Comparing two 1979 Yamaha Guitars: G255-S vs. GC-15
มุมมอง 2.3K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Interesting opportunity to compare two guitars, one being the top of the line of the mass manufactured guitars, and the other one of the best handmade grand concert models. No post processing (reverb or EQ) have been applied, to ensure you listen to the raw and natural sound from them. If you want to go directly to the sound samples, jump to minute 16. Enjoy!
Wolf notes on a classical guitar: How to fix them?

In this video, I share my solution to a common problem on concert level instruments: wolf notes. I share some tips on how to compensate and make them sound more even. Hope you find it useful.
What is a Back Buzz on a Guitar?
มุมมอง 813 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this short video I explain what a back buzz is and how to properly fix it. There are other temporary ways to fix it, but I don't find them very effective or useful so will stick to the right way of addressing it. Hope you find it useful.
Cliffs of Dover Intro - Eric Johnson - Economy picking alternative
มุมมอง 1974 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is my own arrangement for an easier way to play this classic and challenging intro, but using economy picking for the end. If you are better at economy picking than alternate picking, you want to see this! Check it out. Guitar: 1968 Gibson SG Special, with Kinman P90Hx on the bridge Amp Sim: Scuffham S-Gear.
Julia Florida - A. Barrios, after learning it the day before
มุมมอง 3554 หลายเดือนก่อน
I have been through some Barrios' period of learning, so I will put this up as well after learning it yesterday (never played it before, but was somewhat familiar with it). It is cool to look back after some time when you keep playing the piece and have matured your interpretation, to see how bad it was at the beginning, so I will leave it here and come back to laugh at later on... Yamaha G-255S and Tornavoz experiment
มุมมอง 3294 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is an experiment about adding a tornavoz (a cylindrical piece inside the soundhole), and the effect it has on the sound. Basically, this confirms that the tornavoz affects the basses, making them sound deeper, like if you applied an equalisation to it, but it is natural. Also, I took advantage of the 3D printing and added a fretboard extension, where I was able to add a fret. This guitar (...
Un sueno en la floresta - Agustin Barrios Mangore
มุมมอง 6314 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was just a quick recording to test my new/old guitar (1979 Yamaha GC-15), and the prototype of a combination of a tornavoz and fretboard extension. Since this piece was originally composed with a guitar that had 20 frets, rather than the typical 19 of most classical guitars, I thought it could be a good showpiece to try. I would also like to thank my colleague and friend Dimitrios Adamidis...
Cliffs of Dover intro, without a pick at the end.
มุมมอง 1.2K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
I’m testing a new fingering and picking patterns for the intro, especially the end. I will soon post a tutorial as I think this way is much easier for folks used to economy picking! And it can be played with a pick, of course!

Lovely. I enjoyed listening. New subscriber
Awesome! Thank you for subscribing and hope you like the content. I’ll be posting less this month as I am preparing for a concert, but by mid December I’ll come back to posting more. Cheers!
WOW!! ... very good. .. well played, Sir!
Thank you so much! Much appreciated, cheers.
Interesting. Ive always been aware of this but i never considered correcting it. Sometimes i use the wolf notes to emphasize parts in songs. Thank you for sharing this, this might help me in the future as I have been building acoustic guitars.
Glad it was helpful! And thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers
Wow, what a performance. Great Job. 😊
Thank you very much!
@doctor7music91 welcome. I ve been playing guitar too and i know how much practising this needs.
Sublime
Thank you so much!
So beautiful it gives me the chills, bravo!
Glad you like it!
Wow...love the interpretation. Beautifully played...thanks for posting.
My pleasure Steve, thanks for the kind words!
amazing play, can i have the guitar tab, please, thank a lot
Thank you! If you search for John Bishop Edwards - Claire de Lune, you’ll find the score and it comes with guitar TAB as well. It’s not expensive. Good luck!
Brillante interpretación! Saludos desde Ushuaia Argentina
Gracias tocayo, saludos desde Exeter, U.K.
Maybe i need to play this pieces again😔
Everyone that knows how to play it should come often back to it, and everyone who has the skills should learn it too. It’s so beautiful!
excellent job
Thank you very much!
Awesome!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Bravo ! Why do you say "Quick rendition" ? What would be a normal rendition ? I enjoyed your playing, thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much Alain! What I meant by quick rendition is that I didn’t spend much time doing this… one take for the second movement and 2 takes for the other two and I picked the best. There are some inconsistencies with tempo and other imperfections, but I guess it is acceptable.
SG with a vibrola P90s❤❤
Right? It’s perfect!

