    I have a question you may be able to answer. I have this pot and it does make great coffee however, my issue is about the paper filters. I've tried the fold overs but I still get grinds in my basket with this pot. I never had this problem using the same fold over filters with my glass stove top percolator which seems to have a larger basket. I would lift the filter out and it would come out leaving no grinds at all behind. When I switched to Farberware Yosemite pot, I always end up with grinds left in the basket although only a small amount which defeats the purpose of using a filter.I am trying to accomplish easier cleaning of the basket without throwing grinds down my sink for obvious reasons. I also like using a filter because it reduces the amount of cholesterol in the final product. Wetting the basket hasn't made a difference. All in all, I love this pot and the coffee it makes. Thanks for your help

    Boil the water in a separate vessel or an electric kettle. It goes so much faster! Especially if you have the style of perc that has a smaller bottom.

    People think the filter is only to stop the grinds from coming through to your pot of coffee. No, all of the heavy oils and other compounds or filtered out of your coffee because those things aren't good for our health. You need to filter all coffee.

    Old post. But the European standard for a cup of coffee is 5 ounces, not a baker's 8 ounces. Try one rounded tablespoon per 5 ounce cups of water. You can adjust from there. Should be about 7 grams, Google "Coffee golden rule", With a gas pot, heat water to a boil, once perking turn to middle low. Perk for 7 minutes. It's best to adjust the coffee over other things if you need. Don't trust pot markings. Our pot is off by a good deal. The top 6 cup marking is over the holes in the spout. Weight it or measure cups of water. How a pot should work, the pot reduces from boiling to simmer, on a gas pot, the dome at the bottom attached to the steam, boils water, it's the reason middle low heat is used. On an electric, i don't know how the water is controlled.

      I do not live in Europe so I don't make or drink my coffee in Europe, either.

    • @markraciborski4289
      @markraciborski4289 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @PurpleSwan That is not the problem where you live. The problem is when instructions say a cup, but you have no clue as to what unit the manufacturer is using. Sometimes, it is from the country of manufacturing. A cup can be 4, 5, 6, 8 ounces. I just purchased a US stove percolator, and it says on the website that we use the European standard that has been in place for decades as a cup unit, 5 ounces. I have an old US brand, 45 year old, camp percolator, and 6 ounces, which is a cup. Using 5 is easier, 5, 10, 15, etc. of water. 3 x 5 fills a Yeti cup. 2 is 10 ounces, I have a pour over it's 350 ml, about 11.85 ounces. I prefer units of 5 with the percolator when wanting to go up from 3 to 12 cups. It's easy to multiple in your head the coffee you need in grams. I have seen some bad reviews of percolators simply because someone is using the wrong unit for water, for water to coffee ratio because they are defaulting to 8 ounces. The complain, thin, watery coffee. Well no kidding.

    The old adage, that you get what you pay for, is the perfect saying when buying straight razors. If you’re going to buy a shaving tool, that’s going to be used for years of shaving, never go cheap. Also, Dovo is a German company, and has had a long history of excellent quality products. You’ll pay more on the front end, but it’s worth what you paid for all the items you bought combined.

    You're definitely better with that Magic Razor than I ever was! It was my first shavette, now I have one of those hair shaper razors from the beauty store that uses the same longer blades as a Weck Sextoblade. Still considering getting a real Weck, and/or a Feather Artist Club. Hope you're still doing ok.

    The Gold Dollar razors that you bought are fine and usable. You only need to find an experienced and skillful honemeister who could properly hone them. The soviet and french ones have a pretty beat-up shape, but it's still fixable. I believe most of your problems could be solved by a good honemeister and restorer. I don't know if you  are interested after almost seven years since this video was uploaded. But if you're still interested. I recommend you DrMatt357. He does an outstanding job. You could ask him to hone your razors using CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) paste. I recommend it because It's probably the sharpest edge you can obtain that can still be comfortable for your skin.

    Some love for the Sedef. So overlooked. bedore barbers had to use disposable blades, a Sedef appeared at nearly every barber hot shave I had. Usually as a touch up in second or third pass like under nose and sideburns. When looking for my first shavette, they popped up pretty cheap and I knew not to judge by its price- because I'd recognized it and that so many barbers prefered one. I have others but still use Sedef most.
