Some of those male officials get on a power trip and start throwing their weight around left and right. I was at a USD game in South Dakota years ago when one of the Coyote players was just walking down the court. As he did so one of the officials backed into him and called a technical on him for something he didn't do. Fortunately the other two officials called the official on it and ordered him to the back court. They had to let the technical stand but the crowd got extremely loud over it and let that guy know what they thought of his officiating.

Under NCAA rules is a disqualified coach allowed to communicate with her team at halftime?

I officiated football and basketball when you get tired in the middle of the season you can get like this as an official. He is probably burned out and tired.

The late great Hall of Fame Basketball Coach John Chaney once said to me, "those who can not coach, officiate."

College reffing is really bad this year, men and woman. I suspect burnout is part of it. Too many reviews and technicals. Fouls called with minimal contact while nothing called and corpses are laying all around the floor. Last nights Vols game half the players, both teams were laid out on the floor and no foul called either way. I think it was 5 or 6 players involved. There is no consistency so players have no clue how aggressive they can play. It’s really a mess.

Dude doesn't have what it takes to be a referee. More referees really should be fired for incompetence, I mean, it's on video. If you can't do it, you can't do it.

This is not an isolated incident. The NCAA is at fault here. The officiating overall is horrendous throughout the system and the NCAA has continuously turned a blind eye. In some cases it has actually led to dangerous play. I have two daughters who play Division 2 basketball and the officiating is just beyond terrible. Not just in calls but being out of position to make calls, lack of rule enforcement and just in the overall inconsistency and arrogance on the part of the officials. These players work extremely hard all season to do the right things on the court and to take that away because you have no pride or sense of obligation to your profession is nothing short of criminal. These people are WELL PAID at the college level. Go get a second job at Home Depot or something if you need extra money. Don't take it out on hardworking dedicated young people.

I don’t agree with that but it’s how I saw it. I wasn’t there so I don’t know what all happened. Let’s you know on all levels there are bad refs.

This is class, coach. Brilliantly done. As a sports official, I am REALLY angry that this happened. It makes us ALL look bad that one official could get this so wrong, and then compound it so much and make it worse. If ever there was a situation that demonstrates the importance of consider context before jumping to conclusion, it's this one.

Good luck to these three, especially the ref who gave the first T in getting hired to ref future games. He couldn't officiate a 5th grade game.

Today's athletes whether young or old do have their own selfishness. They have to draw attention to themselves. But even an old days you were proud of a great play or a score. It's just channeling it good. This girl did nothing wrong it's crazy maybe there was something going on before the game. Maybe the referee had a bad game before this one and didn't want certain things to get out of hand. But you got to be able to breathe in a game thumbs down on the referee

There are some very terrible officials

All we have are a bunch of amateurs in college basketball, men's and women's. There is far too much money in college sports for this kind of ridiculous refs. The coach should have removed all her players and called the game, and let those refs explain it to the NCAA.
