Have you ever tried an inline baler? Just curious what your thoughts were
Really nice collection of equipment. I love the IH cabover. I'd watch a tour of the seed building for sure.
Es un honor hacerme miembro de tu canal y aún más siendo amante de la agricultura! Saludos desde Andalucía (España)
Thank you for the comment! It's a honer to have a fan from Spain!
What kind of Tedder is that? Looks like it does a real good job spreading the rye around
This is a ten star Pottinger tedder 👍
Good job: This is what thes kind of tedders are known for since introduction. Rotary tedders are like that. Some of them can be run at an angle and then clear inwards from the edges. What's more, most of them are easy to make wind rows and move them some hours later.
I know you.. your an Eldred or you work for an Eldred…. Great video
You're correct! Thanks for the comment!
@@NewYorkFarmer I grew up in the Skaneateles/marcellus town line… hope to see more
@rickperry9546 That's really cool, small world!
Dude ur hot af
As long as the sun stays out after you rake it you should be fine.
Man those are ugly bales. In 1973 my family bought our first 1049 bale wagon and 2 newholland square balers. We made 20,000 ugly bales and gave the newholland balers back to the dealer and got 2 124 massey balers. Wow a night and day difference in uniformity, nice clean cut, square ends that stacked awesome. Tried newhollands again in the 80's just before my uncle quit working at the dealership and I started working there. No matter what I tried and even at Newholland training center schools they never could make nice bales like our masseys or deeres.
Keep the moisture low and you get a great result!
Absolutely!
What are the 5 gallon buckets for on the side of the balers?
Those are for any trash we might accumulate! So if any bales break in the field, we can grab the broken string and put it in those buckets without having to throw it in our tractor cabs.
Good video. Those 575’s can be pushed a lot more. Small bales like that can be 10 strokes.
Dude ur cute love the porn stach when we where teenagers we could do hay faster
What is the maximum moisture percent that you will bale at?
We don't bale anything above 15% moisture
Nice video. It looks like you need to make your bales a couple inches longer. The stacks look kind of loose and don't fit snuggly in the machine when you're stacking.
Missed the live but enjoyed the replay.

@@NewYorkFarmer Thanks
Love to see it!
Hey it's me Devin I want to do what you do how do I begin to do this
@DevinAnthony-h2q you'll need some farm land, a few tractors and equipment. What type of farming are you interested in?
@@NewYorkFarmer anything really
Your live videos are the best. All angles were good from my view. Good to see the different views. What is your soil like? Sandy? Our soil is a siltly loam.
Thanks brother! Our soil is nice, not sandy and not a lot of clay. The hardest thing we have to worry around us is stone. We get lots of rocks of all sizes and some areas have a lot of shall beds
@@NewYorkFarmer Interesting. Very cool. No rocks in our soil
@@utsouthpaw2013 that must be nice lol
Sure does make the ground look nice. What will you plant there?
It sure does! So this field will be a rye field planted this fall to be harvested next spring
How big is your cultivator?
So ours is about 27 feet wide
Everything ok? Haven't seen much from your channel lately
@utsouthpaw2013 hey thanks for asking, yeah everything has been good, had a week with the family on the lake so didn't get to any editing, then I had a cold for about a week and a little more and I'm just about over it now, hoping to get another video out soon and also gonna start doing some livestreams with my goats and chickens lol thanks for asking tho! It's on my mind everyday to get more content out
Nice Video, My brother and I stacked with 1048 and 1068 and 1075 as teenagers custom stacking. Million bales with NH and it was a fun time mostly. Made a nickel/bale.

Did you run into a tree or just some grass?
I ran into the trees/tall grass lol but the drone was alright thankfully
@@NewYorkFarmer Good deal

