Hola, dónde se puede comprar? Precio?
Excellent as always Alex.
Is it necessary to talk such.....durrrrrr
Looks like you have done that before 😂 very helpful 👍
At least once or twice! Happy to help!
If a bit of close cell foam were stuffed into the ends of each of the 3 pieces of the mast, then they would probably float...just in case
I'm looking to buy a Minicat 420 for below retail.
Thank you so much ! This video was invaluable for me as a beginner ! Minicat should be paying you for these video 😀
How does the minicat compare with the centerboard catamarans in terms of ability to beach? Are the smartkat and happycat safer for shallow waters? Is there a significant difference in terms of performance between cats of the same size/sail area? Do the centerboard ones point any better than the minicat?
These are really great videos, thank you. I recently bought an X Cat and haven’t managed to dump the mainsail in sticky situations. Is that because I didn’t lower the boom first? Do you have any tips? Thanks!
What an amazing mechanism. How does the feathering work?
Onde comprar um minucat deste aí?
This style of MiniCat is no longer available. But the new Guppy is even easier to build and even faster on the water! Find your local dealer on www.minicatamaran.eu
is that carbon fiber ?? I think that's why it seems so easy
Like if u ar watching this video but u didnt get a minicat yet
What do you do when the edge of the trampoline does not want to click down and when you finally get it to click down it is impossible to disassemble?
I would try to jiggle the boat a bit and re-square the frame. If that doesn't sort it, could you potentially take a video of the issue and I could provide a bit more insight? You can send the video to me at redbeard@redbeardsailing.com and I would be happy to help troubleshoot your issue!
How long did it take to dry after taking it out of the water? How thoroughly do you need to towel it down?
Looking to getting one but concerned about the availability of parts if in need of replacement like the trampoline, rudder etc. individually. Are these maintenance items readily available from here or on the official Xcat site for future support? Thanks.
In the past 9 years, there have been very few replacement parts needed (perks of a boat that isn’t typically stored outdoors). We generally stock replacement parts in the USA, if we don’t have them, they can usually be air freighted from Austria. Sales are very strong, I don’t expect this brand to go away anytime soon.
@@redbeardsailing Thank you for the prompt response. Will get in touch in the future via email.
What the hull is under 7 years of warranty? from minicat? where did you get this info?
This was an official change in the MC Warranty Policy in 2023. For what it’s worth, I’ve been a dealer for Minicat since 2015, I’ve sold hundreds of Minicats in that period, I’ve never had a hull warranty claim.
@@redbeardsailing so if I bought a minicat before 2023 does it work for me as well? again where do you find this information, on the website I still see 24 months...
No, if you purchased your minicat before November 2023, your minicat has a 24-month warranty. After that date and it’s covered under a 24-month boat warranty and a 7-year hull skin warranty. If you send me an email at inquiry@redbeardsailing.com, I’ll send you the official Minicat warranty policy.
@@redbeardsailing too bad, I got one October 2023... so I guess its not covered
Nice! No mention of any of those updates on Minicat's web site, so it was a pleasant surprise to see them here. Looking forward to the full assembly video.
Hi, nice video. How long are the big bags? Regards from Germany
The two larger bags are ~68” x 13” x 13”, pack them poorly and they might be bigger by an inch or two.
so about $50,000?
The 460 esprit starts at $8950 USD, including shipping.
Stowing the deck looks easy, but I'm watching from the view of a person in a wheelchair. That appeared to be the only clear obstruction.
love your videos, you make all your boat assembly videos look so easy.
Great video, thank you! I’m getting my X-Cat in March and I’ll use your video to learn to set it up and pack it away.
Excellent demo!
Do you recommend happycat or minicat for SF Bay Area sailing?
can you trapeze on these?
Which model would you advice between guppy and 420 Instinct model ?
Dropped you a response on instagram!
@@redbeardsailing i watched on it....Thank You very much 👍
in my opinion this looks plain masochistic, as rowing can be made by letting your back fall to a seat, so all that gravity moves the boat instead using the back and arm muscles, and you can attach ropes from your chest to the rowing poles to stop wearing your hand muscles, that way you dont make any effort at all. besides the rowing poles should be converted with interchangeable design and used as sail mast and 2 kickup rudders too, to use it as sailboat when theres wind all boats should return to be sailrowing as always instead sailmotor, motor or rowing
Alex do you guys sell the side attachments for the dolphin striker? My dolphin striker seems to be slight bent to one side. And I am worried about it not being 90 degrees from frame cross beam.
