From emergency search & rescue missions, to broken pipes, to big fish, to hunting adventures, to collapsed cabins, to funny guests, on this channel you'll a host of stories and interesting content related to running a mountain lodge, another content related to be outdoors.

You talked for 5 minutes
@@ziptie_the_throttle yeah. It’s a video tutorial of how to get unstuck. Explaining implies talking….
Amazing the things people post online
Beautiful tribute! RIP Mr. Glenn💜
Sledding for 40 years. Now I’ve heard it all now. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@fasterdura1772 ?
@@SummitSecretsdon’t act like a hero that you have found the only possible way to get unstuck. Hold pinned and wiggle and wiggle till you’ve got missing lugs and next a dam blown 571 belt. Come on dude. Get off the web teaching the younger generation how to piss up your sled. We had one of these 22 turbo 154. Also a 23. They do NOT last when this dude is praising these sleds of such abuse. Get a grib
@@fasterdura1772 do you ride in the mountains? Wherever you ride I would invite you to come out and ride with me. I ride in the Colorado Mountains. Based out of the Grand Mesa Lodge. On average we get between 30 and 40 feet of snow fall per year at +10k feet.
@@SummitSecrets I hear your your response. Yes we do ride but if your pockets are empty at the end of day how can these new beginner sledders keep riding? I’m just saying. And if your inviting us Canadians this could be a life experience here 🚀
@@fasterdura1772 what part of Canada are you from brother?
Tell me you’re getting paid without telling me you’re getting paid… “ way better then skidoo, way better then Polaris” lol… shut up dude. Arctic cat is a dying breed and the engine sounds like a dying horse when you hit it. There is a reason a lot of the big TH-camrs and nationwide testers didn’t get one to test… they don’t want bad PR out and want a bunch ordered to find out the only thing good is the gauge.
Where did the video say, It was better than skidoo or better than Polaris?
@@SummitSecrets way better then skidoo 6:09////way better then Polaris 6:22////.. ?? Pretty easy to find.. lol.. what a dumb comment by you. Did you not watch your own video. I’m not watching the rest I’m sure there is more but the video sucks. Shitty music and no sound of the fucking sled your testing.. just continue to run your lodge.. keep the snowmobiling to people that know what their doing and saying pal 👍🏻✌️.
I can only speak from my personal experience but i have had a 2022 Ski doo 850 and a 2020 Polaris 850 i currently own a 2016 Arctic Cat and it's been the absolute BEST and most reliable sled I have ever had. Next year I plan on snow checking another Arctic Cat. If you look back over the years Arctic Cat has innovated more than the other 2 companies combined I'm not saying everything works great but Polaris and Ski Doo have taken quit a few liberties from Arctic Cat design.
@@johnelliott3896 lol.. okay bro. Then you got unlucky and got some shitty sleds. 2016 Arctic cat is the biggest dog of all. I’d rather have a warranty issue with a new skidoo or Polaris then have an Arctic cat dog water 800 sled.
@@johnelliott3896 I say your claim of most reliable sled and BEST is laughable. Ski-doo is 10 times more reliable than that old arctic cat sled.
Omg you saved that nurse's life 😀 Regards from Canada.
Would rather hear the sled than music
Love the lesson-videos! Subbed. Maybe skip the music, better to hear the throttle input from the riders.
That exhaust note reminds me so much of classic cats of many years ago. Sweet without being loud.
one man one sled all you need.

Great to see you two enjoying the snow. I wish my dad was young enough to ride with me. I've had my parents come out west with us, but between the elevation and being a relatively physical sport it's too much.
You knew they were plowing up there so why move it on the other side 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️😑😑😑
Great videos! How are conditions looking heading to this weekend? Planning to make the trip out from Michigan on Thursday to ride Friday-Sunday this weekend.
I see dirt. Snow s not very good this year on the mesa at 10000’
Good thing you did this at night
Your video saved the night. We were leaving Electric Mtn Lodge from dinner and my mother in law got stuck. Group of 12 with some small kiddos. It could have sucked for everyone to wait 20-30 minutes to dig or pull or use a jack. I had watched this video that morning so I laid her machine on its side, pinned it a couple times and rode it out. Thanks for the tip 🫡
My high lift snowmobile jack is deployed in mere seconds and would have that sled out in 2 minutes.
Summit Stories??? You forgot the part of explaining the basics of snowmobile hill climbing.
I live where I can see the Grand Mesa and most days I can see it's snowing up there. So definitely believe those numbers. No question.
We all know that it is your sled
😂 went from day to night super quick. 5min or less?
😂 that was funniest part.
