DIY Erhu with Plans on VideoZone888
มุมมอง 22K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a DIY guide to how I constructed an Erhu, the 2 stringed Chinese bowed musical instrument. The steps and plans I provide are based on information I gathered from multiple websites and some guesswork on my part. This is my first attempt at making this type of instrument. My only previous experience in making musical instruments was a cigar box guitar I made last summer. Since I have neve...

An original music video based on a fictional experience of a young male immigrant who came to Canada's prairies in the 1800's to start a farm and save enough money to bring his betrothed from their home country. This is both one man's story and the story of many an immigrant to this country seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Written and recorded originally in the late 1970...

An original song written in 1981 in the back room of a British pub. I had just finished travelling through Middle East and Europe and England was my last stop before heading back to Canada. Wrote this one in one evening. Recorded around 1982 and remixed in Garageband for this video.

An original song. Initially a poem I wrote and then I later created the music. Originally composed and recorded in the later1970's - hence the long musical introduction Lyrics: "Standing on the seashore Mighty sea meets the massive land Rest out on the seashore Clutching dreams in your open hand I feel the power The power finds through me an open door And dreams, instead of world things Pervade...
I'm a luthier and build violins and bows for all the stringed instruments. Well done and thanks for putting it on line.

The snake skin should be from a Cobra 🐍 The sound box, sometimes it’s from a large bamboo.
Python
cut a piece of bamboo with long=15cm and Φ=9cm will be easier
I would suggest that you add a small thin piece of material on the top part of the snake skin, to separate the skin and the moving bow.
That's a lot of hard work, with a brilliant outcome. Thanks for sharing this
I bought a (i think) old erhu and the skin may be in bad shape so I may do what you did to change it. Do you recommend somewhere to buy? maybe synthetic is easier to do? It didn't arrive yet but it was very cheap and nothing looked bad so I fear for the skin :'c
Thanks for sharing all your information with us. Do you plan on making more, or did you just have to get it out of your system?
I am from Kansas and lived in China for 12 years. I learned to play the ErHu while there. You did a wonderful job building and explaining your build methods. I bought my Erhu’s while in China.
so how much it finally cost you to make complete it?
I did not really cost it out since I purchased the wood and other parts in bits a pieces. Also would depend on what kind of wood you use and cost of parts in your location vs. the cost of a commercial model
good enjoy now , i did the same like you and it work very well
Good to hear...I have only learned to play simple songs but I enjoy it!
I only heard learned a Erhu 5 days ago coz this woman just played it like...magic...th-cam.com/video/PD8ep3wGUjg/w-d-xo.html thnx for the vid. I know my way around a tree too. Gona make this
HI Talitha Yes...all the songs on this channel are written by me ...music and lyrics (most in the late 1960s and 1970s)
amazing dedication.. bravo...quiet a hard challenge indeed...
is this an original song? i love this song
Yes it is. I wrote the lyrics and music and recorded all 3 part vocals in the 19070's
correction...1970's (too funny)
You're a great songwriter!
In the 70s how do you record audio by the way?
@@talitharizkir2104 This one was origionally recorded on multi-track reel to reel (I had access to the sound studio at my University) then transferred to Garageband. Since the tapes were old there was some deterioration of sound and static. I also recorded on Harman Karden cassette deck at home with Sony Condenser microphones. Those held their sound quality longer.
Wow. So cool! I recently picked up an erhu at a thrift store for free, but it needs a lot of work on the skin etc. could I ask you a few questions?
Sorry for the delay in responding. I don't know if I can assist but what is your question?
That was a awesome job 👍
Thanks a lot
Man, you are my Hero!!!! Thanks for the video, it will help me a lot, i'm thinking about trying to make one too
