Last Ride of 2024 (edited)
Quick Zone 2-ish ride from the north Columbus Trailhead into downtown Columbus Ga. Testing out: Telemetry Overlays for data, & the repaired chain stay on the Miyata. Audio was corrupted by wind noise & I was on a long ramble, so I podded myself down.

Awhat. About. A kickstand? Di what would you recomend for a posieden x. ?
@@DjangoPorter I'd never use one, sorry.
@dvs70 hmmm ok.
Looks. Badass!!!!
@@DjangoPorter thanks
@@dvs70 i just bought. A dark blue poseiden x. A month ago. Seeing your mods though is. Very impressive
Are they faster than the GK slicks?
Slightly. It would be interesting to compare both in the same size. It could be the butt dyno effect as well.
Do the WTBs roll any faster? Looking for a tred that is fast on pavement while still providing some gravel traction.
@@NCtrailX Slightly, they also do not feel like they have drag when cornering.
My ride came with Vupine standard and these tires shine in the dirt. Also decent rolling on asphalt. Vulpine S, I expect roll even better on asphalt and hardpack. Likely ware better also if asphalt is often part of your riding. A similar tire is the pathfinder pro. Also a great tire.
@@matthewkramer8613I've considered those.
What weight did the build come out to be? Also, what technique and product did you use to glue the connection points?
@tristan1653 it's around 18lbs. There's room to drop weight, but it's not worth the expense. 3M Scotch Weld. The technique wasn't anything special. I used various methods to get it into the stripped frame at lug joints. It's messy & unforgiving. It remains tacky for several hours, but once dried, it is impossible to remove.
Keep in mind, my lugs were solid. The frame was in very good shape & had never been crashed. This extra internal bonding is for my peace of mind.
Thank you so much for the response. Just got the same frame so was diving into how worthwhile glueing the lugs would be. Mine appears to be in great shape so I may forgo the step.
When it comes to a well made frame, old is gold.
Good review bro. I just ordered mine two days ago. I have Oily skin so I’m hoping it works well for me.
@@strappedup24 Let me know. I hope it works.
Let's see where they sit in a few months.
Sweet Bike!!! I just found a 56cm on ebay. A little too small for me.
This is a 53, you might be able to compensate with a longer stem & seatpost. I know how tall you are. This frame is technically too small for me.
Nice
who did paint job sharp
@@antmo3353 I painted the bike. Thanks.
So cool seeing you make this frame work out! Definitely seems like the frame would be worth it for someone on a budget!
As long as they keep their budget in mind.
Beautiful machine!! Congratulations!!
Thank you very much!
what's with that frame - is the BB that low or did you install some crazy long cranks??? It looks like you'd be hitting roots on any non paved road...
@lechprotean 170mm cranks. The geometry charts are on the internet.
Nice bike!
@@Sills71 Thank You
Sweet build.
@jimihendrix731 Thank You.
Wheels pulled the whole thing together. Nice rig
@@stephenbrown1136 I wish the Zondas were tubeless & a touch wider. They'd be my first choice to a classic look. Thanks.
Nice looking bike. I hope riding it is at least as nice as it looks.
@EndoftheBlock7224 Thank You. I have no complaints when I ride her.
Looks real slick, the white and yellow RS accents on the tires make it real sharp
Great looking bike very tastefully done.
@@glennpettersson9002 Thank You
woah a bob marley top cap,did i just found my fellow stoner cyclists that ride a tcr
@@paolosangabriel8659 no, homage to his true legacy.
Sick build, respect for keeping this frame on the road! If you are keen, the zondas (jealous that you have a set of zondas just sitting around btw...) with some latex tubes and good 25 or 28mm tires would give you the great road feel you're after while also giving you the 1,000,000% style boost that comes from using campy wheels.
@Greenfirth that's how they're dressed. TPU tubes, 26mm Pirelli Pzero. I swap them back & forth. Nothing like a G3 spoke pattern to spark conversation.
Beautiful! 😍
Please profile your Giant TCR next.
@@agarrioone next.
@@dvs70 Thanks. I watched the TCR video, how do the two compare?
@agarrioone the TCR is only happy going fast. The wider tires & Di2 make it a touch easier to ride. The Miyata is just smooth. It has a better out of saddle climbing position and carries speed well. It is my preferred geared bike. The Masi is my most comfortable, hands down.
Nice bike, good job!
@@chrisko6439 thanks.
I use this stuff but very sparingly. It will ruin your valves. I only use it if I'm having really bad time getting air to stay in the tire. Even then I only use like 30% slica and the rest is Orangeseal. Another trick is to use black pepper with Stan's.
