I donthave a license though I think about getting one and this is my dream plane.
These were a common choice among Alberta oil field surveyors on 1 ton Singke rear wheel trucks. Overloaded daily and probably just as much dirt road as pavement. They were great in this role, All year long. But everything is a compromise. There not as good in winter as a true winter tire and when the oilfield roads turn to mud the Toyo mud terrain was much better.
GOOD JOB
Thank you for thevideos! Very well put together with every step explained and shown well. I have a set coming in now, been thinking about these for a couple years, I have a good guide to refer to now if I feel the need to.
Enjoy your build!
So what’s the status on your 337 now. Do you still have it and do you fly it? If so, how do you like the 337 ownership?
Yes I still own it and fly when I can. Unfortunately between work and weather I don’t get to fly as much as I’d like but I continue to hope I’ll get more time in the future. This continues to be a good plane for me. It is easy to fly, I like the pressurization, it is mostly fast enough. It is not cheap to operate but it isn’t as expensive as the bigger and faster twins.
Ingenpus fix. You did very good. Samauri live on
Thanks 👍
In keeping with the home garage theme, have you checked out the "gyraline front end alignment" tool. Nice buy, that tire changer and balancer just in time for Xmas!
I haven't seen the gyraline but it looks interesting. Hopefully they are successful with it.
You're not a bad rigger either.
I'm an engineer, nice job, good thinking Dr. Dan. Excellent creativity using the wheels, adjusting the arm up, etc. etc. Nothing takes the place of a brain. And just because it was "engineered" by an excellent engineer, NEVER, means it can't be improved.
Nice. Love the garage.
just wat i need spot on
you should "toe in" your speakers and leave a few more inches of space behind, will do wonders on your setup.
I like it. Atomizer is very similar to that used in the Murphy waste oil heater.
By any chance do you have a part number for the plow frame dealer by me tells me they don't make it ? But I see other truck out there with it?
575-63900 mount for chevy k20 truck
Love the color of the candy root beer
I bought a cheap stool from Harbor Freight, took off the seat and attached a wide piece of wood as a painting platform. This allows me to pain and spin the piece without having to walk around the object
"Extra Cost" is a very relative term, and I'd imagine that most people end up leaving a good ~20-25% of tread life on them since they're a very old, ice/snow tread pattern-based design and have variable tread depth from the carcass to the surface, so they will feather, especially in a diesel, if you don't rotate them frequently. 50k Miles on mine currently and even though my idiot brother neglected to rotate one side and basically trashed the drivers front tire, 5 of 6 still probably have another 50K in them. This is on a truck towing 10-14K lbs ~70% of the time as well. They're the last of a dead breed of true Light Truck tires, from a time when "All-Season" didn't translate to "Bad Everywhere"
Wonder if it works for the 2024 Honda Rubicon?
It does I have same setup on a 24
What plow setup do you have on the ‘78? I have a ‘90 Dodge I’m thinking about making my home plow truck.
I have a Western midweight. It works great. Very fast and easy to mount and demount

Got this and it's total shite!!!
This product was ok several years ago. I think there are much more refined options out there now.
thanks for sharing. that's cool that you could keep the stock gauge and have it work.
Thanks
Great stuff. Those new heads will really make that motor open up.
Clean as a glass work man, keep it up, go for bandpass, the bass game never ends
you could have used the parts to make extra kits for future use.
You should try the wood glue iron on method for the veneer next time. I’ve done contact cement before and wood glue iron on method with my last build. It’s much easier with the wood glue.
@@hawker800mech good to know, thanks! I think I will try this
All I did was run a ground from the battery to the back of my starter, no more clicky no starts since then. I dunno if everyone here already has that ground but mine was missing all the power was going to the body through the distributer ground.
Handtool rescue wrench! Nice
Yeah it’s a good wrench. I like his screwdrivers too
Way too tall, especially on a mini bike that's already top heavy.
Replace the wing windows with som from the 90 R/V series, the weatherstrip not only goes inside the channel, it wraps around the doorframe some, helps significantly with the wind noise at the window. Get some 3M weatherstrip, the foam bubble type with the tape and run it along the back, about ⅖ of the way down, up over the top and down the front to where the door meets the fender. With good door and window weatherstrip, it blocks out absolutely everything from sound to wind
Nice! I’ll put that in the things to do. Thanks
How have the new tires been doing. Haven't seen an update yet.
installing deadener inside the doors will make a HUGE difference and improve speaker quality if that matters to you. Door panels are quite flat, especially on a square, so the resonance is a lot greater in those areas.
If you didn't do behind the door cards, it'd probably make a big difference. Also closed cell foam over the deadening would help a lot.
