Hated the background sound

Good presentation and important points. The only thing this misses is that KM, like almost anything an organization does, is a continuous iterative cyclic process, not a linear one. In software development, we call the linear development process (strawman...) the "waterfall model". It's not how anything is accomplished. Any phase of a process will and should inform the next iteration of the same phase (planning, execution, improvement, planning, execution, improvement, ...), forever improving. If you only invest effort into establishing KM once, you will fail or at least stagnate.

This is a good presentation. Curious, do you have or can you recommend the references (citations)? Thank you.

thx for sharing. So, knowledge has to do with theories about how things are and what they mean for me. How do I know, my theory is right? For exp some 400 years ago people perfectly KNEW the Earth would be flat and the Sun moves around it -they knew it so well that they even killed some other folks for it. too bad that the same weren't killed when it turned out that they were wrong... . google Feynman on knowledge. anyways, nice talk (btw: i probably would just walk away when i don't know what to do with that rising pressure thing and watch from a distance what knowers do with it ...)

As a relative beginner, I've been allowed a little while to demonstrate that some KM practices can improve the situation in our company, now I'm being asked for metrics to produce figures to justify the effort and I was a little lost, frankly. I now have a really good starting point and the ideas are flooding in once more.

Thanks Milton. I would like to emphasize on one point. For organizations starting to use or implement best practices. It’s vital to understand that it’s not enough to use best practice as a starting point to implement. There is a context - as mentioned - that made it best practice. a context that might include an environment, culture, etc. It’s only a starting point which is not ready for implementation. This understanding would help to minimize copycat behavior.
