Episode 4 with Lorraine Patterson
Join me as I get the privilege of hearing a fellow SSLC mom's amazing story of how she was able to get her son with Down syndrome the care he needed when being at home became impossible. When all Texas SSLC's denied Conner care, God miraculously opened the right door and today he is thriving in the San Antonio SSLC. You will be so encouraged when you hear how God worked on their behalf!

A lot of people don’t want to take this step and they wanna try to do it themselves. Before you decide to try to do something that you have no idea how to do. You should look up the statistics and the problems we’re having in this country with, especially grown men that are autistic. They’re filling up the prisons. As adults that have never learned the skills they need to have to not lash out out of frustration and attack people. When they do it as adults, it’s called assault. Because they’re autistic many times they are put in programs, but it’s almost too late at this point the programs rarely work And it happens again. I have no other choice but to charge them and they end up going to jail. Some of you might remember a recent case of a autistic boy who attacked the teacher over a game boy. That was his third assault and he went to jail for five years. They have to have the skills to not lash out in frustration as adults or they end up in prison. If you can’t do that, you need to make sure they’re with someone who can.

Autism is devastating. Don't candy coat this hell on earth. Pray for the parents.. it ruins their lives. Horrible misunderstood. He'll always need state care.... Lesson.......... Use a rubber.

Parents should work in these institutions and learn or get trained to work in these places for not only your child but many others. I can imagine the separation feels like it is wrong. The main thing for anyone is what is best for the person. 🙏

You had 7 children and they all have some sort of autism’s ? No offence but apart from you saying god this and that but then you pass your kid on to the government for other people to raise him and keep him healthy and then get internet clout for it call it what you want but you and your partner need to look at each other and start asking some serious questions.

This is only my personal opinion. I have three children and one on the way. Our first two kids, ages 8 & 4 are both Autistic. We have gone through a lot of unimaginable difficulties and even so, I cannot imagine my life, especially as a child, without them with me each morning, day and night. I respect the decision to place him in a place that has the tools and God willing the love and commitment to ensure your son gets the best care he deserves, however, for me I don’t think I could say goodbye. However short the stay or long, I just can’t do it.

as an autistic guy, i feel so bad for this kid. i'm glad i didn't have parents who "gently" encouraged me out of bed and let me waste their valuable time and my own like this. you're not teaching this child how to handle responsibility of his autonomy, which is what we autistics need. you've created a child who requires this routine to function. watching this, he IS CAPABLE of getting out of bed. but he's not being enabled to live his fullest life. this is a very sad video.

I can only imagine how hard this was. I have a 13 year old Don with severe autism. Non communicative to a certain degree and will need care after we are both gone. He’s not aggressive so we don’t have that issue but I know you love your son and did what’s in his best interest. God uses this to his glory and watches over your son. We know in eternity he will be whole and with you in heaven