I didn't mention it (or really show it) but there is a layer of foam rubber under the rubber mat. It was there before and after. I thought about putting some deadener inside the door, but there's lanolin rust proofing spray in there so I don't think it will stick. Behind the door card is a good idea and will be very fast and easy. I will do that!
Usually you add a layer of soundproofing foam over the sound deadener (butyl rubber) .
Ok, good to know. Although I didn't comment on it, the foam rubber that was under the rubber mat was placed back in there over the deadener.
Don't be stupid. Just make a helmet 8" thick of Roxul Safe and Sound(tm), and wear it religiously. It will cost you very little and stop the noise where it matters most - at your head. Do I have to think of EVERYTHING?!
Hi you could apply some on the inside roof to get a better result
Yes I think that would help. The only problem is I like the look of the painted “headliner”
still flying the skymaster?
@@IllusiveDude yes, any chance I get. I need more free time!
well if you land tehre be careful place is loaded with canadians. i usally capture a few of them and remove their voice boxes i am a unlicensed dr. after over 500 voice box removals i still cant find out where the ehhhh comes from. they whine and complain every time i get outt he scapel then take them to theyukon and drop them off. safer also i almost got banned from canuk land, guess you shouldnt ask where dudley doo right is
i have owned my 73 p for over 40 years. i have a/c in mine i am near the bc border in the middle of the state., i go to Osoyoos to get gas. as far as noise goes i put in extra insulation or sound deading in rear bulk head made a difference i have a full glass cockpit and 300hp engines take the rear landing gear doors off. also see if it is plumbed for deice boots get the stc for it from skymaster in gatlin tn they installed the new engines a couple of years ago with 3 bladed props and the new reverse rear prop this last aprili also added a larger rear scoop to help with cooling. with the engine upgrades and the 3 bladed props i now cruise at over 250 knts. put some vgs on it mine also has the horton stole kit . it is really a 4 place airplane, i never take more than the wife and me and our 3 dogs. the garmin autopilot with alt hold works great.but i have radar and weather and tcas and taws and shit i havent a clue how it works yet lol been 2 years and i am still learning the radios wejust got back form a cross country trip to maine and then to see some friends in texas then to nebraska to visit a farmer i know. landed in his wheat field, it just had a new 50 grand custom paint job ., new airtex interior 2 years ago. what is fun is if you see a beech barron below you? a couple of thousand feet isto pass him. ask him how his piper cub is doing. what you will findout there are some airports in the states that ban these because they are so loud in so cal i got a noise abatement ticket flying out of torrence 250 dollars. i was not going to pull it back 50% on climb out, not only is it unsafe i dont care about the law. my life my plane,i also got a ticket at love field go figure lol apparently it is louder than some private jets i wouldnt know im in the front seat lol head sets on and a;c cranking i have owned a lot of planes in my life and for me to keep it for 40 plus years is something to think about no yaw fast safe over the mtns engine out is a no brainer i just also had installed a rear camera in case of rear engine failure i n fact the wife and i and the dogs are headed to vegas this weekend, i also change the oil ever 25 hours and plugs once a year..even thos it doesnt usally need plugs this is the best plane i have ever owned, i also airbrushed on the rear cowling mixmaster confusing people/ once you get sometime in it you will fall inlove with it. some people say it is ugly some think it is wierd. others havent a clue what it is. many many years ago i had a rear engine failure i didnt even know it happened. watch those tachs. get a rear camera in stalled.this new stuff electronically is amazing and light weight. okay im off to the tireshop get them to mount 3 new tires i just did the brakes.
Sounds like you have a great plane. I flew over Osoyoos this summer but haven't landed there yet.
What type of gas did you use ?
Just regular 87 octane pump gas
@@dr.dansgarage thanks just got mine today wanted to make sure , read the booklet said something like 90 octane minimum but heard 87 is ok thanks man
Wow!
I am concerned about the point loading on the bottom of the legs the load needs to be spread over a bigger area
They are expensive i wanted them on my truck when i saw how much oh no!
You get what you pay for
I wanted them on my GMC but goddamn they are spendy$$$$$
How did it work for you?
This one works ok. I have a lighter one that’s easier to pull by hand. I also have a way bigger one that I need to pull with a truck. The smaller and bigger ones get used more often. It does pull milfoil nicely at the roots though.
@@dr.dansgarage Thank you for the reply. Have a great day.
Great Video, where did you buy the hard top, can I have the link?
I bought it straight from Rally Tops (the manufacturer).
It turned out great. Personally a few flaws make a truck look even better, I don’t know why.
I tuned in for the Skookum
