I had the same thing happen and replaced it with a cheap one that also died a week later. I got a used OEM one and it has been good since. I also got another cheap new one to keep in the glove box for emergency, but I can also just cut it off when its stopped to get it home if I know the fan isn't running.

Lmfao blame the engine manufacturer. Claims its "bad boys" fault except news flash....THEY DONT MAKE THE ENGINE.

A prefilter that dirty could be causing it to run rich when running at full throttle (like under load with a governor). Might not affect idle. The fouled spark plugs aren't helping matters, but that was probably caused by running rich. I guess we'll see what the shop says.

where is the alternator? I keep getting stator results...nothing on the alternator!

Easy way to check is to turn on the ac. It should automatically come on at idle. If it doesn't replace the fan and module. Pretty easy job. I remove the coolant tank but it can be done just moving it out the way. Another bit of advice is to get the fan for the police interceptor. It will draw more air through.

My mid section failed on the flange where it bolts onto the backbox. It sounded really good but was illegal.

Congratulations on your purchase. The only thing about it that is "Dewalt" is the name painted on it. It is designed and built by "Mat Industries". Dewalt is no longer a stand alone company. They have been purchase by Stanley, Black and Decker along with many of the tools that we had learned to respect such Craftsman, Mac Tools, Bostitch, Irwin, Proto, Porter-Cable, and others you aren't familiar with; Usag, Facom, and Sidchrome. I purchase the previous model of this Dewalt. I am glad to see they changed the type of compressor that it has. I think the new one with reed valves is a little more efficient. Having said that, I see no difference in yours and mine, so the whole list of complaints I have about mine are still pertinent to yours. The SCFM of the compressor is just enough to run your die grinder, I'm sure as time goes on you will find that is about all the air tool it will handle. Sorry to be so down on this, but like you, I bought mine by the brand name
