I have a problem getting the bomb jumps right at 3:32. I don’t have cross bombs and I’m not the best at doing it… any tips?
Smell ya later
It's easier to get the grapple beam first then the bombs. If you get the grapple beam first you can go a different route in the Emmi zone to the bombs. No difficult wall jump required.
So theoretically this is possible without cross bombs long as you can bomb jump well enough, yeah? Reason I'm asking is because I'm in the middle of a Dread Mode run, just got gravity suit and am debating using this trick to skip Experiment
If you go this route you will still have to defeat the boss. You'll just get screw attack before the fight. You'll have to use one of the other sequence breaks to skip the zone freeze that happens while getting screw attack to skip the boss.
That door is not always opened..depending on what upgrades you have already it will be opened or closed
Nice video
I can't get that stupid wall jump after you bomb. Fucking lame
pretty genius move breaking those blocks in the room at 1:25. the game is so poorly designed that 90% of people would never even notice them.
Are you serious? Nothing about this game is poorly designed, coming from the intended direction it would be obvious to bomb those blocks to get through. The only gripe I can muster about this game is the way it holds your hand in finding "hidden items". Back in the day if you wanted 100% items on Super Metroid you had to work for that shit.
@@toddmiller5322 dude, look up "david jaffe metroid dread" and have a laugh.
@@ClashBluelight ok I get it now lol. He acts so incredulous about it, that's pretty fucking hilarious.
@@ClashBluelight the comments are even better LMAO
@@toddmiller5322 glad i could spread awareness of nintendo's horrendous game design.
Can we just obtain the screw attack then leave back to Burenia and continue the game or no?
The elevator locks down, same for blue transport. Only way to advance is to kill Z-57.
@@glenngunnerzero Oooo great to know! Thank you!
@@christophercruz8954 Yeah it's nice to know that saddly, even tought this is cool trick, this won’t save time for a speedrun... but just to be sure I will check somethings and then come back
The only issue with this one is it doesn't actually skip Ataria. You have to defeat The Experiment no matter what since their is no transport that can be activated without melting the ice. So in one sense this looks intentional but it also doesn't even save time. It's just an alternative neat little route.
Bruh just water bomb jump
Wait that one-way door into the network room doesn't close during this part?! It never stays open for me and prevented me from doing this sequence-break!!
Bro, that morph duct that allows you to get into the EMMI zone from above, I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT WAS THERE! That’s so coooolll oh god IM IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME
spend minutes trying to get the speed bost...only to get it with a bomb jump at first try
You can also get into that corner with bomb jumps. Cross bombs work best on the incline so try and get them to push through
This is surreal to see after the 3 different methods that have come out.
YeeeaAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Dropped a brick when I heard about camera lock and basically gave up trying to keep up but ooooff it feels like everyday there's a new thing. Metroid is back.
I got to THE room at 1:25, but the access is closed, any idea as of why?
I'm not quite sure but I think this is something you have to do earlier on in the game
Joder este juego tiene cualquier forma de derrotar a los jefes
Quick tip, you don't have to shinespark at 1:20 you can literally just bomb jump your way in!
Lolz awesome video
Those paths are so convenient that you can tell it was intended. Cuz there's no real use for that than doing this sequence break (you know, there's literally doors below it if were not frozen)
4 playthroughs and I never knew you didn't need to enter that little lava pool before kraid
hold on did i miss a bomb upgrade
Nah cross bombs since you realistically them once are forgettable as literally you have to use them in a single room to get out after defeating a boss hell not everyone even knows about the spin boost which is just a double jump however it is useless as you either get the space jump shortly after or you find space jump before it which is entirely possible for a casual player as spin boost is pretty hidden and with space jump you get infinite jumps. Like spin boost feels like it should have been in your starting abilities also fun fact spin boost was not always a double jump it was a short boost of movement for the morph ball in the Prime games such as Metroid Prime 3
There’s a bomb jump glitch unless they fixed it. Bombself. Demorph mod air. Without touching the ground as a ball, jump and morph, bomb jump, umorph.
still works
I have gotten an early power bomb but it shows up as an unknown item
there are plenty you can get before actually unlocking power bombs, I think I had 3 or 4 of those before orange EMMI
In hindsight it may not have necessary to get screw attack before beating experiment 57. Not having cross bombs early made it harder. On the bright side I learned and mastered infinite bomb jumps.
