Oymyakon situated in Siberia, Russia is the Coldest Inhabited Place on Earth where the lowest temperature recorded was -71.2°C/-96.16°F
The settlement was started by reindeer herders who watered their reindeer in the nearby thermal spring which gives the town its name, Oymyakon "Water that doesn't freeze".
Around 500 people live in Oymyakon. There is also a grocery store, admin office and a school to which the kids go every day unless temperatures drop below -50°C
It's the hardest place to live in and survive but the landscape is the most beautiful and visiting oymyakon during extreme winters is once in a lifetime experience.
