I don’t know where you get the strength from to fight back this long for a community that insults and put you down every step of the way to this day. Thank God for people like you. At the same time, I am sorry you had to deal with such stupidity throughout the years. I would’ve thought by now our community have learned from the past and do better; stand up for what is right. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Individuals who can’t even run a community or a simple program, foolishly think they can a country. How delusional, how unrealistic. If the Harari society really think about it, this is a very crucial interview in the history of the Harari’s in diaspora in my opinion, specifically in North America. I remember you Mr. Mahbub. When I was very young, you use to speak to us so passionate about the Harari history and our identity. I used to feel I belong to a great community, and I am very important. I loved listing to you then and now. I am so grateful to you. Unfortunately, throughout the years, the Harari people lost their touch, they lost their grit, their nobility and now they are the epidemy of petty fights and ignorance. That is why when some people suggest I should be part of the community and to bring my children to the community center, I say what for? b/c I don’t feel there is anything beneficial. If anything, I don’t want my children near such environment. How sad. I just talked to my dad about this interview, and he confirms the story. He told me that he was wrong. His group used to fight so hard to stop you. He said “Whatever project he picked; we were determined to stop it” I asked him why? “He said. I don’t know.” He says he was on the wrong side of history, and he regrets he was with a group of friends who used to smear your name. What a shame. How crazy is this? I am glad to see you Mr. Mahbub, and you are doing well. Take care.

In the last several decades we have seen the appearance and the total demise of many Harari organizations . The reason when analyzed in retrospect , all comes down to the chronic infighting and the inability to reconcile differences that results in creating a big void on the socio-economic stand of the society. Hararis have paid and are still paying enormous prices to such repugnant and sicking conducts that are observed from the highest levels such as Harari Regional State to the lower ranks such as groups and Jamaas and everything in between.The best example to such objectionable sub-culture is the recent drama seen by a group of troublemakers to dismantle the HSCF that was established through democratic processes -this tine with no success . The bittersweet elements of SHAHAN can be placed within the confines of such evil-intentioned behavior that are firmly entrenched in our society. Is this a curse placed on us ??????Is there any practical measure that one can take individually or collectively to remedy this malady that is inflicted on us for once and for all ?????????????

The Western nuclear family model undermines the traditional Harari community structure of raising many children. In contrast, Latino and African American communities resist this shift, resulting in population growth. We should consider adopting their trends.

How this people expect to govern themselves when they don’t even have a sewage system in their city? How you expect a 5 square kilometer city to make it country its own ??? Hararian have a great pride in their culture, but none of the culture is their own. Some of their culture were taken from Arab and other imported from Turkey or Kurdistan and India.

This is a noble act of heritage preservation by concerned native group who set their mission and not only implemented the required elements on the ground, but also elevated awareness and trained the locals as necessary to ensure the work is done. Now it is up to the authorities in charge to follow up with collecting the manuscript and maximizing the effort to ensure the work is done. My gratitude goes out to all the dreamers and their supporters to make this happen. We learn from this how a small group of individuals can make big difference. I also appreciate Abdullahi’s concern and how foreigners make a use of our materials as their own. This reminds me of the story of Enjera patent by Holland, while the Ethiopian Elephant in sleep, the Dutch got the Patent for Enjera ownership, suddenly awakening for the PM of Ethiopia to reclaim. Nice. Comment on the position of that museum who borrowed the Harari manuscript, is it standard practice to consult with people from the country of origin of a manuscript before giving a talk? While I understand we made the manuscript many years ago and it was in our possession, if it is owned by someone else now, does anyone owe us anything? Nice to see work in this area, just wanted to bring this point to prevent unrealistic expectations.

I am glad of this documentary that demography affected by politics War ,politics bring refuge and thousand suppression depriving well being economically culturally and politically. Most causes are well depicted in the documentary The tone itself matches complies the themes. One more than reason is internally sociological which is marriage particularly second marriage mostly discussed as in Aner and other media.The issue of second marriage should be discussed needs to addressed. Why not certain incentives for newly married couples should be designed. The fear from the male side to marriage and more even fear of second marriage must be addressed . To me to handle the issue providing main causes is appreciable. But the documentary ought to discuss the send marriage is additional social issues. Amir has done it interestingly!!
