I rotate all my fuses every 6 months.
I just changed out a one-piece VPS shaft and fixed a cobbled road to pump set up on an older 84 Mack with a G-series Tcase. I am now having issues with the allison going in to lock up. Also, the indicator light was botched is the transmission given signal through the indicator circuit, or is it supposed to receive a signal for lock up from the shaft indicator on the rear end of the shaft?
i believe it should be receiving it from the switch on the pump transmission.
What's wrong with the actuator?
I’m having the exact issue with a truck 🤦🏼♂️
we have 4 dash cf pucs that were also doing the same thing. they mount the modules horizontally in the same position, after cleaning and using dielectric grease, the corrosion got so bad we ended up having to re-pin the whole connector. then the data link kept corroding. we ended up separating the j1939 out of the barrel connector and making its own duetch connector.
If you not a engineer on the fire dept. You don't need to know how to start a fire truck. Smh
Some engineers don't know how to properly start there own fire engines. I know cause I have to show them. ;)
@scottyzevt sorry but if you have to show a made engineer how to start the truck. They should demote themselves to the backseat.
@@phxbornandraised1817 you completely missed the point of the video. The video is just to show the proper sequence. some of the drivers/engineers will leave the ignition switch in the on position all the time and just toggle the battery switch, that will damage modules over time. i even say in the video you will get com loss issues if the proper sequence isnt done correctly.
I'm an only EVT here at my maintenance department, and I have to say that I learned something new today. Keep up the good work!
thanks! appreciate it! ill try to keep it up.
Great Video ! Thank you
How do u get to cool
Had something similar happen with the head on my snowblower. It’s the little things that make all the difference 😂
Thanks my dear friend for the video
Good video. I use solvent, like Safty Kleen. Takes it off fast. Same method you're using.
Do you know what it means if the red malfunction light is on and all 4 of the steering lights are blinking? Suspension will not go up when this is happening
should be able to figure it out, have you looked at the manual online? ill post a link, and i look through it to see if i can help you out. baltimorecountyfra.org/inferno/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Liquid-Spring-Manual.pdf page 10
so i just read through what i posted as a link and it doesnt show anything with the red warning light and the 4 steering lights. ill look through my book tomorrow to see if i find anything. if thats a loss ill call my frazer guy.
I would very much appreciate that. I had read through the manual you sent even before watching your video. I cannot find anything out there about this issue.
@@mikeb8133 sorry im just now getting back to you on this. My frazer warranty guy gave me this for you to check.
No problem. Thank you for replying. If you tried to send something with it to it didn't send. Or at least I don't see it lol
Use locking pliers and a pry-bar on the pig tails/ o ring pullers works a lot easier then pulling by hand 👍

@@DLF40i was able to hear mine as well. i also ended up replacing my supply line from the tank. its working alot better now but i think i also need to replace the return line to tank, cause if it sits for more then 4 hours it has a longer then normal start time.
@@scottyzevt I’m going to post a video I’ll try and blow it out tomorrow

good luck pulling it out of the bay without ripping off the mirrors.
I would like hear a comment from Hale on the pump packing adjustment, I worked on a lot of Hale pumps and adjusted a lot of packing and never used an air hammer with a steel flat punch on a brass adjustment ring unless I intended to replace the adjustment ring. The packing is likely full of scale like the bottom of the pump. My tech were suppose put the pump in gear, with the truck not running and make an adjustment while turning the adjustment nut. The reason for this was the pump shaft can float a bit and I have seen older packing that was tighten like this move the impeller into the clearance ring and end up cutting through it. You can feel it if you are turning by hand but you won't if you just run the pump off the engine. Eight drops per minute at 150 I find is a little tight but you can check the shaft and gland temperature with a laser temp tester. The3 reason you want to change the packing every 2 to 3 years is so you change them before thy scale up and get this hard, Hardly ever happens. I believe by the looks of it just changing the packing on the outside of the lantern ring would only be a short solution. I believe to do a proper job you need to drop the pump and check the shaft for grooving and install a new packing and lantern ring. Thanks for your video, just a comment from a old master EVT.
Yeah I really appreciate the comment. Good info. I actually ended up replacing the packaging and adjuster on this very unit.in a later video.
What kind of flow sensor used in the discharge line?
Typically it's a paddle wheel style
So what is the frequency of flow meter calibration you perform ?
What's the drain discharge pressure ?
Nice PLC to operate.
very useful thank you very much ...more videos please