Thanks for subscribing! This was shot in 2021
Are the combine settings for triticale similar to wheat or barley? Straw looks similar. Is this for seed or consumption?
Looks good!
well that was worth doing to have them come like that in a week looks like it paid off , was thinking the size of that cultivator to what we have a little 6ft old International hard tine cultivator would tale me all day to do that one field i expect , Great vid , thank you really enjoying your stuff very interesting how you do things compared to my little 100 acre farm here in England UK
@jamesmarsh4957 thanks for the comment! It definitely paid off, but we're not out of the water yet! Now if only the birds and deer don't eat all the sunflower seeds we might have a good harvest haha
The stacker concept is a lot different than hand loading or even accumulating and grabbing with a grapple. Personally I enjoyed the small fields we used to have with a skid steer.
Thanks for the comment!
That's a bummer you had to do a replant. How big of field was it? How much seed did you use for the replant? Expensive seed?
@utsouthpaw2013 yes it was a bit of a disappointment, thankfully the field is probably 7 or 8 acers, and the other field was smaller. But as far as the price goes, I know the seed came from SeedWay so I'm sure it wasn't cheap haha
I used to grow some of the seed for this. What I actually grew was called “parent seed”. It was two generations in front of the consumer, so the seed that I harvested was planted in a much larger seed plot and then that was sold to farmers to grow for oil. Out here it looks quite a bit different than what you have. Our soil is a lot more mellow when we plant and we grow them on beds for irrigation.
@FailureatRetirement thanks for the comment! And wow no kidding, that is different! Yeah we're out here trying to grow these for sunflower seeds
I say JD balers I have both and always makes a good even bale I found NH balers don't keep the same size bale you really have to slow down and speed up and even then off sizes
I agree, I have never used a JD baler personally but we used to on our farm. I've heard a lot of good things about the Heston balers too
I H POWER RULES Great video Have the same wagon Tie mine on the 6th table and put a double cap on the last Stand very well in the barn Also took those big ass steering tires off and put Low Pro tires and wheels on the front lowered it about 5 inches and the pick up chute worked much better Good luck
Thanks for the comment! That's a good idea taking those tires off, maybe we outta try that!
That hay bale should be worth more with a shirt baled into it. Lol. Funny stories from the farm!
@@utsouthpaw2013 I actually found the shirt too!! Lol. I'm gonna post that in a reel soon so keep your eye out lol

Timothy hay?
Clover, Timothy, and Alfalfa mix second cutting hay
I find this amazing to watch , you do not have to touch a bale , we used to do it with pitch forks when i was a little lad then we had a flat eight system but we still had to stack them in the barn , as soon as round bales came onto the seen we did that and sold the little square baler , I am in UK England in the Cotswolds' and we use to make 20,000 bales a year for the milking cows and followers , Its is so interesting to see how you do it now and its very fast too this machine you are in , well cannot get over how it does it so fast , i sometime wish we still had the little baler its was in great condition it was a IH 440 , a few small bales for the calves are good to have around but we make mainly round bale silage and a bit of round bale hay if the weather allows , love your channel so good to watch , thank you
@jamesmarsh4957 Thank you for the comment! I feel honored to have a fan in the UK! And I love hearing about the different way we all farm. It gives us all such a better perspective. We have a lot of farmers around here here doing big squares but dang, that's a lot of round bales! These machines are so great, when I was a kid we mostly used wagons with a kicker on the back of the baler, and much older, slower stackers. Thanks again for the comment, keep up the hard work out there and I'll make sure to keep the videos coming!
Bales r to short make your stack to loose
Yes you're absolutely right, we can't stand it how some are short, and others are good perfect size. What do you use for a Baler?
I would say new holland makes the best square balers.
Do you have any issues with rats in the barns with the seed heads on the rye?
Great question! It depends, some years are better than others when it comes to rats in the barns going after the straw. But I don't think they really go after the grain in the straw, we've seen a lot of burrowing through it whenever we have a really hard winter.
This just my opinion, but I think you devote too much time to the high speed view. Some is fine, too much has a negative effect. I'm a New Yorker, retired dairy farmer, so I like seeing a New York channel. Happy farming!
Thank you for the positive feedback! I want to give people what they want to see, and I appreciate hearing from you all. I will definitely have that in mind from now on. Thank you for your time as a dairy farmer! This life ain't easy, but it's so worth it.
How much hay do you grow
We grow around 500 acers of hay
@NewYorkFarmer do you sale a lot of hay
160 bales per load
Thats correct!
What part of New York is your farm located

Those stackers are pretty sweet. I always thought they were a hay wagon.
Nice! You live in a beautiful area. Do you ever find yourself saying the balers don't move fast enough?
Thanks! Yes we do, I love it here. And honestly not when we're running four balers at once haha