I also rarely use a shovel. However, digging my buddies sled out of the creek wouldn't have been very easy without a shovel. 2 of us dug for 3 minutes, and then I gave him a ski pull and he was out. Wouldn't have happened without a shovel to get the skis uncovered and out of the crust.
Thanks for the feedback! I've rode about 2-3K miles of backcountry per year for the last 10 years. With the techniques I employ I haven't needed a shovel.
Can anyone say…burnt clutch….
You lost a lot of credibility with the shovel comment.
love to see this work in the PNW snow. Some work ok all depends on the Snow Conditions ..
PNW?
@@SummitSecrets pacific northwet . I use all these techniques and they can work but in some conditions you need a shovel. At least here in the Cascade concrete.
We get a lot of dry snow that is like sugar here in Alaska. I have a remote cabin and used to ride in the mountains myself in the middle of the week when no one was around. Sometimes I would dig the side of the machine out to put it on its sides and fill in the hole to get out. Also I’d dig out the front and build a ramp.
What if I have a heavy Yamaha 4 stroke tank? 😂
Lol. Then you are hosed. 100% hosed.
Then you need a shovel.
talk so much it got dark
scroll on. :)
Hahahah
I wasn’t going to fast noooooooooo🤣
GM riding is awesome! VIP suite looks very nice.👏👏👏
Thanks for the tips. Stay safe out there.
Some of those towers are federal Aviation facilities. I used to maintain them before retirement. Isn't here still a federal no trespassing sign there still?
☢
easier than that get polaris 😄
Polaris Sleds don't get stuck?
@@SummitSecrets from my experience, riding a polaris is like cheating compared to other brands. and even more with the boost. i call the bombardier sled, snow submarine 😆
Polaris makes a phenomenal sled. They made a crappy engine, but a very good sled. Ski doo makes an killer engine and an OK sled. This year I have spend 90% of my time on my turbo summitX, but i definitely like my 22 Matrix slash.
@@SummitSecrets polaris are tricky, if you are strong on maintenance and knows what to do and when to do it, it serves you well. way much thing to care of compared to a bombardier i give you that
You lost me at the "leave the shovel home" bubble. I understand what you were trying to say but those that dont understand will travel without a shovel and that is one if those tools you will be glad you have when you need it besides the safety aspect for avalanches. Three things you never leave the trailhead without, beacon, probe and shovel
I said you don't need a shovel to get unstuck. Which you don't. If you know what you are doing there are quicker ways--which is the premise of this video. I also said you need a shovel if you are in an avalanche situation. I know that on the screen there was a caption that said "leave the shovel at home." That was done by my editor. lol. You are right--that would be bad advice. You definitely should NOT leave your shovel at home. You just don't need it for getting unstuck. Also if you look at my pack, you will notice I have a shovel. I always ride with a shovel. I just don't use it for getting unstuck. Cheers my friend and thanks for pointing that out.
You have to plan for the lowest common denominator when sharing info with the public. The video is yours not your editors. That mistake can have dire consequences. You lose credibility with mistakes like that
@@EL-ru8nl LMAO. ha ha. OK. I don't know how… But somehow I will search deep inside me to find the courage and the tenacity to move forward, to move on in life, in spite of this terrible, terrible, unpardonable sin that I have committed. This inexcusable err with "DIRE" consequences. And I admit here and to the world that I am sooooo sorry for this egregious mistake. How could have I let this happen?!?! How could it have come to this? Putting the wrong caption on a TH-cam Video! I am so sorry! to you and to the world. DIRE CONSEQUENCES INDEED!!!!
LMAO is right!
@@EL-ru8nlhope its ok--I took a screen shot of our conversation and shared this on my facebook page. I have a few hundred thousand followers...And I think they are going to get a kick out of that exchange. :) Hopefully that doesn't have DIRE consequences too... But you know. I like to live on edge.
iT was his sled all along
Your total thief.
gotta do what your gotta do! inflation and all...
I know you not taking that you have a brand new G5
This is great info. It would be awesome if you remade it during the day with good light
I know right?! ….actually I have already shot another video. (In better light). We are going to do four videos, one for each technique. I’ve got the first video done, and I’m editing it right now.
@@SummitSecrets awesome. Looking forward to it!
The slush at Island is unreal. Hard to walk in let alone use a machine.
I had worked up and had to maintain the Facilities for the FAA north of lands' end. At that time, we had to snow cat in from the cross-country ski area were there used to be a snow cat shed. I have been in complete white outs when it was a sunny day. Now my Family and I have fun all over the mountain. I can't tell you how many times we helped people out. The ones that Drink and sled are, well I don't need to say more. Did the trails get groomed from the parking area east of the lodge?
Correction: in the video I said you have a cost of the cabin minus fuel, obviously I meant cost of the cabin plus fuel.