Oh and I have those same storages racks in my garage....they are the bomb.
Take a look at the Boyd wheels, I've had a couple sets of their wheel, outstanding products. I just purchased the Boyd Prologue rim brakes for my rim brake Emonda. I have heard that some Hunt wheels have issues, and they replace a lot of wheels do to issues, so I have stayed away from them. I bought my original Boyd's back in 2014 and they are still rolling strong. I ordered the prologues on July 3rd, had them installed on July 6th. It would have been the 5th, but the 4th was a holiday.
@justsomedude7556 not a big fan of them. I have no plans to buy another wheelset for this bike. If there's another problem I'm going to warranty them out & sell the replacement. The Campagnolo Zonda is not a bad wheelset.
@@dvs70 I originally bought the Boyd Altamont's which are AL wheels, and then picked up a pair of the Altamont's for Disc. I needed some new wheels for my Emonda, so opted to go back to them. Good luck,
@@justsomedude7556 ice ridden those before, great wheel.
I have the little balls too. Silca sealant only. No idea if that is normal. Just at your tires the sealant forms a nice latex ‘inner tube’ in the tire. So with a puncture the elastic sealant starts plugging the hole being pushed out this together with the left over liquid sealant.
Try some flatout quickstrike formula it never drys out and you don't have to use as much as they say on the bottle you can use the normal dose like stans and the others say to use. I been using it and have no problems at all.
Hi mate l up dated my bike to a giant defy with 32mm ,my old bike had 23mm ,, the difference was amazing
I have 3 "roadbikes" two older rimbrake grams with 26mm & my TCR now has 28mm. I had a Defy Advanced Pro One with 28mm before it was popular.
I have nothing but praises for Silca's sealant compared to their competitors... To each their own and so on but for me, I'm never going back to other products...
You will love the larger tires, I have been running 30's on my Domane and 28s on my Emonda. Fantastic tires. I am also looking at getting the 76 Project hi flow valves, pricey, but seems to handle Silca better than a standard valve. There are also the reserve Fillmore valve
It give an excuse to use my compressor. I thought about the high flow valves, but figured it wasn't worth the cost.
My issues with Silca is it clogs the valves stem and your having to unseat the tires to put more sealant, unless you get their replenisher. To deal with the first issue I have purchased what's labeled no clog valves. They are offered by HI FLOW and Filmore. Have found the HI FLOW a bit finicky (you have to be careful when tightening it or it will unscrew in the tire). For less hassles I have decided to give orange seal a try
What’s the comfiest castelli bib? I don’t want to be Castelli castrated! Thanks 🙏
Hard call. I am comfortable in all except the Cento bibs. They hurt on anything over 30 miles. The Unlimited gets heavy use since I need batteries etc for recording ride videos.
After a short look, I realized the Agilest is the newer line. I'll have to find a second source for them.
I have swapped to Cyclami, & will follow-up after a few months. RideNow with black valve stems hold up well. All of my "milky" valve stemmed versions have failed or leak.
Wish I had seen this, a few weeks ago, before my Ridenow purchase. All 4 I purchased leaked and it got worse as time passed. How's the Cyclami working? Saw some from a brand called ACEROMT that I am about to try
I'm thinking about buying these as a second wheelset with 30 or 32mm slicks to convert my Gravel Bike to a Road bike. Does anybody have any experience with them as Road wheels? (theyre on offer right now and available, as opposed to 4 season road wheels)
That would be a nice combo & should roll well. I've gone as low as 35c Gravel King Semi-slick.
請問袖子長度?
Looks great! Just got my Poseidon x flat bar.
Just picked up an X, yours is gorgeous!
Thank You.
Loud is good, let's cats know you are coming up fast! Embrace the sound!!
That hub sound is what's up!! Love it, ordered mine for my Scott Speedster Gravel 30. Discount at 478.00! Enjoy yours, I know I'll enjoy mine!!
Thank you for the review! How do you like them after a year of riding? I'm very interested in buying them but find it weird that your video is like the only review I could find about them. They seem crazy light for alloy wheels at this price.
Still trouble-free. I had them on a truing stand last week, still true. No issues with bends, leaks, or spokes. I was able to keep up with a 22 mph paceline on them with 38c slicks (46t crank). Not many reviews or owner from what I can tell. It is odd.
Thank you for the insights! Sounds very good. I also planned to use them with 38c slicks for a road plus setup. Think I‘ll give them a try.