Duh
Great tutorial...now I know how to drain a fire truck that I will never own.
How did you know the lift pump was bad
so i had originally hooked up these clear lines to the lift pump mounted to the truck and it wasn't sucking fuel from the supply line. thats when i grabbed this test pump and tried. i have a follow up video to this one, i think the pump was fine it was the check valve on the pump that was actually stuck closed, i just didnt know at the time of this video.
Thanks mine is just cranking no start. Comes on with starting fluid
There is no reset necessary unless you change transmissions. I checked with the mechanic at the bus garage
What moron decided under the truck was the place to put the modules? I could see this being a real issue in areas where they use a lot of salt in the winter. Clearly, the cannon plugs are prone to moisture, or there wouldn't be corrosion. And to make it worse, you now have a single point of failure that knocks out all the lights on one side of the truck.
100% agree.! smh i cant believe some of these engineers. we've already had another unit we had to completely re-pin, same area.
Yep, i think you are the first to do a full pump packing video.
Cool man!
Scotty how did the foam pump reseal turn out
it turned out well, still working with no leaks. however the other evt tech at the shop just finished a rebuild then afterwards we noticed one of the blocks was actually cracked. make sure to check all the blocks on the foam pump thoroughly. new pump costs 12,000$
Here I am in Grande Prairie Alberta watching a random video of a Grand Prairie Texas fire truck
hey thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info !
Brrroooo how does my dad do this 😫
Turning the fuse around will not do anything, but removing the fuse and putting it back in will reset the system.
You should go watch my full video on this.
The code is because fuel pressure is taking too long to build while cranking. Does the fuel rail pressure drop out after shutting the engine off? It should hold the pressure with the engine off. If it drops rapidly, you have an internal fuel system leak to the fuel return. Could be injector, hp pump, rail pressure relief or a combination of components. Quickserve has an extensive process to diagnose fuel pressure codes.
its dropping out after about 2hours
Thanks junkpile I'll look through quickserve for some more troubleshooting tests.
I would check for air in the fuel next.
@@scottyzevtThank you for the unique Fire Apparatus content!
This stubborn knuckles
It works. Thanks sir.
Sick
How do you get the shaft out
How do you remove the shaft
Are you talking about the inner one?
The inner shaft?
Yes @@scottyzevt
inside the pump transmission there is a fork with a nut that holds the inner shaft. its been awhile since i have done one. if i remember correctly you have to pull the drive line out of the way and take the 4 bolts out of the input shaft. however you may be able to pull the pump shift switch housing off on the back side of the transmission to access the bolt that holds the shaft. hope this helps a little.@@user-hs1yo2di4q
Thanks For the reply. @@scottyzevt
Truthfully, that's the same with any vehicle or big truck, and all for the same reason. You're supposed to turn the key and let all the computers cycle via the dash lights all cutting on and then going out, then switch the ignition!
Awesome!!, I like how pierce uses International gauge cluster
I actually learned it's not even an "International" gauge cluster. Just a cluster Pierce and Navistar use from a separate 3rd party.

Do you know if Waterous has anodes? 2006 and up pumps we run.
Hey kygraeb10! so it depends if the pump got spec with anodes. on some of my hale pumps i had to add them. do you happen to have the serial number for the waterous pump you have? i might be able to help you figure it out.
@@scottyzevt Okay, I took a quick look at ours and we didn't seem to have them. (17 Seagrave Hydro Force 2000 GPM Waterous Production number 88022) Definitely gonna spec them into our new apparatus though. Thank you!! I'm also still green with fire apparatus maintenance, I came from a Mack dealer.
