I am using an antenna tuned for Airband frequencies! In the comparison test I used a homemade outdoor j antenna, which was only used to have the same signal available for all the units. Although NOT Airband tuned, it worked fine.

I just got the H3. Looking at getting the H8, because more radios. Question about using both ham and gmrs. On my h3. I can only set itbup for one or the other even in "normal" mode. On my Baofengs, i can transmit and monitor both ham and gmrs at the same time without re uploading one or the other profiles. Is that the case on the H8 or does it have to be reuploaded to switch for ham or gmrs use? Inlike my Baofengs for one radio to monitor AND use at the same time.

As I mentioned in the video, YES, most are actually NOT GPS radios! There are so many variants to this model, each vendor tries to get more sales by reducing features when they order, (a few pennies at best) and they sell them like crazy! It has to say 17Pro GPS otherwise it is not!

Is there a 17 pro that doesn’t have gps? The one I’m looking at online says uv-17 pro (sometimes pro max) but doesn’t mention gps at all, otherwise looks the same. I just want it to be legal.

Yeah who wants to spend 300.00 for a radio come on a handheld that could break if I break one of these radios I could just pull another one out of my pack you got to think outside the box you're right you're absolutely right I'm not going to spend $300 for a radio and worried about it getting broke and I'll have it mostly in my backpack and not out using it I'll just buy one just for show just to sit on my charging desk but my Baofang it's fine you're absolutely right for $25 30 it's well worth it😮

Don't complain about it it's great for camping for the terrain for hiking that has three bands 220m and 440 and the 2-meter band it's great and has USB c charging man I hate when everybody gets on here about a radio and complains sound like a bunch of whining babies it's a great radio you want to spend $300 on the radio and get it broke not me I'll buy two or three of them just to have around they're great radio Baofeng does it again and they keep getting better and better every production every time they come out with a new radio it's always good who cares if the knob looks like the quad Sheen whatever the hell it's called I like the knob I think it's cool it's more up-to-date it's sporty and I loved it and you love it too so don't complain that's why you bought one because you're going to use it on 220

The giant uv5rm are the same internal radio. If I had known that. I would have got the 17pro. GPS I'm not so big on. I will offer to trade you 2 uv5rm for 2 of the 17. Or 1 for 1.

TD H3 comes in two models, GMRS and HAM. Being on the GMRS version we can boot to HAM, why two versions? Everything I have read and watched on TH-cam I do not see any difference between both versions. Am I missing something? Overall, I am pleased with my GMRS version. Also, as with you their support is excellent.

The uv 17 pro gps is not the same as the uv 13 pro...the latter has a much better receiver

What about the spacing? Are some compatible with 8.33 kHz?

I got my now, and the airband sounds like xxxx, if you want quality on airband the Quangshen is the way to go (modded)

Got my 17 pro GPS yesterday. For $20, its a steal.

I get 8.6 watts outta' mine. Incredible battery life. Programmed fine as the Tidradio. Poor man's 70cm mobile with an old Tram mobile mount. Other radio I've got is an Alinco DR-130TQ I picked up NOS for 40 bux.

When you switched to ham, did the wattage changed from 5 watts to 10 watts? If not , then It’s better to get the ham version and then switch to gmrs? Is there any difference between the ham and gmrs version?

Hi, do you know how to get into self mode in this device with keypad ? Which buttons should I pushed? And do you know is it possible to expand the limit frequency?

It actually finds and lists the repeaters in your area and then you can save them into the radio! Works well actually!

Does the program using blue tooth allow you to set your location to program repeaters? Thinking of getting for my dad he lives out of state and I would like to set up for him in his location.

So many of the CCRs have terrible airband reception, due to not having proper am receive ability. The result is that they either sound like they are off frequency or really distorted. I have just ordered the new Retevis A1/A61, so will wait to see if it is any better, being brand new. To truly enjoy clear audio, you need to use one of the big four Japanese manufacturers; albeit at greater cost.

I got the Abree 320a antenna, the Tri band one. Get great reception (for an HT) on all bands: FM, Air, NOAA, 2m, 1.25m, 70cm, GMRS. This is the HT I keep on my side table.

This is always so hilarious. Ham nerds, this just in. Fentanyl comes from chyna ..it’s illegal mmkay. Radios come from chyna ..they are illegal mmkay. who actually cares anything about the radios? No one ..mmkay. What I’ve done here is stated the complexities of illegal activities and just how abso/ridic the thought process is. Anyways. I like my baofeng and I also like my spectrum analyzer. Hi I just came across your site which I find very interesting I am not an expert in any way but I was very interested in fang radio with airband a couple of months ago I was wondering does it have this steps involved which are new now to airband I think it's 8.33 if it doesn't8.33 is mandatory in Europe as of January 2018. if flying in controlled airspace in Europe, if you fly with a radio it must be an 8.33kHz radio.
