Great show. Let’s Twist Again. A favourite of our Junior Band Shiny Brass arrangement. 👍
great show looking forward to another year of great music. thank you and a happy new year.
Another great show, thank you. A happy New Year to you, your family and all the listeners
Wow, I’ve waited 12 months for this, and can I say, brilliant Mr H, brilliant 👍🏻
Great 2 hours of entertainment but I'm not convinced that all Pop tunes are suited to the Brass Band sound. Keep up the good work😊
No they are not but some are great with good arrangements. We have an Alan Fernie Bohemian Rhapsody which we love. @egremonttownband
Loved the programme. You can't beat a brass band for a wonderful sound. Thanks very much and a happy New year to you and your family.
Another good programme loved it. Happy New Year to you and your family xx
Marvellous as ever, thank you, sir
A great selection of music , listend to it all twice here in France ,merry christmas everyone
Another fabulous spectacle of Brass Band music. Listen with Mrs B whilst we prepared the Festive dinner then whilst we ate and made merry. Many thanks for this video!... All the best for 2025.
Coventry Carol was such a treat.Thank you and Merry Christmas. 🍻⛷🥓
What year was the Bolero/Little Drummer Boy recorded?
Have a lovely Christmas Hoylie with lashings of gravy on the side!
Many thanks for another year of brass banding at its best.
Just as I’d had my fourth flick through the Christmas tv menu, and decided to put my favourite Grimey cd on instead or just go to the pub……..salvation has come’th, courtesy of ABMYB…….Merry Christmas Mr H, family, band, and all your listeners….thank you
I wish all David's listeners A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Another brilliant show and fantastic choice of music. All the best David.
Cheers Hoyley 🍻
Thank you for all your hard work this year, Merry Christmas to you and Yours
Marvellous 2 hours spent listening to all that fantastic Christmas music. Who arranged the Horn Trio "It's the most wonderful time of the year" played by Rothwell?
Wonderful as always. Happy Christmas David.
Wonderful!!!! Excellent choices. Great opener and some very interesting arrangements. Enjoyed every minute. Listening again and looking forward to Christmas Eve. Thank you David. The Wonder of Christmas was my favorite. Excellent choice. Thanks for suggestions for Christmas dinner. Have a happy Christmas everyone! Pat in Florida
Merry Christmas to you and greetings from Germany!
A wonderful choice of music for this programme. A very merry Christmas to you and your family and a happy new year. Christmas was my favourite playing in brass bands.
Thanks for a great 2024 David. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
Thanks for another great festive show David. A very happy Christmas to you and your family.
Slept in an attic! Luxury!! We slept in a septic tank!! Great show as always thanks.
Great stuff David. I look forward to your 2400th.
Charming, that LP noise from the Black Dyke Mills piece (around 51:00)
Concierto de Aranjuez was written by Rodrigo for the guitar. There have been many arrangements of the second movement in which they change the name. Aranjuez mon amour is the name of a vocal version from 1967 by Richard Anthony.
As always excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
I returned from a concert to find this episode waiting - a delight as ever,
Thank you so much!!
Great show again David. I remember Seeing Brassed Off when it first came out. A film is only as good as the soundtrack and the Grimethorpe Band interpreted the music beautifully.
I too saw Brassed Off soon after it came out. I found parts very uncomfortable to watch in that even when everything was going wrong they still had to go to band practice. (Bits were too close to home)
Regina is Latin for Queen, Rex is King. We had Elizabeth Regina for so long that we are not used to Charles Rex yet. Love the programme. Steve in Pretoria.
Thank you very much and well done on spotting it, there one in every show to keep you on your toes!!
Brilliant as allways
Thanks so much!
Enjoyed the show thanks again
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Another great 2 hours of Brass music. Whispering Ted Lowe and Pot Black that brought back memories and one of the greatest comments ever made on telly... 'and for those watching in Black and White, the Blue is behind the Brown' Magic stuff.
Usual high standards many thanks
This is great music David, thanks again.
Great piece to finish with, Procession to the Minster, one of my favourites.. This piece always brings to mind a particular image. When I was playing bass trom with Hyde Band we finished a concert in a smallish country church with this piece. We really gave those last few notes some welly. On standing to take the applause, right in the front row was a gentleman who had formed his handkerchief into a triangle with the ends tucked into his ears and the rolled up fabric draped under his chin. Somehow that sight did not go with his suit and tie. One of those sights you can't unsee!.
I Will Follow Him. One of our favourites. I tried to upload a video of us playing it. And TH-cam took it down. 😢
How dare they?
Knight Templar must be the most played march ever.
I think Slaidburn might just trump it!!
Is that the best intro music ever……….F.A.B “Mr H”
Thank you Richard!
Hello. How can i make a request for the show please
Another excellent show Mr Hoyle, further to your comments about school I was told by my art teacher that I would get nowhere playing a brass instrument. I later found out that John Hinkley then of Brighouse was his son very iconic don't you think?
Turning out too be a cracking Brass Band weekend, courtesy of yourself and Brass in Concert via WOB play. Regrettably I’m not knowledgeable enough to make a call on adjudications, but I’m thinking Cory are very, very worthy winners, Philip Harper is a genius and charismatic to boot. That said, I thought Foden’s and Brigus ticked all my boxes, and it was an absolute joy to see Roger Webster. Great Show Mr H👍🏻
Just returned from a holiday and missed your show,, Great to hear again. Especially the last piece as I was at that event in the Royal Albert Hall
How can i contact you please. I have a special request. Thank you
