Yes, we did! It scared the crap out of me... I've been there probably 50 times or more in my life without any issues until this day when the gunshots rang out. I think it was someone squirrel hunting but I could be mistaken.... was very uncomfortable for us tho
@@SP5387yeah that’s what I’m assuming too. I frequently hike down to the tunnel and watch trains myself, caught some really good stuff. Have you ever caught a train on the other side of the tunnel?

Engineer friend of mine was ordered by an idiot trainmaster to take some hi-cube chip hoppers through that tunnel years ago, despite telling said trainmaster they wouldn’t fit. It didn’t end well….for the chip hoppers. Or the trainmaster.

not uncommon at all. Happens all the time throughout the world. Perhaps they just dropped off 10k tons...or are on the way to pick up 10k tons. Or perhaps some of the units are being moved to handle traffic elsewhere. Power balancing is part of the job

Well there was a couple of hours between shots. 245 goes in to pick up and set out cars at the McCalla intermodal facility.

How do you know when this train is moving?? There is a spot I would love to get a photo of this train at but I have no clue when to go. I’m sure it only goes each direction maybe once a day. There must be a secret.
It's a daily train but the times vary greatly... I happen to know some of the guys who work there and they'll let me know in advance their movements.
I saw this one crossing the bridge in Odenville about noon.
My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🚂🛤🚋🚞🚝🚊🚉🚈🚇🚅🚄🚃 they are one of his favorite things in the whole world 🌎. He wonders: "What are all the pipes for?"
