I think every footballer should chip in for Paul Elliott who lost about £500k on the case, whether you think he should have won the case or not (most people here clearly think he should,). It's hard to believe it now, but there was a massive culture in football of "what happens on the pitch should say on the pitch", "it's a man's game" , "if you play football, you accept risk" etc. Legally this was absolute bollocks, but it was still widely believed, and as a result football was way more dangerous than it needed to be. Paul bringing this case brought home to people that they could end up in court for thuggery on the pitch. As a result, football was massively improved. Paul did all of us a service.

Great, old-school football from the long lost era of classic English football at its very best. I remember this Chelsea team as a 9 year old (although I'm a Fulham fan because my late Father was born there - and he was always a lifelong supporter from 1945 onwards). Football is very tribal - and Chelsea, like other west London clubs were always rivals; like QPR or Brentford. Yet . . . Chelsea had a great side back then - well balanced and with pace, guile and full-on power. For sure, the likes of stars like Peter Osgood and Peter Bonetti or Alan Hudson will always shine; but what about unsung heroes like Peter Houseman, Charlie Cooke or Dave Webb ? Thoroughly deserved winners in my opinion - and it's always great to see true sportsmanship from the Leeds players at the end of the replay at Old Trafford.

My first ever Premier League game. Remember there was a power failure at halftime on the main stand and an attendance around 12.000. Times have certantly changed 🙂

Ray Wilkins brother Graeme playing for Chelsea if my memory serves me right. Back then Utd did last minute come backs. Brian Greenhoff was such a good player for Utd. Sadly no longer with us. I miss that era of football. Its gone too tactical today.
