Today we went to one of my FAVORITE roadside fishing holes in search of some WILD Brook Trout! The day started out slow but eventually we had some great luck! I caught a nice eating size brook trout that we where able to clean out and cook up. Kept it because it was out competing the native brook trout in this stream all below this hole there was no trout
@@FishingWithSeper Oh if it was West Virginia there are only one stream with while rainbow and it’s rare
Im all about catching cool fish but can we not pretend like its difficult to reel in a fish that weighs less than a pound? Ok cool, now that we got that out of the way.....natural trout aren't rare they just aren't as simple minded as the trout use to being hand fed by humans and thus don't get caught as often.
That may be true for other parts of the US but just speaking from where I live and my experiences fishing everywhere around me in my state a wild bow in this stream is very rare and it’s not hard to reel in a 1 pounder but having them not come of the hook is a different story
Rare trout and killed it.
Out competes native brook trout in streams especially this size all below this spot wasn’t any fish. Got to this hole and found out why want more fish in streams kill the top competitor

Wild rainbows are awesome. I’ve only had the privilege of getting one tiny native bow when I was really little living in Alaska. Now, in the area I fish in CT, they are extremely rare.
There’s only very few spots around me with wild rainbows but they are always super tiny it was awesome to actually catch one that was worth eating! Alaska sounds so sick to fish!

Love me some small stream fishing! Finally got myself out again for a few brookies but the brook was extremely low. Like bad. The fish were still biting though and I managed to get two before the mosquitoes took over.
I’ve been seeing the same the streams have been SUPER low so far this year luckily the deep pools is giving them some cover!

Any tips for someone that wants to Fish? Assume they have a rod and hooks!
Definitely use Fishbrain or google maps to find some good spots in your area and when you goto the store check to see what baits and lures are selling the most! That’s the best way to tell what’s being used

For anyone talking about that the fish is tiny: Native brook trout are normally extremely small if you don’t know yet. His that he caught was actually a really nice brookie and isn’t small. Very different from stockers which get much bigger.

The Colorado river is littered with brook trout and you managed to catch the smallest one
Well considering I’m in Vermont it’s not possible for me to cast all the way across the country
D1 hater, go touch grass bro.
I highly suggest getting a net because when the trout is flopping around like that and hitting things it can damage it. A white rubber net would be good because it is meant for catch and release and is healthy for the fish.

@@brucecalaway9475 new nets coming soon got a nice carbon fiber with rubber net and it’s retractable my other net had got caught so the cord snapped so it was easy to lose

@@FishingWithSeper My buddy just caught a giant 15” native in Connecticut. I’ve been fishing this little stream where I post some shorts at and I recently caught my pb 11”. I know a lot about trout fishing but it took me a long time to find good spots because I used to move a lot. That’s why my pb is so small.🤣So yeah I guess it’s been good. Surprising because I rarely hear everyone talk about how brookie fishing is good in CT.
