Thanks for the video friend. Ive taken apart my grinder, only as far as removing the top burr carrier just to superficially clean some of rhe grinds (its only two weeks old). Ive placed it back together makint sure the indicator locks into the shoes pointing to the chite, but now its making a loud whirring noise it didnt make befkre 😮 grinds on my normal setting sre coming out VERY coarse. Would yoy know what I've done wrong?
@@b9d4j19 no problem! i would check that the slots on the burr carrier have slotted into the little rubber shoes properly.
Thanks so much for posting this! I’ve been looking all over the internet for someone really using this in a commercial environment before I went out and bought one for our shop. It looks like it can pretty much keep up with any workload yeah? Do the boilers ever cool down from too many shots? Cheers!!
@@nomadcreative1382 yes, it can withstand quite a hard time. Really, I have never noticed much let up in steam pressure ever, it will steam an 8oz drink in about 10-12 seconds - provided you aren’t pulling turbos, there’s always a little buffer time. The brew boiler is quite small at around 190ml so it can heat brew water fairly fast to temp - naturally, I have never been able to check if the temp has been stable 40 shots in for example, but shots pull consistent and of course taste checks along the way check out. Have you considered a GS/3? How busy an environment is a machine planned to go into?
@@jackowens_ thanks for the insights! It’s a drive through shop on the main road of a small town that is about to literally 8X in population in the next year or so. They’re building multiple schools on the road, but for now don’t expect insane rushes in the morning. I’m looking to keep my costs low on the front end and buy a nice big machine as the volume grows. Thanks for the machine suggestion I’ll look in that! We are either gonna go with this one or a used La Mar. 2-3 group machine.
@@nomadcreative1382 sure, that’s cool! The Linea Mini can certainly churn a good volume, but things you may want to consider are that you will have to manually stop each shot, unless you grab the new Acaia/LM scale for volumetrics which could be useful depending what else is going on in operations for the user. The GS/3 AV has volumetrics onboard- it’s a bit more of a commercial tank and can keep up with as high a workload and you can really feed it- bugger steam boiler, bigger brew boiler and saturated group over the Linea Mini. I think while the Linea Mini can do a good volume, it might be a case of the speed of workflow potential for you - in an event such as in the video, people are there in that location for a few hours so if we’ve got a 20-30 long coffee tab in front of us, it doesn’t massively matter to the person if they need to wait 20 minutes for us to get to drink 30. On your drive through, that might be something to consider if you have a big rush. Have you considered your grinder?
So for £650 what grinder should I be buying instead?
@@boxrick1 I think you have to take into consideration a persons use and preferences. What do you usually brew? What do you currently use and are there certain aspects or criteria you hold as important? Perhaps with workflow/features etc.
😁👌
Other than the shower screen, back flushes and descaling (once in a while), I would not do this, I’m bit tech at all. Is this completely necessary? I’m looking at the mini ad a possible upgrade but I’m not the biggest machine nerd 😢
@@mannyr8795 no, it’s not neccessary in general maintenance. Every year you should replace a couple safety valves inside the machine, but this goes for any espresso machine. Other than that, the Mini is no harder to maintain than any other machine.
You should do a video on the GS3 itself. No matter what grinder or obscure coffee your showing, that LM is the star is the show. Reason I’m subscribing 😊
@@mannyr8795 I plan to. Hopefully I will get around to a review video soon! 😎
How is they gs3? Worth the $$$?
@@mannyr8795 I’m very satisfied with the GS/3. No regrets.
If you had to choose between the línea mini and the gs3 for home for someone that makes usually two back to back lattes in morning and afternoon, 3 back to back lattes tops, which wouls you pick? The flow control is cool but not sure how useful it is taste wise in milk based drinks if not drinking straight esoresso
@@mannyr8795 the GS/3 is a little bit nerdy and I’d say for people who want to experiment and really enjoy the process of making espresso. I think the Mini may be the better option here for your situation in pulling a couple milk drinks every morning without any hassle or having to think too much (not that the GS/3 can’t be consistent, it can but you have to do it, however, you could just move the paddle all the way and it would run like a Mini) … but, before the Mini, I’d probably just get a Micra for home. Don’t forget your grinder- important! The machine isn’t the most important in the taste.