Thank you!
This was absolutely fantastic! Absolutely beautiful, well done, and thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the kind words and I am very glad that you liked it. It is my pleasure to share.
Absolutely gorgeous. You made my morning a good one. Thanks for that. Cheers.
Aww, lovely to read this and your comment made my morning a good one too, so thank you! All the best,
Merci
You are welcome and thank you for taking the time to listen.
Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic job on a very difficult piece . The harmonics on that Yamaha are amazing all over .
Thank you so much guynoir!
Impressive, do you have an arrangement written?
Thanks! This arrangement is by John Bishop Edwards and you can buy it online (includes a TAB).
A reissue sg?
No, it’s a 1968.
Wow 😮
Thanks!
What a beautiful digitation class and infinity clarity. ♟️
Thank you kindly!
love your vid man, btw .Are you transcribe all this? Its very nice.
Thank you! The arrangement is by John Bishop Edwards.
So wonderful!
Many thanks!
This needs more views than a cover of a Black Sabbath tune by a girl in a short dress …but we live in a strange world!!! ❤
Hahaha, thanks! Maybe I’ll make another video of this, but wearing a bikini instead, lol. Seriously though, I really appreciate your comment. Cheers,
awesome explanation and great tones ! thanks
Glad you liked, and thanks!
waw, that was hard, really impressive
Thank you!
Incredibly beautiful!
Thank you so much Mark! Cheers
It sounds beautiful.
Thank you very much!
I very loved it.!! . and Debussy surely would love to ear its composition being played with such a care and sentiment. (And yout instrument was perfect in your hands.),,
Oww, that’s very kind of you! Thank you and hope you have a good day.
excellent work. I also love these vibrolas. I'm going to try this.
Have fun! And thanks.
Awesome idea. I have 2 of these pedals one front end and one FX loop…. Saves 10 spots…
Totally agree and was thinking about getting another, but I’m not really a n FX guy, so this is more than enough for me. Cheers!
Verdaderamente maravilloso.
Muchas gracias estimado Ian!
Thanks for posting this, I am surprised there isn't more discussion about this.. I have a few guitars with wolf notes and it really irritates me. What is the device you put in your sound hole ??
Hi, you're welcome! The device is called Tornavoz. Basically, it is a cylinder, but the way Antonio de Torres build it back in the day was slightly more like a cone shaped geometry, made out of brass. The one I made is a 3D printed with an added fretboard extension. The idea is to lower the air resonance of the top, which helps with the basses, but the longest the sleeve is, the more you can reduce the volume as well, besides the frequency, so it is a delicate balance. Hope this helps?
@@doctor7music91 Yes, Thank you !
This helps me as well, I am on the threshold of sending one back
Wow. Just Wow. Thankyou for this precious moment, sir.
You’re welcome anytime Eric. Glad you liked it!
You play on a fretless guitar. This demonstrates your professionalism. I aspire to master the bass guitar (electric and acoustic) as my first instrument and possibly become as proficient as you were in this video. Thanks for this upload!
Thanks a lot, but the guitar is not fretless, so am not sure what you meant. I have played fretless basses but never a fretless guitar. Cheers,
@doctor7music91 My bad my good sir, it's evident that I am still a noob in this regard, I thought that frets were just the little white dots we see in most guitar-based instruments, but it turns out they are those wooden lines across the neck of the intrument. Cheers!
@@AmethystNoir-Official no worries at all and welcome to this beautiful world of music!
Que sonido tan cálido alcanzaste 😁 Gracias y espero que sigas subiendo más videos
El placer es mío y seguiré subiendo más sin duda.
Wonderful rendition! Bravo Francisco!!! Is this a cedar top guitar? For my tast the Yamaha Grand Concert GC-15 sounds better.
Thanks Stefan, it’s a Spruce top, despite the colour. The GC-15 certainly has more sustain, but the trebles on the GC-6D are louder (more dynamic range) and thicker sounding. I have to pick one and sell the other, so it’s a tough choice, but right now, I’m heading to keeping the GC-6D.
Very good
Thanks! Cheers,
what a beautiful piece played amazingly! Well done!
Thank you Michael, much appreciated!
Thanks so much for replying, i finally got it working just like the video. This is just what i was trying to do. It works great, instantaneously, appreciate the reply and video. Thanks
Great to hear, and you are very welcome!
The sound of this guitar is really great! Very colorful!! What strings do you have on this guitar? Beautiul rendition of this enchanting piece! Bravo Francisco!!!
Thank you Stefan! Strings are D’Addario high tension. Have a great week my friend!
This piece was more than acceptable
Thank you very much!
Thatvis high level playing
Thanks so much!
So sweet... thank you! Where can I find this arrangement?
Search for John Bishop Edwards Claire de Lune score. It includes a TAB as well, although it has a few minor mistakes.
@@doctor7music91 thanks! I found it.
Marcio Stefanuto posted also his arrangement, for free in his video.
@@kof3017I will check it out as well! I have used Marcio’s arrangement for Chopin’s Fantaisie Impromptu as a starting point for my own arrangement. He is good!
@@doctor7music91 Ah, so you know him! He's brazilian like myself, and his channel is not very well known. He plays even Moonlight Sonata mov. 3!😯
Hello, thanks for the video, I’m just a beginner, i do have s gear and a a/b y box and can you tell me how you got two instances of s gear running at the same time . I cannot figure out how to do it. Lol, also my second question is i have a pod go floor board box , and i have the cable that looks like a. Printer cable on one end (plugged in to the pod go and the other which has a usb connection going into my Mac. I’ve tried putting both to the same MIDI change but it still won’t communicate to switch the presets in s gear. I don’t understand why. Thanks.
Hi, to open a new instance of S-Gear, once you have opened your first, you go back to the S-Gear icon (the one you probably used to start the first session) and double click on it again. You will probably notice a volume increase, but no worries as it is normal. Then I set each instance to a different preset. With regards to the Pod Go, the Line6 footswitch I have has the same cable, but I have never used the Pod Go so can't help on that, but I presume you should be able to select it as a MIDI device controller?
