    Hi David, thanks for the video! I followed all the steps, and everything worked just as you demonstrated. However, I noticed that Power Apps seems to be adding a subtle fade effect to the colors, and it appears this happened to you as well. Specifically, when you changed the BasePaletteColor at the 7:41 mark, the color displayed on the modern button doesn’t match the primary color set in the custom theme. You can see this clearly if you set the primary color to #00ACD8; the classic buttons display it correctly, but the modern buttons don’t.

    Hardly anyone in my company accesses SharePoint pages on their phones; the majority prefer using their laptops, which typically have a 1920 resolution screen. Wouldn't it be more user-friendly to offer this as a configurable setting and let users choose their preferred design? After all, our developers are not inexperienced. On smaller resolutions, the columns wrap automatically....

    Hi David - do we have the ability to change the margin size on these modern pages, I’d prefer to have my web parts all the way to the left, so I’m using all the available space, but it puts everything in the middle and there’s a lot of wasted space? Or would I just create my own page in design manager to do this? Thank you Sally

    You can connect DIRECTLY to a SharePoint via WebDav. Connect to SharePoint in Internet Explorer Open the Site Assets document Library Open the Library in Explorer In VS Code, open folder and connect to the Site via the url. Once Explore is logged into a Site, VS Code can connect no problem with NO extensions

  • @ClintPenrod
    @ClintPenrod 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The real problem is that a lot of the content needs a scroll bar sideways due to the white space. Everyone in our business have all the same monitor so it would be easy to adjust the whitespace region to match our companies statistics of monitor size. Also SharePoint has an app to view in a mobile view so I would exclude all of those when looking at statistics.

    Quick and easy to create something that has almost no business value. Creating complex business solutions requires every pixel on the screen. Your comparison websites are all public, marketing driven content. That’s not what we are creating SharePoint.

    • @Warner-Digital
      @Warner-Digital 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment. While using every pixel on the screen within a solution is very much subjective, using custom development fully allows for that to be achieved. Additionally, while some of the examples are marketing-driven, which is the desired design option for many "Marketing and Communication" departments, ESPN, the primary example is more about providing content, so I tried to show multiple examples. Thanks again for watching.

      M365.video thanks for the reply. From what I’ve learned you can create a spfx webpart for a communication site that is full width but on a modern team site your custom part is locked into the SP canvas container that is locked down at 1244 some odd pixels. If I’m wrong on that please point me into the right direction of a supported way to override that.

    • @Warner-Digital
      @Warner-Digital 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevemchargue That is correct currently. Team sites do not support the full-width SPFx web part option as far as I know at present. Although I did check and there is a UV request for this. If this is something you feel is needed, I would definitely recommend adding your votes to the UV request. :) Here is the URL: sharepoint.uservoice.com/forums/329214-sites-and-collaboration/suggestions/32199772-full-width-column-webpart-available-to-team-site-t

  • @ericchristoph8295
    @ericchristoph8295 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This makes the assumption that you don't actually need the width. What happens when you do? I have a customer app that absolutely requires 16 visible columns of data, and I need every pixel. While it's true that maybe 95% of the time you can get by with a narrow width, it would be nice to at least link to a video showing how to adjust the content width when you really, really need to.

    • @Warner-Digital
      @Warner-Digital 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment. I understand and agree there are less common situations that might require the use of full width and hope we are provided greater control as mentioned in the video. We are though given supported options today in full width SPFx web parts that can be placed into the full width sections available in communication sites.

    • @stevemchargue
      @stevemchargue 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      M365.video but not modern team sites where they would arguably be needed more often. It’s just so arbitrary and pointless that it’s maddening. Full width web applications are anything but uncommon.

      Very fair point. Hopefully, that is something that comes eventually. • @leanderstuder6815

    What is criticized regarding whitespace is not the whitespace left and right (which is obviously needed) but the one between the webparts. It is not possible to have Text - Picture - Text - Picture on top of each other without scrolling. How should I write instructions for my users like this? And as the word picture now has been dropped, the picture-webpart is complete BS, you cant align nor rezeise images!!!! This is a shame! Modern Pages as they are now are not at all useable and Microsoft does nothing against it. As all Powerusers only have Uservoices for Flow, Powerapps etc and spend their time and votes there no-one is able to get a uservoice in regard to modern pages through to MS.