How does it sound if someone plans to use 2 LM mini instead of Linea classic 2group. Do u think it will work at a real commercial coffee house??
@@Caffeine_Supernova you totally could. But I’d be inclined to go with a Linea 2 group, like a PB. You’d have 2x plumb lines, 2x wastes, 2x water filter with two Mini’s. I think because of the steam wand location on the Mini, you’d need to space them to provide access. Also, I think there could be a little more workspace.
nice man, just curious why not use larger milkjug and transfer it into smaller one instead use two small milkjug? and i think it's better use timer only is enough rather than move the scale aside everytime flush the grouphead.
@@asadasdasdasda2668 hey, thanks for the comment. On the milk jugs, this is how Oliver likes to steam and pour, but aside that, with the single group the shot supply rate will never exceed the rate in which the Linea Mini can steam milk so there is no need to be steaming double quantities. Regarding the scale, we need weight for the shot volume as this is my tracker to stop the shot. Time is then a check that we are running on recipe which we dialled in for this volume to pull. If I run time only, I could be getting varying shot volumes and I’ll never know - I could be running off the recipe…. I need both to track and keep the recipe consistent.
Mr. Owen’s. How many of the 50 shots are steamed milk drinks. Your video seems to show more espresso action than steamed milk. My experience is the steam is a far limiting factor on these home units, including the larger Gs3.
Hey Greg. Essentially all were steamed milk. I’d say 45 milk, 5 americano. I have to say my experience in owning both of the mentioned machines is that there really is no let up in steam pressure and supply- the steam boilers are especially big. On the shift in the video, no issues with steaming at all. I would suggest both machines are commercially able, especially the GS/3. I think the only thing making them ‘home’ is the perhaps their single group footprint. LM supply Linea Mini’s to all roaster vendors at London Coffee festival and they are churning out hundreds of coffees per day on the show. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
@@jackowens_London coffee festival?? I need to go to this
@@mannyr8795 it’s a good festival!

1k is a doa for a Chinese noname tbh. That chirpy motor also sounds quite underwhelming. But hey, it's good to have more options.
I guess the DLC burrs are noisy across the board. It is expensive when you consider some competitors.
WPM is not a Chinese no name 😂
To grind into a dosing cup would be way more efficient. I am using an e61 double boiler machine to pour 40 cups in around an hour. The most challenging issue is never about grinding and pouring, but steaming. It takes me 10 to 15 seconds to steam 8oz. And It takes some minutes to recover back to 1.5 bar or above to have enough steam power for next jar of milk.
I have done dosing to cup, but I have found this to be slower and less efficient due to the extra steps involved of transfering to PF, and most of the time the distrubution isn’t as good and takes more time knocking the PF to get things even. The grinder presents the grinds in a good way to the PF that gives me a step up if you like. The Mini really doesn’t run out of steam pressure - we can steam constantly and it just keeps going! Thanks for the comment🙏🏻
I get so much more retention than you, all behind the declumper even with rdt and bellows. I have to pull off the magnetic shoot and flick the declumper every time. I'm wondering why I have that issue and you don't?
That’s interesting. I don’t seem to have the problem you do, and I’m not sure why. My workflow is always 2 sprays RDT from the supplied bottle and I get zero retention without even using the bellows - I just pat the grinder on top as per the video. Apparently there is an antistatic mod coming, an ION generator for the chute.
@@jackowens_ weird, if slightly frustrating. I use a couple of sprays too. I'll look out for the antistatic mod, good to hear.
Is there a method to reset the "0" if needed on this model?
There is no way to zero or calibrate this grinder since the arrow pointer is fixed to the body.