You don't need to jump again. I've been playing around with this and it seems to be a location thing rather than any specific inputs. You can do it without jumping a second time and it'll just put you on top of it. I've been able to do it a couple of times, none of them requiring any extra jumping
That explains why it was so inconsistant for me, I eventually just got used to the other method but it's so weird it must be right at the break point or something.
I mean you really don't need the speed booster to get up there.. I just used a bunch of bombs to get myself up there. & honestly this doesn't even feel like a sequence breaker because I feel like they want you to have the Screw Attack when you're facing the Experiment No Z-57 Boss to use Screw Attack to cut off his limbs instead of using storm missle.. I don't think this was sequence breaker.. I think it was something you just had to figure out
Finally got this to work, however the screw jump only last for two jumps, is this expected? Did doing this early break the ability to keep jumping infinitely?
Screw Attack never affected your jumping besides the added Attack Value of it (with the exception of Prime series.) If you're only able to do 2 jumps it's because you only have Spin Boost you'll still need to find/get Space Jump.
@@glenngunnerzero thanks, yeah I realized this afterwards that I needed the space jump. Sure made the game easier having screw jump early though, especially on hard mode
I use the infinite bomb jumps to make it to that morph ball hole, Works every time. I bet this is faster than that
This has to be intended. Some of those morph ball pathways, especially the last one into that room, are completely unused in a normal playthrough. The fact that stuff like this and the Kraid early kill are in the game makes me so happy
It was like seeing that one morph ball tunnel when going for the early grapple beam. On my first playthrough, that tunnel confused the hell out of me because it seemed so... worthless? It was entirely unnecessary to enter or leave the room. But when in the context of sequence breaking, it blew my mind. It was put there because the developers knew it was the only way to make the skip possible.
It’s cool how in their first update they fixed a soft lock. Where if you skip the the first emmi and come back you’ll be stuck in the room cause it all didn’t load right. To where you can sequence break and come back properly now
3:27 little tip using cross bombs there is a really easy way to infinite bomb jump simply place the cross bomb on the ground and by the final explosion on the area where the final explosion was place another cross bomb and it should be timed in such a way to where you can continue gaining height indefinitely.
Pretty sure you can just spam cross bombs and it'll work actually
I see some others have mentioned, but you can bomb up to the wrong side, then you can bomb to the other side with a cross bomb if you hop over the water before it starts going off. but after that it seems like you cant get a jump or anything in until your back in water. otherwise yeah if there's a way to shinespark it's going to be the tightest set of button presses yet in the game. I haven't gotten a clean one in front of the door like you did here, but I was thinking maybe flash shift over the bomb blocks, morphing and set a cross bomb before you even hit the water, unmorph so you dont get pulled upwards, remorphing through the hole and idk maybe you can a diagonal shinespark in morph ball form just before it's out. but I haven't been able to pull off anything close to that
Is the skip wanted from the game? (Like the sequence break where yoz can go to Kraid earlier) ?
Ultimately so far no it actually seems to increase time but it's not without it's uses which if you're not particular great at all the parrying and avoiding damage it can give you some safety (especially in hard mode) in getting to Z-57 as well as allow you to OKO the arms in the healing phase.
It also makes Escue go from one of the hardest bosses in the game, to quite possibly the easiest one, as Screw Attack can 5-6 shot it. What's crazy is I think the game hints at it subtly too, as the Screw Attack is "effective against enemies cloaked in electricity". It was INSANELY satisfying to destroy Escue with Screw Attack, as he was usually the boss that would kill me the most each playthrough (even more than Raven Beak). That 4 frame dash attack and seeker missiles can go to hell LOL
@@tgr3423 you can actually charge a shinespark using the room before escue and then when he appears just shoot right into him with the shinespark and it takes like 75% of his health away, If your really good you can beat him in under a minute.
