upon rewatching this ending after watching the half life 2 documentary re-contextualizes how the timeline of Half Life, with GMan being actually able to be in multiple parts in time perfectly explains why this games events overwrote the ending of episode 2

I like to think the gmans employer is valve. They use him to make the plot manageable.

Meh, I don't like it. The Gman was way to on the nose in this scene, giving away way too much information about what he is all about. He never gives anything away about his master plan with Gordon, but with Alyx, he is way too chatty. Goes against his character. And replacing Gordon with Alyx as the focal point of the story...yeah, no. Gordon is the OG, it has to be him. And retconning Eli's death...definitely no. The story should have picked up after Eli's death, and Gordon and Alyx hunting for the Borealis. This was too much information and too retconny. Not a fan.

Im late to the party but, i just wanted to point out, G-Man states that Freeman is "unable or unwiling to perform the tasks laid before him". Meaning that, somehow despite Gordon being only human, is capable of being a huge inconvenience for both G-Man and his "employers", rendering him as a sort of threat to their plans, which is interesting because if both G-Man and his employers have the ability to literally change history / bend fate to their will, shouldn't be something to worry about. Makes me think that "Freeman" speaks more about him than just being his last name. Also. Only god knows what kind of entities are strong enough to have a being like G-Man as his employee.

Hear me out. The G-man did say that "a previous hire is unable or UNWILLING to perform the tasks laid before him. We struggled to find a suitable replacement." Is it possible that took place in an alternate universe after the fact that Gordan in HL1 decided not to jump through the portal thus accepting the job. Gordon went on to die in a battle that he had no chance of winning. Thus The G-man and his employers struggled to find a suitable replacement until Alyx released the Gman from capture. My theory is, what if there are 2 universes and they intertwine together where there would be one without Gordan Freeman (HL alyx) and one without Alyx (Episode 3 or HL3). And the story (HL3) continues where Gordan freeman releases Alyx from the Gman and gets her from the alternate universe. What you guys think of this?

So I'm guessing if Half Life 3 is Underway it's most likely going to be a vr game of Gordon Freeman trying to rescue Alyx

I’ve always been afraid of G-man considering how cryptic and mysterious he is. After Half life Alyx though I feel even more afraid of him. The fact that a literally ADVISOR was trapped in time space and turned into a guinea pig with zero effort is fucking creepy. I’m really hoping we get to explore G-man’s abilities further in depth within the future (hopefully Valve doesn’t fall asleep)
