CANYON SPRINT - HELION 10
A quick rip through a portion of the river canyon below Kootenai Falls in NW Montana.
The scenery along the Kootenai River is some of the best. I hope to explore longer portions of this canyon soon.

Wings Motorcycle Fun Run 2024: Libby Dam
มุมมอง 666 หลายเดือนก่อน
The annual Wings Motorcycle Fun Run in Libby, MT, raising money for Wings Regional Cancer Support. This year, the group was able to enjoy a ride across Libby Dam, which has been inaccessible since 9/11. I was very grateful to be asked to capture the crossing from the air. Enjoy! The Fisher River drainage east of Libby, MT has it's fair share of semi-arid hillsides littered with sparse timber. These are fun slopes for FPV... containing unending flight corridors with great valley scenery. Love your hat! Any chance I can get the name of who made it?
Thanks! I am addicted to them and have MANY. Search "Boston Scally Co." Merry Christmas!
Awesome! I’m looking for ‘em right now. Merry Christmas to you as well!
Overated drone! Vibration, jello and overheat(!) at summer. Chimera 7 PRO V2 have the same performance and efficiency but cost more less. Both drones flies 23km with 8000mah battery with similar speed.
nice flight
nice video. how ypu bind it ?
Nice! Congrats!!! Like the other fellow, I got mine yesterday. I think they did a great job on it. I can't wait to get my new mount so I can try it out. FLYHIGHFPV has them if you need one made.
Sick! I got mine yesterday and thought it was pretty cool
Nice drone shots.
Hah! So random; I just watched a guy doing this yesterday on a tree a bit taller and definitely girthier. His prep was perfect, because it was just as drama-free as this. Well done!
Dang, thats up there!
effen awesome! Was that Rick?
Nope... Rick was busy and suggested Nolan Broden at Libby Tree Care. He's a great young fella!
Fantastic video! one of the best! would love to see Moore like this!
Thank you. Wish I had more time to devote to making videos. Glad you enjoyed it.
Soo awesome
Great video, could probably use some M2x10mm grub screws and blue lock tight for the canopy instead so you didn’t have to cut up the factory screws and be able to use an Allen wrench to get them back out later if need be. As for the rear motor wires, if you were pretty good with a soldering iron you could probably just shorten them up a bit to keep them centered in the factory notch on the canopy, just make sure to do each motor one wire at a time so you don’t accidentally reverse the direction of the motor.
Love the Val haleny visuals
Hello. Do you have any video or tips for setup of a REKON 5 LR in BetaFlight? Just trying to get into this hobby and thinking about a first FPV drone. Love MT! My wife always talks about Libby!
Hello! I don't really have any recommendations for the Rekon 5 regarding Betaflight setup... mostly because mine has always flown fantastic with the stock BF settings - I just never have found a need to tweak the settings. I did update it from BF 4.3 to BF 4.5, making sure to backup my stock configuration before the transition. The migration was easy and the R5 flew just as well afterward. My thoughts on a first FPV quad... I dont think you can go wrong with the R5. Mine is my second favorite drone to fly (just behind the Helion), and has never let me down. Feels like it flys FOREVER on a 2600mah or 3000mah pack - especially on Li-Ion cells. With ELRS the range is ridiculous!
Most important question I need answered and probably a lot of others as well is if the DJI O3 unit has a heat sink on it or not, there’s no mention of it anywhere that I could find.
Hello James! Nope... no heat sink. You cant really see the O3 in my video very well, but there are some better views in my canopy mod video here: th-cam.com/video/9HfI24xz80c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Dd5eJvqZjpctVybR The air unit is mounted toward the front of the chassis, ahead of the flight controller and gets great air flow and I have not had any overheating issues so far. Side note... I am not aware if iFlight has made any changes to the design since initial release. As mine was received in the first few weeks of release, there is a chance that certain components (like a heat sink) have been added. That would be a great question to wing at the iFlight customer support folks sometime.
@@AboveTheBigSky I appreciate it, I’m considering ordering the helion 10 from iflight and will probably order their O3 heatsink to go with it because it stays 100+ during the summer months on the gulf coast and I’ll hopefully be able to get it mounted up. I’ll probably also order one of the new iflight elrs 900mhz true diversity receivers with 500mw telemetry output which I’ll have to install myself because I’m planning to do a lot of tests on it to see what kind of performance the 900mhz version of elrs offers compared to the 2.4ghz. They do offer the 2.4ghz receiver with 500mw of telemetry output power though it’s not a diversity receiver if you’ve had any issues constantly loosing telemetry it would be a big help if you were interested.
Hi. Do you have as a way to get in contact ?
You can find my email by viewing my profile on my home page.
Take the canopy off and save some weight!
@mrkilroy9167 no way man... chick's dig the canopy. 🤣😂🤣
Very nice 😊
Love this spot! Damn that thing can cruise
Awesome I love these videos
Reminds me of Evil Dead for some reason. GROOOOOOOVY!
Doesn't everything remind you of Evil Dead, Jess? LOL
Nice flying and great scenery. Love the Helion 10.
Hello everyone, I bought a Helion 10, installed it, and everything seems fine, but the range is very small, probably a maximum of 700м? Goggles lose contact. I'm using the following equipment: (Crossfire Tango 2 transmitter, DJI Goggles 2. TBS crossfire.) There are no significant interferences. I tested it in an open field. Big thank you for any help!
Have you done the FCC update for the Goggles 2? The Helion comes from the factory with the air unit in low power mode. The FCC hack will fix it. Here are Rotor Riots' instructions... th-cam.com/video/5hz6VNRmngI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PfYaIiGNmylLy8nG
@@AboveTheBigSky Hi. Is it possible to get in contact ?
and can jump an amazing 300 yards.

