Incorrect. SJP which is located on the western edge of Newcastle city centre was used from the 1870s for informal games of Football before being used by the Northumberland FA and Newcastle Rangers. In 1881 a new team, Stanley FC formed which initially played at Stanley Street (hence their name) in Byker in the East End of the city. After a few months however they moved to play at Priory Green and then Union Road, again both in the Byker area and changed their name to Newcastle East End in 1882 to avoid confusion with teams from the County Durham town of Stanley (approx 15 miles away). In 1885, Newcastle East End moved to a ground just off Chillingham Road in the neighbouring Heaton area of the city. Meanwhile, the team mentioned in the video, Newcastle West End formed in 1882, playing in a number of grounds around the North and Western edges of the town moor before eventually settling at St James’ Park after the collapse of Newcastle Rangers. In 1890 Newcastle East End launched a share issue to raise revenue, which was successful and allowed the club to make attract better players. Seeing their success , Newcastle West End followed suit but it was a disaster and plunged the club into financial difficulty. By the end of the 1891/92 season West End’s board of directors concluded that the club couldn’t continue. They proposed to East End’s directors that as the only professional club remaining in the city that East End move to the centrally located St James’ Park and take on West End’s lease. East End accepted and moved in to St James’ Park in September 1892. As they were no longer playing in the East End and to attract fans from across the city they decided to hold a public meeting in December 1892 to choose a new name. An overwhelming majority voted for Newcastle United.

When they change the name of the train station to suit you, Then you know how big you have become :)
