I have been very happy with them.
Hook up capacitors to your battery
Drill holes in spare tire , delete the DPF, EGR cooler. Or get rid of the car. When your fuel pump shreds, It will cost you about ten thousand dollars to, It chunks metallic pieces Into your fuel tank and all the way back.. Get rid of the car. Not a short trip daily driver. Get a subaru

2nd time Im going through this with Tiguan. Problem is my code readers, both, say No fault codes, repalced both rear speed sensors with cheap ones and then Bosch brand , still same , brought to dealer to check. Its possible Hubs are an issue , but not sure, lol

do these things take DEF?
This one does not. VW didn't start using DEF on the 2.0 TDIs until 2015.
@@VHickleGarage ah i thought everything was using def after like 2007-10 lol i work on diesel and mostly all i do is work on def emissions systems 😂 i made a rule to never own one that takes after treatment nonsense lol
@@Sloppyjoe96 The majority of my issue with this one stem from the sunroof drains leaking into the car. The engine has been pretty good. DPF is showing signs of being cracked now though. If this was a manual car that I planned to keep forever I would eliminate some of these exhaust restrictions 😉. . .even without the DEF it's a little ridiculous.
I have a 2012 Sportwagen 70k miles and for the past 6 months, I have a problem intermittently (usually in the AM when it’s dewy), it starts and then sometime stalls while other times allows you to drive and pops up Error Brakes: Service Now, lights up all lights and only the middle digital part of the gauge cluster works and the gauge doesn’t light up, only the Christmas tree Any insight, I can’t fina a definitive solution only people with the problem I’ve heard abs speed sensors and the Can Bus Gateway module under the dash
Do you have the Pano Sunroof? This sounds exactly like my current problems from the front sunroof drains leaking down in the fusebox / cluster / module area. So far I haven't actually fixed the problem either. First step is to stop the leak. Think I just did, now I need to figure out the solution to the problem. I've removed, inspected, and cleaned my cluster. In my case it's looking like it's probably the module under the dash, but I haven't inspected or tested that yet. If you haven't, you should scan the computer, but my guess is your issue isn't from the ABS sensors. Check back. I'll try to get a video out about it when I actually fix this problem on mine.
@@VHickleGaragei do have the pano sunroof but it does not leak to my knowledge, i figured after seeing this video, i thought the abs sensors might be a first solution as they are cheaper than buying a can bus gateway module, i found it for $100 on amazon but it was no returns so i hadn’t pulled the trigger yet . If it works for you, I definitely will
@@hoppy1028 If it's the ABS sensor then you will definitely see a code for that, so unless you do I wouldn't waste money even on the cheaper part. I see it's the Body Control Module that's right under the fusebox. That seems the most likely culprit, but I'm trying to find a way diagnose whether it's that or one of the other modules. I did also find most of my fuses had light corrosion, so I cleaned them and the box as much as I could.
@@VHickleGarage i rarely ever get a code at all, the only codes i have ever had are U0155 and p0155, but those come and go. I ended up putting my battery on a on/off remote so when all this happens i just turn the battery off for 30 seconds and everything resets and the car works fine
i think I’m going to unplug mine to see exactly what model i need to replace as I’ve seen multiple part numbers for the module
What’s the sensor part number
It's going to vary depending on location, and your vehicle. You'll need to look up the correct sensor for your vehicle. If you want the one I used, there is a link in the video description.
My sister is Florida. You all be safe . God bless you all.
The same lights are on. They connected it to the device. No error code appears. What could be the problem?
Do you have any other beeping, or warnings showing on the dash display? Was it scanned using a VW specific scanner? It's either an ABS sensor, the ABS module, or if you're getting other warnings about brakes and "driver assistance button defective" then you've probably got the issue I'm dealing with presently. Leaky sunroof drains getting water into the fuse box, cluster, and can bus module area. I haven't fully diagnosed, or fixed mine yet, but it's pointing towards the can bus module being bad, or corroded from water.
Godspeed
I’m late but what are you using on your laptop to clear out your codes on your Volkswagen. Also Where did you get the plug-in ?
Ross-Tech.com VAG-COM with their VCDS software. Worth buying if you have a VAG car that you plan to keep for a while.
Yes generators and extra supplies. Move uphill and pray !!
Bad when you have so many cars to move at the last minute. God bless you all.
I was over to friends house and I hooked up his code reader. It didn’t pull any codes, but I’ve had the same warning lights on the instrument cluster intermittently. I do have the Ross Tech VCDS cable. However, I didn’t use it yet. Do I have to use the Ross Tech cable to see which wheel sensor is causing the problem?
You should be able to see something with any OBD2 scanner. That being said, I would try the VagCom and see if you get anything different. I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a single code with all those warning lights on. It's more likely there is a module communication problem and that's why you didn't see any codes, but try VCDS before you go chasing anything else.
what is the device and app you used to clean the codes?
VagCom cable from Ross-Tech, and their VCDS software.
Is this sensor on the driver side or passenger side I’m having the problem on my 2016 Jetta 1.8 and wanna get this job done this weekend
Each corner of the car has a sensor, and each sensor is specific to that location. You'll need to scan it to figure out which sensor. Alternatively you can just buy all 4 and change them out, but there's always a small chance that it's not a sensor. Scanning is always the best 1st step.
