Sharing the lessons learned on my journey to filling my first international shipping container with European vintage, antiques, and interior design elements. We discuss the challenges and solutions I encounter while preparing my small mobile startup. I'm pulling back the curtain to reveal the process of establishing a highly curated booth at antique shows such as Brimfield and Roundtop Texas. Though I have a sweet spot for antiques, I cover content that is educational and helpful to small business entrepreneurs, resellers, boutique owners, pop up shops, antique dealers, mobile market exhibitors, and people on the grind. We will discuss subjects such as sourcing European product from private classifieds, accepting mobile payments, technology and apps, import and export of international shipping containers, customs considerations, logistics, booth and shop staging, refurbishing, and appropriate pricing for items sold. Basically anything connected with small business commerce.

You could solder a small patch over the holes is you wanted to seal it up.

As a caretaker... Clearing the perimeter makes sense. Eaves should drip on gravel. Doing it however... Good on ya for getting started.
Chris, progress is looking good. Glad you had more friends show up to help out! When pulling stumps and old roots out next to a building, always make sure they are not directly on top of any utility pipes that you might accidentally break and pull out with them!😮 Keep on Truckin’😎
It's looking good. I love the door color. ❤️👍🇺🇲
Chris there is a family in Indiana that is restoring a school house to live in and they discovered a company that recycles paint that can be tinted to any color that you want and is a fraction of the cost of new paint... Get you some painter's tape.. its a lot easier than using a razor blade.. more professional looking also... Thx for bringing us along on another adventure...
Been watching from nearly the beginning - really enjoy your videos… but I have one nagging question - couldn’t you have found a building to renovate closer to your home?
Love the doors….❤
You got some amazing work done this year before winter set in.
Where is link to your wish list👌
The work you and your friends are doing is very impressive. Keep at it, friend! ❤
Sorry to say this. You are not a good painter. That wood thing you tried to get out of the ground probably have to be dug out. A full days work, if you dont have som huge machinery.
A package drop into the building through an existing opening like a window. That way most packages will go through and drop into the building. You do realize you probably just ruined that wood chisel??
The old numbers look like the 1950s - 70s sheet aluminium ones that had a brass finish. They likely nailed them on because there's usually just a peel-and-stick adhesive on the back. First coat of dark paint over white primer tends to always look scary. Looks really good with a second coat, though!
A painters tip...you can tint the primer to the color of the top coat, that helps to get a nice finish color. But I gotta say...those doors say " I am a working building again."
I was just about to say that I was a for years and it does work
When using a prybar or claw hammer to remove nails, place a piece of plywood-board-steel underneath the tool to spread the pressure to keep from denting the surface you are working on. Thick enough to do the job but not so thick that it impedes the leverage of the tool.
Maybe there's some sort of nontoxic chemicals that you can spray on some of the overgrowth to kill it? I know they make stuff that supposedly goes deep down to the root. Maybe think about that? As far as the cars go, let him know you're gonna have the local junker haul them off, and they will be scrapped if he doesn't come and get them that should force him to get those things out of here.
The Doors look great !
Such great friends to come back and help again!! The building keeps looking better!!
When pulling bushes out soak area with garden hose first an they will come out easier
We can all hope it doesn't grow back. Not sure that is how it works though.
They look like they're brand new doors again😊
I recall hearing those glass blocks have a pressurized core. Maybe someone can confirm.
A good second hand back hoe would speed everything up 100 times not to mention the amount of work you can do in a day. Do what you can with what you have I guess.
Every newly opened door, reveales another mess to clean. With all the roof issues, it's hard to concentrate on the elevator. I do believe outside sources will provide.
You need to contact matoon for beams and bricks! There is no hope for that building and yours is doing great. Keep it out of the landfill!
Good job lifting up the beans I like the music you play coming along at work left
If only there were machines with buckets and such that used high pressure liquid that can lift and move very heavy things. Oh well. 🙂
Great work. Have you got any quotes yet for new roof? Curious how bad it is.
We only yell because we care. Now you can Celebrate Christmas with you and family with a smile on your face!
Great job Bob and Chris that will hold. Chris better get Ibeams on order now before Trump comes into office in January. He is claiming high tarries and he is making problems with the sale of a steel company. I am serious it will probably cost you double.
nice work. Also good to see you can lift that section with a 3 ton jack. Each step will add some greater longevity to the building.
I would use the window as the door
Hi Chris and Bob, great work on the beams. In regard to the steel beam replacement, can you buy 2nd hand from another old factory selling off stuff? Might save a few bucks. Thanks.
Hard hats please! And not quite done yet - add some 2x4’s in an “X” pattern to tie the beams, temp posts, and existing columns together. Both sides. Despite what one might think, gravity is a lousy fastener/anchor. I’d also suggest doubling up that one single temp support on the 2nd floor given its carrying the load of the 3rd floor and roof. Maybe it was just the camera angles but it looked like it was bowing under load. With winter coming they’ll be more rain (and snow - yes?) so the load on those temporary columns could get pretty heavy. Tying them all together is a must and pretty easy to do. Keep it up - you’re making real progress!

Please stop those stupid songs. You’re better than that.
ChrisBob, keep up the good work! My solution for this problem would have been much more involved….so you guys wouldn’t have been too happy with me for all the hours and hard labor! 😂 I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that this works out well for you! Keep on Truckin’😎
ChrisBob, I get what you’re trying to do but it’s not how I would be fixing this problem at all. In fact, I have done this type of project numerous times with great success. I really hope your idea works out for you and keeps the whole floor system stable in the long run. Keep on Truckin’😎
Needs some big screw jacks
Dont knock out original brick be really stupid to destroy that building
The guys who doesn't like heights on a "secured" ladder!
IF the city or county needs a space, that could be your grant. Those ceilings are so high, it would be perfect wall climbing gym.
You couldn't use that sheet metal on the roof?
Good morning Chris and Bob. I am glad Bob is helping you. Bob is a hard worker like you Chris. God Bless you both Chris i love you're videos 📹
Thank you for the kind words. Due to my age Chris does most of the heavy lifting. This was the most physically demanding job that we've done since I've been helping. Most of it was done in one long grueling day. It's good to know that a senior citizen can still be useful lol. Bob
Chris , the building is coming along quite nicely. Glad you got the roof secured for now. Perhaps with it coming into the colder season you can throw some of that combustible garbage out and make a big burn pile and get rid of some of it that way? Get a burn permit, of course and make sure to have your water tank and pressure washer on handgood source containing the blaze. I think that would reduce the garbage immensely in the building. Most of it seems to be things that are combustible.
I sure hope Santa brings you some gloves 🧤🎄
Gloves, hard hats ,safety glasses. Lol we both got splinters doing this but I just hate working in gloves. Bob