Why you are not selling tiwals?
Tiwal sells directly into the USA, they are not interested in any dealers in the USA (aside from the one guy in Washington State).
First class video. What kind of pump is that you are using? Where can you buy it . Thank you, Theo from holland.
Hi Theo, Thank you for the kind words! We are using a Takacat Volume Inflator, but you can probably find it locally as a Flextail Gear Max Pump Plus , then pair it with a universal Halkey-Roberts valve adapter.
this needs to have less ropes and less complicated winding and wiring and looming and whatnot. And it'd be perfect
The XCAT is the easiest to rig beach cat on the market. I can build the whole boat from a pile of parts to sails up in 10 minutes, I can’t imagine it being easier.
Anyone know exactly what electric pump he's using ?
Super erklärt, vielen Dank!
very good assembly video, thank you!! What size of snap shackles do you use?
Superb explanation of the process!
Super-clear outline of assembly procedure. Would be great to see an outline of STANDARD TACKING on the XCAT. (Not the Xcat “float backwards” method!)
I had a lot of content recorded for that video… then I haplessly knocked my camera in the drink! I might suggest bringing a cooler with ice or otherwise put as much weight forward as possible. That makes a significant difference in the boats agility on the water.
1 hour???? 😮 🤦🤦🤦
If you’re interested in buying a MiniCat 420, then you’d likely watch this video. If you watch this video, you’ll see that it doesn’t take an hour for you to build the boat, just an hour to teach how to build the boat. 😉
Great Video! I wish I had this the first time I assembled my 420....
Same. I've lost a keel in the lake (underinflation + bad insertion), had the mast fall (bowsprit turnbuckles shook loose) and threaded the main halyard the wrong way. All while on the water. Hopefully the big mistakes are all behind me. There were a number of good tips here that are new to me (figure 8 knot on the forestay, have forestay half-taut _before_ setting the mast, tying the jib sheets together). I was also unaware of the tiny inflator. Great video.
great video Thanks
Гениальное изобретение! Серьёзная нагрузка классической гребли в сочетании со взглядом вперед.
really good instruction video!!! when you use a electric pump you can set up the boat completely easy in 45 minutes. When the pump inflates you can use the time to make ready the mast meanwhile etc.
Why on the website it says 30 minutes then?
I love this boat...
It's newer model
perfect user manual for my clients. Thank You for it.
Happy to help!
You can a portable little pump on the internet
Yes, we sell a plethora of pump options as well.
Approximately how much does each bag weigh? Any tips if you are launching and recovering off a beach or you should wash everything down once you get home I guess?
The bags weigh roughly 60-70 pounds each (some models have carbon bits that reduce weight). Some customers need to buy a 3rd bag to travel via air (depending on airline). You can rinse at home, or there is a product called RinseKit which makes rinsing on the beach very convenient.
Hey Alex, so an hour is reasonable ? 45 minutes would mean a lot of hard work and a chance something goes wrong ? Asking for a old friend(!) who can't see they will ever get to to 45 minutes (!)
I think it takes everyone a different amount of time. If I am alone, and have an auto inflator, I can typically do it in 20-30 minutes, especially if I knew I was being timed. I think for the average user 30-60 minutes is achievable by most.
@@redbeardsailing Well, I will keep trying.
@@bradwright4515 the two longest steps (time wise) are the lacing and inflation steps. You could try and get a faster method of lacing (Minicats quick lacing accessory) and a good 2 stage electric pump and one of our TVIs (or air mattress style volume pump) to make inflation a breeze. If these were snap-your-finger-and they’re-done steps, assembly could probably be done in 10-15 minutes of easy work.
@@redbeardsailing Now you are scaring me ! But I will take all your advice.
@@bradwright4515 I have 8 years of experience with the MiniCat 420, I would consider myself advanced in skill with regards to assembly. Some customers have started leaving hulls inflated and attached to the frame and just transport the base boat on the roof of their car. Not sure if that’s an option for you, but one you may consider if you are trying to simplify your steps to going sailing.
Excellent video! We'll be trying several of the ideas in this video with our MiniCat 420 next time we're out on Lake Pleasant, AZ.
Thanks to this excellent video, next time my wife and I are out with our MiniCat 420 we'll be using several better ways of disassembling and packing! We've been sailing it for two and a half years now and still finding better ways to do things.
Thank you so much for the kind words! It is great to hear you and your wife are still enjoying your 420 Carbon!