Did you have any issues with brakes locking up due to the bad sensors?
I have not experienced any issues with that because of the speed sensor. I don't think I've heard anyone else report that either. Not a stretch since this is the ABS system, but that might be indicative of a different problem. Have you scanned the computer to see which codes are showing?
I have been a VW customer for YEARS (5 different VW's, 6 if you count the Karhman Ghia i had in high school). The wheel speed sensors are clearly a poor design. If VW can't, or won't, address this issue I have been subjected to 4 different times, - then I think it's time to say goodbye to VW. There are MANY other auto brands out there to choose from.
This is unfortunately I very common problem. It's a pretty easy fix, and relatively inexpensive if you do it yourself with an aftermarket sensor. While it didn't light up the dash, I just had to replace two abs sensors on a '99 Chevy too. ABS sensors are technically a wear item, but you're right VW could, and should have done better.
How do i know which wheel speed sensor i need? Is there a special computer for that
yes, your PC.... to find a different brand of automobile to purchase. after owning 5 VW's i think it's time to switch brands. if VW can't design a more reliable wheel speed sensor, will you trust them with the safety of your family?
The best is a VAG-COM cable from Ross-Tech and a laptop. I believe you can see which sensor with any OBD2 scanner though.
Do you have push to start? And did it start the engine or just come up with the lights? I have a 2013 hybrid with push to start. When I start, it shows all these lights but no ignition. I had to hold button for like 10 seconds to turn off, and I couldn't even auto lock from outside. I thought battery might have died? Oddly enough, I waited about 30 minutes and it started to work again but now IM kind of paranoid it will happen again. Not sure if this is the same issue, but I got all those lights as well as notifications for error brake, error airbag, error abs service now. I don't drive my car much because I have a work car so I put maybe 20-30 miles a week if that... maybe that's why? It always seems to struggle or lag with ignition.
Best bet is to scan the computer first. It sounds like you may be having the issue I'm currently having with this Sportwagen. . . .The front sunroof drains leak into the dash by the fuse box, cluster, and steering module. . . wreaking all sorts of havoc. Intermittent Christmas tree lights, beeping, triggering the immobilizer when starting, loss of all or some gauge function. . . occasional loss of hvac control. I haven't 100% diagnosed what needs to be replaced yet.
Hi V.Hickle i hope you are doing fine .The video which you uploaded is 3 years ago however still you have made it so well and clear we understand every bit how and what helped to fix the issue. I have VW golf mk6. I am going through the same issue about the gears which do funny things like downshift and from 1 to 2nd gear it vibrates. You have mentioned the same issue in your video and said after changing the sensor that will also resolve the gear shift issue . What happened eventually ? did it fix the gear mischief shift or not ?
Yes after replacing the sensors, all the weird shifting issues went away as well. It did happen once or twice again after a couple years, but that was most likely from another sensor on the front going bad. I replaced that one, and no shifting issues since.
Install a car battery switch at the negative battery post, so your vehicle will not self discharge your battery when sitting for a few days; some vehicles have terrible parasitic draw on the battery when sitting, not being driven daily!
Your Blazer Truck has a parasitic drain on your refurbished de-sulfated battery, you need to get a ground post idolater installed on your vehicle, isolateing the battery when not in use for a week; ........your battery will no longer drain down when sitting! Pop the hood switch your battery back on and your ready to go!
Headed to the dealership now to get my 2017 Passat back. ABS wheel censor fix cost me $593 US dollars.
just quoted a $600 repair from St*kes VW in North Charleston S.C. for my 2018 Passat... had it repaired at Firestone Auto Repair for $300.
@@canucknanuckofthenorth3457 I thought anything tech or mechanical related, we had to use the VW dealership. My brother in law told me after I got it fixed, that the censor itself only costs $25 ! I wish he hadn’t told me that. 😞
Can the reserve and on fuel lines be reversed
Yes, all the fuel lines are the same size. It would be very easy to get them reversed. If you're having trouble, it's probably the selector valve itself. They do go bad. . . .In fact I need a new one myself.
What diagnostic tool did you use and how much was the new sensor
ASA or ABS
I have tried both, and unfortunately I haven't been able to get either to print without warping on my Ender 3. Even with my new enclosure I'm still getting some warpage.
@@VHickleGarage it is not easy to print. You need to keep enclosure temperature about 60 degrees and good adhesion

I bought mine for $1200 112k miles. Front bumper hood and fend damage.
Sounds like a great deal!
Where did you order your parts from?
The issue on my 2012 Volkswagen Passat is that it's also doing the same thing as yours, where the fan keeps running even if the car is turned off. But mine is the little fan that keeps running. Do you think that if I change the module, it will make the little fan from turning on?
So, which of the fans kept running, the big or the small one? I have the same issue only with the smaller fan.
For me it was the Primary (Big) fan.
Can’t wait for the update. I’m torn between keeping my auto or manual swapping my 88 s15 jimmy 4x4 2dr
Soon my friend. I finally sourced a trans. I'll try to have Part 2 out here in another week or two. Sorry it's taken so long.
