appeals to personal experiences. Another "I used to be an atheist for bad reasons. Now in a theist for bad reasons."

    "...I couldn't explain my own existence as a conscious, sentient being..." I see no trouble with this. Your brain produces what you consider to be 'you', the consciousness and sentience you perceive, just as a computer produces the 'program' that is running. No computer, no program. No brain, no you. The main difference is that we tend to make exact copies of computer programs which all operate the same way on different computers, while that is basically not a thing that happens with brains. Another difference, of course, being that unlike brains, computers are not self-replicating, nor do they (almost universally) have access to inputs from the outside world, nor do they need to survive. As a result, they haven't had the billions of years we've had to get to this point where we're actually thinking more clearly than any other living thing we know about today (possibly more so than any that has ever lived on this planet, though we can't say that for sure). "...and that was a bit scary..." Which is one reason to be skeptical of people who offer to make it less scary. "...it's technically an agnostic..." It's both. They answer different questions. Theism/atheism answers whether you _believe_ (accept as true or likely true) that there is at least one god, gnosticism/agnosticism answers whether you claim to _know_ that there is at least one god. If you don't believe, you're an atheist, but if you don't think it's reasonable to _know_ that there isn't, you're also an agnostic. "...you might wanna start asking 'God, if you're out there, please show me'..." Been doing so for over a decade now (coming up on 15 years, I think). So far... no answer. "...I figured the only way there could be any meaning in life, any purpose in life, any continuance of life beyond our short lifespan... was if we could get connected to something that was infinite..." The last one, maybe. But I have no trouble with meaning and purpose for my limited life. My life is meaningful _to me,_ and _I_ set my purpose within it _for_ me (other people assign _different_ meanings and purposes to my life, and that's fine, up to a point). I'm not sure why you'd want those things dictated to you. On the other hand, if it turned out there _was_ a god that made us and had a purpose and meaning for us, I wouldn't deny it was true. "...that infinite would also have to be loving enough to care about us..." Yeah, as far as I can tell, such a thing cannot possibly exist. "...they first gave me the gospel..." Save that you've heard it before. You live in the Western world, it's basically impossible to avoid hearing about it. "...they told me that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead so that I could be made right with God..." And this is likely immoral: th-cam.com/video/qB8hRVWRblM/w-d-xo.html "...he doesn't meet us always on our own terms..." I've tried 'show me in a way that you know will work, whatever that is'. I mean... he's God, right? Should be able to do this. "...on a personal level, it was more convincing than anything else could have been..." Possibly so. In which case I can only wait for God to drop by for tea (effectively) and do the same for me. _In addition_ to repeatedly asking, he, and any other god out there, has a permanent invitation for that. For over a decade. So far... nothing. Have a nice day! :)
