    Any kind of outside blanket cover on the tents equalizes the surface temperature and minimizes/eliminates condensation. After experimenting with vinyl tarps and shipping blankets, I settled on quilted king size bed throws. I reinforced the corners with iron-on patches before adding grommets. I added extra "army hats" purchased from my local RV dealer and use bungee loops to attach to the camper. If it's windy, I use small spring clamps to stabilize the loose ends.

    We use something made for protecting car seats from large dogs. So it is an impermeable pad with a faux woolly top, and that makes it comfortable to sleep on. I just have a cotton jersey sheet over it now. Flannel might work too. And one can also lay a wool blanket over it, between the sheet and pad, for an extra moisture absorbing and insulating layer for winter camping. Works great! Editing to add that it goes under the majority of our body and it is washable.

    Here is a pro tip when installing them by yourself without a helper. The shepherds hook is adjustable in length (at least it is on my Jayco X23E). If you adjust it so that it is a ittle bit shorter then it will hold the pop up in position but it will be a little looser and a lot easier to slip the cover around the support tubes. Then once it is installed then you can return the shepherds hook to it original length. It took me about 45 mins to install the first one but then once I had done 1 and then figured out this trick I installed the other 2 in 30 mins (15 mins each).

    I was looking into Hypervents-its a pad that you place under your mattress and people use it on boats. Search for marine vented mattress. There are also air vented mattress pads that go on top that circulate air through.

    • @jaromthomas1930
      @jaromthomas1930 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, we have tested the Hypervent material, it works to keep your mattress dry, however we still found condensation on the bunk door under hypervent. Just can’t get enough airflow under the mattress to heat up the bunk door above the due point. Good Luck

      If you buy their outside cover first, it Will stop the condensation, I've had the outside covers on my trailer for 3 years now. They are awesome with 3 bunk ends on my trailer. This new product they made I haven't purchased yet, I can see making our trailer warmer and cooler because the tent part of the trailer is now insulated with this product. We also live and camp in Canada. It will extend our use our trailer for sure!!!❤

    • @sunfastproducts1738
      @sunfastproducts1738 ปีที่แล้ว

      We only removed the mattress so the liner would be easier to see. Usually the mattress is there closed up in the bunk with the liner in as well

    • @arthurpeterson1950
      @arthurpeterson1950 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also wondered about the mattress. I would like to see a demonstration with a mattress in place. On my 2017 Rockwood Roo 23WS, closing the bunk end with the mattress in place is a pretty tight fit. Although it is possible to do with a thicker mattress cover in place. But everything has to be just right.

    The gekko cover is fine , but i have a better product. I bought Henrys Solar-Flex White Elatomeric roof coating and painted the canvas pop outs on my rockwood roo. Its mildew and stain resistant. When im in lake havasu its 110 f but in my popout bed its 80f and i dont have to set up the gekko. This stuff is great and adds an extra layer of protection for rain. Reply

    I can see how they would make the bunk end warmer, but do they actually make it cooler in the summer??? The reflection is on the interior of the canvas.

    • @sunfastproducts1738
      @sunfastproducts1738 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Yes they do help keep it cooler in the summer, as they act as insulation. We have tested it at the beach camping and they work well. We still recommend PopupGizmos covers for reflecting direct sun off your bunk though.

    Bought the high wind with Velcro set for our Rockwood pop-up and now we can run the AC on low in the Florida summer heat, we had to staple the Velcro to the wood at the roof ends as the industrial Velcro would not hold even after prepping the wood, however the Velcro over the dinette stayed attached because there is a trim piece over the wood. They really help protect the vinyl from Weather and debris , do wish the dinette cover did have one more cord in the middle not just the outside but do used to provided clips and it stays put. Our experience has been they are not waterproof maybe for a very light quick shower but a good rain And they get soaked underneath probably from all the sewing holes for the support cords, don’t know if you could seal those up with some waterproofing? And the only other thing is they kind of mess up the water dynamics of the tent ends , Most tent ends have a seam on top for both sides and that acts kind of like a gutter for the water running off the roof and tent ends and drip off the very front of the bunks , but now with the gizmos it pulls those down tight and the water can actually run down the side windows where the screen is, haven’t had any leaks but any debris or dirt from the roof does get trapped in the screening. Maybe you could use Clips so the cover forms over the top seems but that kind of defeats the purpose of the Highwind chords. other than that they’ve been great .

      Mike, have you noticed a drastic enough difference in summer when running A/C ? I have a 12’ pop up that I use a 6500 window unit and am back and forth about the $200 investment ....

    • @Mikeb-tx4cd
      @Mikeb-tx4cd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@barccat they are worth every penny. We have a 2022 Flagg Staff duel axle pop up with a 16’ box, it’s 29’ long when extended. It also has a slide out dinette and sleeps 8 people. We go to Port Aransas all the time. After installing the pop up gizmo bunk and dinette covers, along with the double bubble reflectics in the windows (plenty of videos on TH-cam) we have to sleep with blankets at night with the A/c on low. That’s with 5 adults and 2 children and no shade in the summer. During the day, it’s colder then my oldest sons 2022 Grand, Design 31’ travel trailer with 2, 15 thousand BTU air conditioners running on high. Make sure you get the Velcro. I didn’t but just added it last week and it’s so much better with Velcro
