Really appreciate this series and channel as my own country doesn't have much of a history to draw reference from for falconry.
How can a uk falconer order a pair of these great blocks
Wondering what "wildlife science professionals" and bird conservationists would thiink of deliberately hunting US and Canadian-protected species in Mexico, during a migratory period? As most are aware, both Upland sandpipers and Long-billed Curlew are declining species in NA with no harvest permitted and certainly never a "classic falconry quarry" in the literature. I'm deeply troubled by this presentation to a US audience, expecially on social media.
Cooper's Hawks? Oh hell no!🤕🚑
Very Good. Especially loved your ad-lib narration. Youre quite funny! Really enjoyed it.
Growing up in New Mexico and getting along in years in Alaska (77) I have sadly never seen a greater sage grouse in the wild. This beautiful video by Steve Chindgren makes me determined to go see them in their country and see the raptors that seek them out.
Glad I found this channel.
beautiful books and much more beautiful bindings , Thanks a lot for this fantastic presentation
What a great video! A couple years ago, I got into the coin ring hobby. Seeing a video on making liberty bell style bells from 2 half dollar coins, I decided to give it a try. Just as in the your video, it was a time consuming process, but the finished product was beautiful and had a wonderful ring to it! Showing it to my wife brought an unexpected request for several to give as Christmas gifts! That was the week before thanksgiving, and due to word of mouth (my wife’s!), by the end of the year I’d made a bunch (I stopped counting at 80!) for people who’d seen or heard about them and wanted one or more. Most ladies put them on necklaces and wore them as pendants. The end result? I got so sick of making them that I finally sold all my bell and coin ring making equipment! Kudos to this man! Nobody can fathom the time and care it takes to craft these bells! Excellent work Sir!
If you have an inquisitive mind this is a good watch - you will learn something. What this man does is fantastic. Is he passing his knowledge on? Something else that concerns me is that he has all this kit, a fantastic collection of equipment to do the job - He is getting old & we all knows what eventually happens. Has anyone thought of what to do with the set up. If not what could happen is - those that are left have no interest in the "Art of Bell Making" & eventually get rid of all this equipment in dribs & drabs or an auction & so ends the art of bell making.. Please prove me wrong.
Jim is working on a book to provide all the details of his work. And The Archives of Falconry in Boise ID USA will receive and preserve his kit for everyone to enjoy and learn fromz
Cool I made mine out a deer skin very pliable and comfortable. I made 20 of them so I got a year supply.
Very cool 😎 thanks for sharing this video greetings from California
Thanks for watching!
What a great interview. Thank you Jim keeping the tradition of bells alive and your casual explanation of why they are so important to the tradition of falconry.
Thank you very much for this wonderfull video!
I wish I could learn to make these bells. I have spent 15 years in making things there is nothing like Bells they are so very intricate detailed and beautiful.
Our members are able to watch the process from beginning to end! We would love to have your support and share not just bellmaking but even more.
Очень интересно. Я из России. У меня тоже есть два беркута.
Wow, I haven't seen Jim in 30 + years! I wasn't his apprentice, but he taught me lots.
Great video !
Congratulations Rocky!🎉
In1986 and I was living in Utah. A falconer named Steve Chindgren came to my school and did a presentation with some birds of prey. I remember seeing the Redtail fly up to a structure in the gym and then return to the glove, and from then I was hooked! I had my parents drive me to Clearfield, Davis and Kaysville looking for falconry books. That was the year that my love for falconry began. Thanks, Steve! I hope to meet you one day.
That was interesting - thanks 👍
Very well done. I studied Moran's hoods closely prior to my own hood making journey. I've been making dutch hoods for almost 40 years, and the process never gets old.
Excellent Lecture🎓 on the Arab/Middle Eastern Falconry Tradition/Lifestyle!👍 Us Falconer's from the Western Hemisphere,🗺 can learn, benefit and be inspired by their Mastery of Falconry and attempt to elevate our own Mastery of Falconry and get the best from our Birds! ✊🦅 Long live the Lifestyle/Art/Science and Passion, that we know as Falconry!🦅 Happy Hawking!🦅🕊
Arguably the best presentation ever made at the AoF and on a topic seldom addressed today. That book is in my personal library. (My parents were much more generous than yours, but they made me work for other youthful goals)
Awesome presentation as usual, Lauren. I have a question for you if you can answer. What % of the time are hunting expeditions one day long versus mulit-day hunts in Western Mongolia. I assume that depends on the hunting agenda and starting point from the hunting grounds....?
I wish I was in the US to have the opportunity to learn from Lauren and experience the falconry culture
what an amazing experience!
Awesome
Yes I have a question Does the archives House Ed Harrison raptor and egg collection with all the cool study skins. I grow up in Hollywood and spent a lot of time there when I was younger and met many a great Ornithologist there
Thanks for the question! The Peregrine Fund holds a large egg collection and study skin collection which may include some of Ed's specimens but I gather Ed's collection was a foundational part of the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology's bird collections. We are working with The Peregrine Fund staff to eventually help bring this into an online searchable format.