Hi. I have problem with my gs3 pressure steam wand. If you don’t mind, do you know how to adjust it? Tq
Hey! Yes, you need to adjust the steam boiler temperature. This can be done either via the app or using the FN button on the keypad to access the menu.
Really helpful man, thank you for the video!
Glad it was useful! 🙏🏻
Anyone have any issues taking off the chute for cleaning? The one screw on the bottom of the cute just keeps turning and wont come out
Wrong. Attention on the Pins. Exactly what the most people do wrong you didn’t mentioned
Good stuff dude
thanks! 🙌🏻
Nice video, may I ask why have you switched from your DF64V to this smaller DF54?
I haven’t switched, more I have this for a little testing and intrigue! Thanks for watching 🙌🏻
How do you feel about it compared to the Timemore you tested?
Well, in short I prefer the DF64v. An extension to that would be - I find the workflow slightly easier (although the Timemore is still excellent, the lid and knocker are a couple more slightly fiddly steps to take) the RPM adjust is much easier and concise to use and out of the box on both, I prefer the taste of the DF64v.
What is temperature
The temperature was 94 degrees. 😊
looks like a nice grinder. hope it gets reviewed!
Still can't decide which grinder to get. The DF64V or DF64 Gen 2? Maybe you have an insight?
The Gen 2 is solid. A few features less than the DF64v, and of course a little less cost. The main one’s I see are the different aesthetic, the brushless DC motor (quiet) with RPM control, and the removable chute is really nice! Adjustment mechanism I believe is different and the 64v comes with a slow feeder disc. I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either. Don’t forget to use the discount code in the description👍🏻☕️
@@jackowens_ awesome insight! Definitely helped with my decision. :) Thank you!
@@drwfrnndo glad it could help you 👍🏻
One thing you don't mention is that the rubber chute and wood cap are very loose and easy to knock off. It gets annoying in the workflow
I haven’t found that to be the case with the chute, the magnets are quite strong and it remains secure. I have negated the bellows (perhaps you are meaning these rather than the chute?) as I find tapping the top is suffice to clear out any held grinds, but mine seem fairly secure when placed on top.
La Marzocco or Morocco 🇲🇦 ?
Love the Df64v mate great grinder woot woot!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
I’ve been impressed with mine! Thanks for the comment😊
just got mine! so happy!! i have a sage bambino machine no where near your amazing machine! the thing i find, im having to use the espresso setting around the 15-20 mark :( im not too sure if that's still fine, as ive always heard espresso should be around under 5 mark :S.
Congrats on the new grinder! 👍🏻 really, the grind size should be whatever it should be, and the indicator on the DF54 is not able to be calibrated, so I’d take it with a pinch of salt. The main thing is you are able to grind for espresso and have plenty of workable range! What grinder did you have before and how are you liking your DF54 compared? 😎
@@jackowens_ that is great to hear! before i had fellow opus 2 - too much retention, didn't work well. jumped onto DF54 honestly i love it! just getting used to know when my coffee are dialled in correctly, im getting 18gr in with around 33g out around 30'ish seconds, but i noticed if i go up coarser - a bit tooo quick, one step down finer - not reaching that mark hahaha, but all is good!!

I got a defective df64 gen 2. It had a lot of problems. I had to return it, and they charged me shipping and restocking fee. Even though it was obviously broken. I am desperately trying to figure out what to get. I was looking at this and the 078s.
That’s really unfortunate. I’ve got both, and I have a review on my channel of the 078s, so let me know if you have any questions! 👍🏻
the manual is definitely lacking
Thanks for the review! I'm caught between this and the DF83V 😬
No problem, thanks for watching! I haven't tried any of the 83mm grinders although, I hope at some point. I suppose a couple main differences may be the 64v not only being smaller but a more discreet aesthetic, and 64mm burr options and those being cheaper. I don't think you'd go wrong with either!
Looks great! What setting on the DF64V?

@@jackowens_ I had a Rancilio Rocky for many years. Sold it and got a K-Max about 18 months ago.