@@thomasw9286 I love that method. I think I just forgot to mention it, since you can only kill Escue in 5 screw attack hits after shine sparking it. With shinespark and screw attack it goes from under a minute to under ten seconds.
people just experimenting with the game, trying to see to which extent they can bend it
It's incredible to come here after two weeks, after having done this very area myself numerous times and using the knowledge gained in this time to actually fully sequence break and get the Screw Attack early.
I love seeing these videos
Im still trying to do this maybe if you can manage to save a shinespark while still being able to destroy those bomb blocks to shinespark up there you can do it.... But idk if that's even possible.... I've tried bombing up there to no avail... hopefully there are some other techniques that get discovered to do this Edit: I just did it, to do it requires to a basic glitch requirement... Basically in the water place a morph ball bomb down and as soon as you get sent up unmorph.. After that do not unmorph on the ground or it will cancel the glitch.. Then jump regularly morph and place a bomb where your momentum let you and unmorph again before you hit the ground and quickly jump to morph again to get sent up by your bomb then unmorph to grab the ledge.... Hooo boy quite the mouthful huh? Here's a video explaining it and doing it step by step th-cam.com/video/VKCLmGKaDdA/w-d-xo.html
I did manage to do it but it had little to no effect on getting to where you actually need to go which is on the right side. Tried getting over there with space jump but because you skim the water you lose the height you would need to get up. At this point I think the only real way to get in would be to somehow psudowave the explosion piece in the northeast corner but that requires going through 2 different walls and you're still dealing with water in that section. This may be hard locked until wave beam or powerbomb can be obtained early somehow.
@@glenngunnerzero yeah i did it on the left side just to know there's no point in going to the left side RIP Maybe if you do it with cross bombs on the right Then it'll be possible.... But before that im trying to do a pseudo wave on that blob near that plasma beam door for the other entrance to screw attack to see if i can try to hit it hopefully as you said
You don’t have to ball up. You can just shine spark regularly and when you hit the corner will automatically turn into a ball and go straight through it
It’s possible to get up on the left ledge consistently. Bomb jumping underwater has a weird trick to it. Bomb once on the ground and land then jump into a bong you place in the air, you get extra height. But even if you do I haven’t been able to get to Burenia yet. And screw attack is just barely out of reach on the right side. I’m trying to get there with space jump.
Would Cross Bomb have any effect on the second jump?
I tried jumping into a cross bomb. It doesn’t bring you any higher. It is actually lower than a regular bomb. Here’s the link to where I learned how to do the underwater bomb th-cam.com/video/DgMgljJ0SbA/w-d-xo.html I’m trying to do a space jump flash shift thing but no success yet!
Does getting Screw Attack early let you skip anything like fighting X-57 in Cataris or do you have to fight him anyway?
The main reason to get it early is so you can kill the Storm Missile boss waaaaaay easier.
@@downgrade101 Unless you are already sequence breaking you have storm missiles before you can freeze Artaria.
@@MrScigeek101 well sequence breaking usually leads to more sequence breaking. It's a violent cycle that one is.
It seems largely just to do it at this point. Until there's a different way of getting it about the best reason to get it is for safety before X-57 in hard mode and to 1 hit destroy the hands in it's healing phase.
@@MrScigeek101 early gravity suit is really easy and blows this game wide open for other sequence breaks like this and getting storm missles after you kill x-57
8:45 I forgot to speed up the elevator loading. 10:37 for third elevator skip. 11:45 for the forth elevator skip. I really must have not payed any attention to those sections making the video.
I did the same thing without knowing I was sequence breaking. After I got the screw attack and started flying through a bit of platforming areas. I figured I got it earlier than intended. I got up there by spamming space jump in that corner and morph ball'd at the right time. Then bombed.
After this do you still need to fight Experiment? Or can skip and go directly to the next area?
