I'm actually a typist, and I find their keystrokes a little distracting. Thinking, "Did I type an extra letter or number?" Music's nice and soothing once the keystrokes stop. Nice job!

I have that radio, phone, fan and an older typewriter that gleams like the flashing of a neon light. Spends years in thrift stores and antique malls and you pick those things up for cheap.

The heat in the office let off a faint scent of stale cigars and the distinct Bakelite smell the phone gave off as I dialed for the Dame. I knew she had more information, but only a drink and a face to face would loosen her up. She had this way about her. I bit my lower lip, knowing I could easily fall for her, but she was poison, pure poison. The fan ruffled the stack of papers as I gathered them up, grabbing my overcoat. This rain wasn't about to let up, but neither was I. Hitting that little dive I immediately saw her, wearing that tight sheath dress, cigarette dangling from her ruby red lips, half drunk glass on the table in front of her. "Keep a girl waiting why don't you" was her first words. I was already falling for her.

I was watching me a nice painting tutorial ASMR video whilst listening to this, and it's very secluded and keeps me in a chill mood when I'm laying in bed 🛌🏾 Jazz is such a mood that you just can't avoid living in, it's a way of life as much as any other scintillating music folks grew up witnessing to hear through their times of depression, fatigues, and wonder.

The Phone and typewriter noises etc just pull me out of the zone, I'm sorry to say.... probably has to do with my office days long ago when I had to try to work and write on a typewriter with a couple of other people.

Writing a film noir - esque story right now, this is perfect inspiration.

I just found this, and I wanted to say thanks. I'm a burgeoning mystery writer. I'm currently working on my first manuscript as a part of my MFA program. I have a homicide detective who is training the newest detective in his unit. She's a pain in the ass, and he's just an ass. Together their like oil and water. But there is something deeper between them, that neither is expecting. I could really use something solomn for crime scenes, like when they arrive at a new body.

omg this is incredible...ive finally found my dream ambiance...I cant just imagine the dirty streets, the cheap whiskey and the long rainy night ahead of this detective. As the city pulses with night owls, who is to say what the hours ahead hold

Allow me to introduce myself: (takes out a cigar/lighter puts cigar in his mouth/lights it/ takes out his wallet/shows badge/ID) Name's Keller, Hayes Keller, Detective Lt., NYPD 53rd Precinct Robbery Division, Brooklyn. This is the story of one of my recent cases. It was a Tuesday night, i was working late that night in my office on the 3rd floor of the 53rd Precinct in Brooklyn, working on a report of a recent robbery at a diner where two employees/good friends of mine were killed 3 days ago, I was just about to finish my report and go get something to eat, when all of a sudden, my office phone rang , when the phone starts ringing at 3 AM, its not a good sign. (phone ringing) "53rd Precinct Robbery Division, Det. Lt. Keller speaking, I said, as I answered it, Captain (over phone) Keller, this is Captain Bartlett, Im sorry to bother you at this late hour, but there's been another robbery, Hammerman's Cafe, 302 E Caroline Street. I need you to come down right away. "Im on my way Captain, I said. I hung up the phone, grabbed my gun, hat, and coat and headed to the scene. It only took me about 5 to 15 minutes to get to the scene, when i arrived, there were police cars: Marked and unmarked, uniformed officers, two FDNY ambulances. The paramedics were treating 2 patients that had been shot. "its going to be a long night, I said to myself.

I dunno if this is "Magical Realist" in vibe. It's very grand, wherein magical realist fiction typically describes people in dreary, often bleak situations. Either that, or the "little guys" in a time of mass political upheaval, typically with a bit of magic as a treat. Maybe "Contemporary Fantasy" is a better name for it? This does fall in line with things like Harry Potter and Max the Magician.