I see you are in Florida, can I bring my mk6 over by your place and have my dsg serviced? I don’t have any space to work with. I love your educated video…
To be that much steam it would have to be a blown radiator hose which would mean that's the fault of the owner for not doing maintenance and upkeep
No, it was actually that he got it so hot that the plastic radiator drain plug blew out of the plastic end tank. The radiator and hoses were new, but he had the switch for the radiator fans turned off.
I’m about to start 3d printing car parts. Any advice about the best and easiest software for designing?
Tinkercad is the most basic, and probably easiest to use. I've used FreeCAD a little, but I've only really played with those two. I keep meaning to find a better one and really committing to learning how to use it well, but I've been busy with a lot of other things lately.
I replaced the ABS sensor the a new one and did not solve the issue...
What codes did you have before/after replacing the sensor?
@@VHickleGarage right rear wheel ABS sensor... strange that ABS, ASR and also tyre pressure light are on simultaneuosly
You could try playground sand in distilled water or even silica sand.
I should have thought to try sand when I was doing this. Great Tip!
@VHickleGarage anytime, buddy! Dex-poo is the worst. Bought my daughter an 06 grand prix and I'll be changing it over to green soon.
Also, since dex-poo breaks down into an acidic form, you could try a base like dawn dish soap to cut through it and neutralize it.
Very helpful thank you. I just bought a 2012 Touareg and while driving it home on motorway 🛣, had the ABS, Traction and electronic parking brake warning lights come on. Had a mechanic scan the codes and it came back with faulty rear left speed sensor. Getting it fixed today, but it's good to see how easy it is to replace and maybe worth keeping the old one and cleaning it up as a possible spare. It's seems like a common failure on the Touaregs so being able to swap out almost like a light blub is very useful to know. Also i think I might invest in a scanner, it now seems like a no brainer with modern cars being soooo electronic, I imagine it will save be money after 1 or 2 problems. Going to the dealer for a scan costs about £90. Thanks for making the video and greetings from Cornwall UK 👍🏻.
I would say if you're worried about them you could just order spares to keep on hand. I haven't really had much luck reviving an old one once it starts acting up. I have had decent luck with the cheaper aftermarket sensors though. I would highly recommend getting the VAG-Com and VCDS from Ross-Tech. Being able to easily read codes and interact with the vw specific modules is essential if you're going to do any work yourself.
Tis the problem every time they are really easy to change don't even need to take the wheel off but i would always replace the sensor anyway
What obd reader are you using
VAG-COM from www.ross-tech.com/ Absolutely essential if you work on your own VW/Audi. If it saves you one trip to the dealer it will pay for itself.
Just a quick tip, if you have a set of drive up ramps you can do this without taking the wheel off quite easily
Great tip. At the time I did this one I did not have a set of ramps. I just replaced one of the front sensors, and could have even done it on the ground had the sensor not been stuck. Ended up taking the wheel off so I could see what I was prying on.
Happened on my b8 s4 today
How about I am from Monterrey Mexico I have a 2012 Golf GTI all the warning lights on the dashboard come on do you think that changing the sensors will turn them off can you help me do you have a phone number I can call you sorry for the inconvenience
The sensors aren't that expensive so you could give it a try. However, I do NOT recommend just throwing parts at a problem without trying to diagnose it first. You should scan the computer and see what codes you're getting. Most likely it will be one individual sensor, but it could also be something more serious like the ABS module. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice beyond that. Trying to fix anything without scanning first is often a recipe for wasted money and frustration.
Is it dangerous to drive if diesel leaks from tandem vacuum pump ? I have polo 1.4 tdi .I m worried about my family.i scare about diesel leak may reach exhaust system and car burns God forbids
Diesel is less flammable than gasoline, but ideally you don't want to drive around with a significant leak. Mine was weeping for a long time before I was able to track down the source. However, it was leaking onto my motor mount, not the exhaust. If you know it's getting onto the exhaust then I would try not to drive it until you can get it fixed.
@@VHickleGarage Thx for your answer.Mine leaks to motor mount too.Honestly saying, We traveled 3000 km even I have this problem. Then one-day I said myself, ooo I m so stupid if this leak reach exhaust and it flames? But yesterday I checked again it leaks mount.
@@gokhandemir44 No problem. It will destroy the rubber in your motor mount eventually. . . ask me how i know. My new pump is leaking again, at the fitting this time, so I need to go fix that properly. Fitting keeps working itself loose. Either way I would recommend getting it fixed sooner rather than later.
@@VHickleGarage Thx Sir.
Was hoping there would be more videos to the series. Getting ready to call it quits on my s10 for now and go back to my blazer
Sadly this has not gotten as much attention as I was hoping to give it. I did just get rid of another car, and am planning on using some of the money to get the trans so I can get this project done. Hoping by fall, but worst case I will have this swap done by end of this year.
Really hope to see more on this. I have an 03 ZR2 I want to do a manual swap on. Already did it on my 99 camaro SS a while back. The T56 is so much better than the 4l60e that came in the camaro. I don't know much about the nv3500 though.
