I really appreciate you showing how you replaced the base plate. No one else has a video about it and it was definitely what I needed to get to it on my own. My plate was replaced by the last owner and applied glue uneven, but the 3m spray is a great idea. How’s it held up?
I loved this video , you’re very talented! Well done!
That means a lot to me, thanks for watching!
You might of said it. But if you did I missed it. Is this engine the 2.2 an interference engine? Like if that chain broke would it have ruined the 2.2? Thanks!
Yes It's the 2.2l . As far as destroyed well that depends on how long it ran once the chain broke. When a chain breaks IT WILL bend pushrods, valves ,damage pistons, and possibly bend rods too.
Hey! I recognize that GORGEOUS cutting board! Nice work!
Like your can-do attitude and realistic approach to the task at hand. Your detailed steps and daytime video angles are helpful.
Good video brother.The next VGG.
Im confused. Is this the timing chain for the valves? It looks like the one for a balance shaft. But i dunno.
The timing chain keeps the camshaft IN TIME with the crankshaft. The Crankshaft determines when the rods and pistons go up and down in stroke. The camshaft makes the valves open and close . I hope this helps.
Oh my God out of Georgia do the same work you do
What do you do?
The funniest part of this video was when you held up the roller and it looks like someone I've been pulling porcupines through. He said he only used it for one job that's funny. I was just cleaning my rollers and I've had my planner for about seven years has absolutely none of that shredding and tearing in garbage I'm guessing the dude had no idea how do use a planner and ran a bunch of crap through that he shouldn't have
I was thinking the same thing when I was buying it from the guy lol
How do you set timing on a1982 Chevy sixselleder
Most all chevys have those dots on the crank and cams, those dots need to be across from each other to be in time. Thanks for watching!
Great video! What rip fence system do you have? I have a Craftsman 113 table saw i bought new years ago and my only dislike is the fence.
I picked up a 113 table saw last year that has a Biesemeyer fence and I love it, I had another craftsman saw that was my uncles I bought when he passed away and was looking to upgrade the fence when I found this one for $130.00 at an estate garage sale way cheaper than a fence upgrade.
Its a Vega 27 I think they call it. They make a 36" version if you need more travel to the right. I got mine from Rockler a couple years ago. It's a awesome fence and I highly recommend one. Thanks for watching.
@@dancrumley9015 Hey that's a pretty good deal for a Biesemeyer
I thought it was the guide that made the ticking sound not the chain because it's plastic and wears out pretty quickly - it's what ends up letting loose the correct tension and allows it to have slop which could cause the chain to streatch when starting the engine. I've never replaced my chain and i have 278,500 miles and some change on the engine. The tensioner and guide is a part built to fail and have Chevy get you to go to their shop and get overcharged to replace. I bout a couple sets of the timing chain kits recently though for one reason... Chevy is discontinuing production and "SALES" of parts for anything that is older than 8-10 years (Maybe not everything but everything I've tried to get so far says discontinued or the like at any parts store - and the prices of what is left is sky rocketing - everything also has to be ordered just about at any parts store.)
I mostly get preformance aftermarket stuff from Jegs or Summit. It's built better and holds up longer than most OEM parts, that what I have noticed.
What kit did u use?
What Kit are you asking about, The Pulley installer thingy? Thats a bearing/ pulley Install tool from autozone. You can rent them there as well.
You might want to edit this video because you’re telling everyone to put the block that holds the spring in upside down. I just changed mine out and I have 2 dw735’s one with a blown motor that I kept for parts so I took the front roller out of the old planer to fix my good planer and both of them the block was on the opposite way that you’re telling everybody to put it on. Anyways mine is working fine now. Just thought I’d let you know because this is the only video I could find on changing out the rollers.
I took It out to not cause confusion Thanks
So nobody wants the templates huh. Ok then
Thanks this really helps
Thank you. Great footage. I also have a 650 with leak. I will follow your advice. Hopefully that shall solve the issue. Keep making more videos. They are quite educational…!
I hope this fixes the leak and thanks for watching!
Awesome video and instructions
Thanks 👍
Grazie 1000, mi sei stato di grande aiuto ✌
Right on brother great video as well. I Have a 95 Chevy S-10 2.2 L liter love the truck and now that I watch your video I feel that I can put my timing chain on with conference
You got it bro , hope everything goes smoothly
Thanks for sharing I’m sure it’s only a matter of time until mine has to be done as well
I hope do don't have to run into this. It's no fun at all.
Thank you for sharing now I know what that sound is in my 86 s10 and I can get to fixing it come spring time big help

Thank you Great Video. Keep it That's a nice truck. You got the luxury of a nice looking, cool truck that's payed for bro!
Thanks 👍
Good tips thanks!
