absolutely gorgeous, it feels rare to hear such clear almost chorale like writing in jazz, but maybe i just need to listen to more big bands

I have recently been listening the the entire "Stick It" album and I just can't get enough of this ballad. Although significantly slower than most play it, the arrangement is masterfully beautiful. I would also venture to say that the shout chorus is one of the best ever done by a big band - that's right... a shout chorus in a ballad!

This is the first entire jazz solo I learned off an LP. It's also one of the first practical lessons in music theory I self-taught myself, the shift from minor to major. The Soul Stirrin' LP is probably the most influential recording in my life. A virtual textbook for a kid just getting his bearings in playing jazz.

Nice work, Cam. Ever since discovering Ido several months ago, he's been one of my favorite trombone soloists out there. He's getting more and more exposure, including some soundtracks where I was able to see the full orchestral personnel.

Not sure why you chose to transcribe to 3 bones, but this chart does have 4 trombone parts. John's a great guy, and Reichenbach is a legend. 💯