I'm not entirely 100% on this as I'm not sure how much the thermal energy blocks in other sections looking on how the other sections work it may be completely unnecessary if you're going for finish rather than completion as the Adam just goes into his text cutscene after you reach the next Data room.
@@glenngunnerzero So it might be a huge time saver for Any% speedrunners.
@@wearywanderer1912 it's turns out it's impossible, once you get to Artaria the elevator behind you freezes and you can't even interact with it, so you're forced to deal with X-57 either way.
@@glenngunnerzero but can you use the blue transport to go to Cataris that way instead of using the elevator?
@@recentlydeleted Unfortunately, no, you can't use that either as I think it freezes.
1:35 I like to imagine Adam/Dad just sees Samus walk by and is just like "Oh hey Samus... *"WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE HOW DID YOU GET HERE!?!"*

@@NoRegs30 „And he is handsome, smart and powerful. Did I saw powerful? He is the most powerful. You have no chance against m… him Samus. Be aware of your weaknesses“
Metroid memes are BACK and I am soooo excited!!!!
Is there any reason why one wouldn't be able to do this before Gravity Suit?
It's deep in a cold chamber normally while you could probably get it you wouldn't be able to make it out alive.
passage at 3:55 is blocked by an explosive mass that could only be destroyed from the left side.
After some observation, you need Morph Ball, Bombs, Grappling Beam, Plasma, and possibly spin jump. After that you would need to be able to bomb underwater which is possible but hard and I think you can only jump yourself once after which maybe you can spin jump into the narrow morph ball corridor. The Cold Area is actually shorter than I thought but shine sparking doesn't seem possible with the grappling beam door holding up your time on the rightside of the underwater section going left (probably a hard intention block by the devs.) near the leftmost elevator. So it may be actually possible but I don't know I'll be able to do it. I'm going to see what I can do on a new run though today.
The best I’ve done to getting close is going through the bottom cold area after getting grapple beam. You’ll need a few energy tanks to survive but when you get to the under water section of the screw attack room, you’ll be out of the cold area (that room is only cold after grabbing gravity suit). Afterwards, you’re blocked because you need gravity suit to get enough height in the water. If there’s another way to get extra height in water then to my knowledge, screw attack is all yours.
@@mrstark478 great observation, thanks! This honeymoon phase of sequence break games is always so hype and crazy!
Help X) Got gravity suit earlier... But now i'm stuck in iceland A door got closed behind me, with no way to exit
Typically you have to move down and right then up and right. Check your map for how to move forward as frozen doors will be marked. If you get to the part past Adam you can shinespark (like I did) or bomb jump up.
you can reach the boss and stop the cold. You dont need the space jump for that.
I'm stuck too I don't have the cross bombs and am stuck at the last bit before screw attack lol
@@MiharusArtwork If you spin jump up as high as you can and press ZL to instant morph ball and then lay a bomb you should still be able to do it.
@@glenngunnerzero so do i need space jump to go any farther. I can bomb the blocks but can't seem to go pass that
Thank you for the tip. Then where should I go next?
Doubleback to the beginning using the path below via Screw Attack and head to Artaria.
You can also skip the shinespark thing and just bomb jumping there
Yeah Cross Bomb is pretty good for getting height really fast. But this was just a one and done while I try and figure out what to do and how to do it. Normally all this would finessed out but I had fun kinda figuring it out on the fly and Speeding up the video while I cross check where I'm suppose to go and fumble around. In reality getting the Screw Attack early isn't faster or really better than just getting it from the Blue Teleporter a little bit after defeating Z-57. If you want that safety going in it's a nice perk though.
@@glenngunnerzero if you want you can also practice in the square section of that platform and just morph spark in a diagonal direction. I cant wait to try it myself.
@@glenngunnerzero I did it with regular bomb jumping. Haven't got the cross bomb yet. Pretty cool that they let u get the screw attack. They could have frozen the other doors towards it.
@@glenngunnerzero maybe not, but if you sequence break for the screw attack before the gravity suit, you can skip that boss entirely. Fuck Frozen Artaria.
Unfortunately, going thru FreezeTaria is required for 100% 🤬