I’ll add some tips from doing this. I used a crank sprocket pulley to get the crank sprocket off, made it a piece of cake. I used a large socket and a mallet to get it back on. I had to weld a nut to one of those bottom studs to get it out. The other one wasn’t rusty and took a E4 bit to remove. When putting the sprockets and chains back on I counted each link on the chain and each tooth on the sprocket to line it up. My chain had a black link to act as a timing mark. I divided the number of chain linked and added a second black link with sharpie at the opposite end of the chain, the new mark was a “half link” if you will. What I did was count each tooth and mark the top most tooth in the cam sprocket and the bottom most tooth on the crank. I lined the black link on bottom and black link on top with the marks on sprocket ensuring that i did not skip a tooth basically using simple math, took only a min and was for peace of mind. Got two quotes for the only shops who would agree to even do it. They wanted 1500-2000$ and claimed 11 hours of shop time… I’ll add this did not exactly fix the noise I was trying to solve which I think resides in the tranny. However my tensioner guide was brittle and snapped when I removed it so it was due. The parts fell In the oil pan and I had to use a coat hanger to get it out. I used blue locktite on the cam sprocket bolt. I installed a new clutch on the fan while I was doing this work. Another thing I learned doing this, when the timing marks are lined up it’s actually tdc for exhaust stoke. When the cam is 12 o’clock and crank is 12 o’clock that’s when tdc for compression happens. I figured that out using a ballon and compression test kit. Took the gage off and put ballon on. Watch d it fill up. Maybe that’s obvious to someone else but iv never done this and expected tdc for compression when the marks faced each other.

Why you look like you about to cry? love anyone whos working on a vehicle in their yard like 70% of men do.
70% in Rural Areas I may add.
He looks like that cuz it’s the second time he’s had to do this chain
I don't know maybe I'm just ugly like that. It's a face only a mother could love I guess lol
Great content my man
You video was very explanatory and very simple to follow, thanks
The right tools Beer and a smile is all we need bro maybe a friend to get in the way lol good video
Lol thanks for watching
Try changing an engine swap in a miata that's tight lol
When in doubt drink a beer lol, you'll get it done sooner or later
For the fan clutch for my 2003 Chevy s-10 I had to get a big crescent wrench and put a ratchet strap on the wrench and hold the cheater bar
That thing is a booger if it's never been off before, for sure
At 07:30, you said that the thicker part of the spring support block goes uppermost, it does NOT! The thinner part goes uppermost - you can see this at 07:11 when you remove the block.
I know for a fact that if the thicker part is up then you have more spring pressure forcing down on the material. You can put it however you feel is best for you. Mine is working just fine. Thanks for watching
I inverted the bushings on both sides of the front roller like you did. My front roller was in good shape, but wasn’t grabbing the board and feeding it. It now feeds perfectly. Thank you.
Great video, I've got a pair of rollers coming this week and this video will save me a lot of time. Dewalt are sending me some used rollers from their repair shop, basically because they don't have any new rollers in stock - and I've been waiting for nearly two months. When are they gonna learn that these things are a consumable part and they need replacement every few years? It's a great planer but Dewalt's after-sales service is dismal.
Did you have to drain the oil first?
No but a little did come out , probably because of the leak I was having
Just did my oil pump and timing chain on my 2000 S10 this video was a life saver thank u. Keep them coming
Glad it helped
I've removed broken screws on a mill but running it counter clockwise very low speed using a center drill quickly drive it down and up that should pop it loose.
This was a great video. I started having an issue with my rollers last week. I am going to use your video to replace the rollers. Called the repair center i was quoted a price that the repair could cost up to 350.00 plus shipping both ways. 😢 You are a life saver. Definitely will be watching your future videos. Thanks!
Im glad I could help, let me know how everything turned out.
Just finished mine after cracking the cover and braking a tensioner bolt but got everything welded and replaced good as new but I don’t recommend doing this if your not very handy with working on cars this isn’t very easy and absolutely do not crack the timing cover it is literally impossible to find or buy anywhere literally no one carries it
Great video! More S10 videos please :D
Anyone else have a hell of a time getting the left side sprocket on?
Mine went on pretty easy, there could be a bur on the shaft or the key holding you back
Great video! This video is the sole reason my rollers are finally clean! One small tip to go along with this video. Flip your planer up side down. No longer fighting gravity and you can see everything way easier. Thank you for this video!!
Great tip! Thanks for watching
Got the same job going had a horrendous sound start pulling in from work one day, parked it and did some research i suspected the timing chain so i took the cover off amd the tensioner was broke what looks like one solid peice. My question is how do i know if its jumped time and or bent valves if so how do i set it on installation
If the chain didn't break you are probably ok with it not jumping time. If you have any bent valves it would make a really loud pecking on the upper part of the head. Just make sure the dot on the crankshaft and the hole on the cam gear are in line with the new chain and tensioner and you will be fine, I how this helps and thanks for watching.
How'd you get the oil orrifice plug out? Im having a time @deckerdoesitdiy
@deckerdoesitdiy completed the job fairly smoothly thank you for the video going for a fresh battery today for start up
What I was doing I was doing wrong and it "blew up" while going through the planer. Long story short, rollers don't roll. Fussed with planer for a couple of days with no good results. Stumbled upon this video and decided to check other side of machine. While taking the cover off noticed part of a sprocket on the floor, found the rest of it inside planer and hole in cover. Parts are ordered and my fingers are crossed. If it wasn't for this easy to understand and follow video I may never have (hopefully) solved the mystery of the lazy planer. Thank you Decker. I will be following you and all of your videos. Recommend everyone does the same..
I hope you got your planer fixed, They ain't cheap by any means, and I'm excited to hear that maybe I could help somebody out with these videos. I appreciate you watching.
Love it but can hardly hear you over the music
Sorry about that, this is one of my first videos and Im still learning the editing side of things. Its getting better
@@deckerdoesitdiy no worries!!
Great video man.
Appreciate it!
