The orchestra's not so great, but Markov's playing is superb. The Wieniawski First concerto is extremely difficult. Markov won the second prize and a gold medal. First prize went to Jaime Laredo.

The third movement sounds like it may have been very slightly sped up. My first impression is that it was very fast, but certainly possible for Hilary Hahn. However the vibrato oscillation also sounds too fast for Hahn's normal "fast" vibrato speed. Again, very slightly, but that is what I suspect.

She sounds so aggressive in this recording. I feel like the third movement even sounds a bit forced, especially since there are some spots where she's just pressing too hard with the bow. The tempi are impressive though!
