В их мышцах миоглобина значительно больше, чем в мышцах людей и наземных млекопитающих. Один учёный сделал такой вывод относительно кювьерова клюворыла: «Эти животные ныряют на совершенно фантастическую глубину. Их способности выходят далеко за рамки современных представлений о физиологии». Учёные надеются со временем лучше в этом разобраться, ведь полученные знания способны помочь медикам в лечении таких состояний, как пневмоторакс.Что вы думаете? Cuiver's beaked whales are the deepest diving whales, apparently going even deeper than sperm whales.

More than likely, yes. They dive down the the extreme depth where those squid live.
Cookie cutter shark bites. Lots of whales that frequent the tropics have them. They're not squid "bites".
The circular wounds are cookie cutter sharks, but the long scars are from other males.

Possibly also from fights with other whales. Many beaked whale species have a pair of teeth at the tip of their beak that many biologists believe are used in fights. Cuvier’s Beakeds are one of those that do have them. If you ever wanna look at a pretty whacked-out whale species, check out the Strap-Toothed Whale.

yep. over 9,816 feet below the surface. probably the deepest of any air breathing sea creature in history.
Yes, it beat out the southern elephant seal awhile back. They prefer to occupy depths that are below 1,500 feet. At the maximum depths of over 9,000 feet they experience 250 times the Earth's gravity as sea level. At this depth, every gallon of water around them exerts 16,000 pounds of pressure against the whales body! Crazy stuff, that would complete crush a human body instantly; all cavities: veins, blood vessels, arteries, lungs, liver, kidneys, eyes, brain pan, etc would collapse into themselves and violently rupture. Gross but interesting.