Very Nice! Very Nice!
The collective term(s) for turkey is A Rafter of Turkeys...or Jive Turkeys!
Wonderful video & what a beautiful area to be flying in. I have a Helion 10" & live in northern Michigan where I'm wanting to fly in areas like this. I'm trying to figure out the best gps settings & the return to home option & make sure it works correctly before going any long distance so for now I've been simply flying around a big open park. Are you running betaflight 4.5? Great flying btw.
Hello! Yes... updated to 4.5 right after getting it. I have had to engage RTH twice since then due to video loss behind obstacles. It has always worked flawlessly and gotten me back to where the video has come back.
There are a lot of Black Widows in Compton...but now that they have cleaned up the gang violence its not as bad.
How beautiful. Man we are lucky people to live where, when, and how we do. Good show, cheers.
Thanks! Where do you call home?
Lol! yes the platipus islands
Great description from an online source: The tower atop Libby Dam in northwestern Montana is truly representative of the cooperation between Canada and the United States. The upstream face of the tower contains this massive sculpture commemorating the Columbia River Treaty between the two countries for the cooperative development of the vast Columbia River Basin water resources. The man pictured in the center is a Kootenai Indian-the first people on this land. His harnessing of two wild horses represents the harnessing of natural forces by man. Clouds, rain, and sunshine symbolize creation and the ever-present forces of nature at work. The fish and flying geese represent the wildlife that finds sustenance from the waters of the Kootenai River and the environment. In the lower left is a bald eagle representing the United 1 States, and opposite that in the lower right is a maple leaf representing Canada. This figure commemorates the two nations working in cooperation in the construction of Libby Dam. The sculptor, Albert Wein of Encino, California, was selected by international competition. The giant bas-relief sculpture measures 27x30 feet and weighs 75 tons.
Whybis it called treaty tower?
7.2 trillion, really????
😅🤣😂
I’m thinking about getting one of these. Do you have to set it up on a computer or can I just bind it and go fly ?
Nothing like and evening Fly By...
THAT Hobo waving on like the 10 car was hilarious. Good catch!
Hi, I just purchased the Helion 10, together with the commander 8 (remote controller) and dji goggle 2. Iflight has no manuals for how to bind these together. Would you please be able to recommend a manual for binding ? This would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance!
Binding the goggles to the air unit?
Bardwell has a great tutorial to bind goggles 2 to the O3 air unit... th-cam.com/video/OuJhWgNnplo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=acND7k6etwyqTST0
@@AboveTheBigSky many thanks. Much appreciated
I just did an amazing flight of Jump Creek Falls in Idaho only to discover that I had forgotten to replace the ND filter after I took it off and all of the footage is blown out. :/ Gotta go back next week. Ugh.
Using the O3 or an action cam?
Action cam 😅
Awesome video ddue! I want a helion!
Beautiful flight ~ I'm loving my Helion
Can’t believe not more snow there? I lived in red lodge and billings freakin glove it out there!
Yeah.. not much accumulation this year. Hoping for a wet summer for sure!
Butte and Missoula area?
I’m wondering that too Jessie

@@AboveTheBigSkyahhhhhhhhhhhh
Im definitely doing this.
Make sure your props are tight. There should be no gap props to motor bell. I had a prop come loose carrying a heavy li-ion pack. Props were tight but had a little daylight showing. Luckily only one arm broke falling from 150 ft with a 18,000 mah pack. 24 cells two red 9ah upgrade energy packs.
Great Idea with the heatshrink. Motors are a bit on a small size, nice for a cruiser.
Yes!
🤘
Your one hell of drone cowboy fly boy. That music makes me want to plan a heist, watch night court, or take advantage of myself..not quite sure . lol
You nailed it Jess... exactly the mood that was intended. 😏
