Watch This Before Using BIRD NETTING!
Flexible/flimsy netting is risky to small birds and critters. I think you should choose something more substantial like heavy duty deer fencing or my favorite, welded wire which comes in many colors and sizes. It will last longer and it's easy to move and maneuver in my opinion. Whatever you choose, I hope you are able to keep your plants safe as best as you can.

Berry Beauty in Winter: Gorgeous for You, Tasty for the Birds 🍓

Ilex Verticillata aka Winterberry is native USA plant that loves moist soil so make sure you choose an appropriate place for it. More sun equals more berries but most importantly they are dioecious which in this case means the female produces the berries and need an appropriate male pollinator to produce the most berries. I hope you have a BERRY good time growing this! 😊

I have been researching this for a few years now. I have them planted 3 1/2- 4 feet apart. Many people in comments say they will strangle each other out. I do not think this is true. (those people are repeated what they heard somewhere.) If the tree is the same species they should be fine. I have travelled many side roads and seen Norway Spruce, and White pine planted 3-4 feet and they are healthy and fine. I think if you plant a smaller or less aggressive tree beside a green giant it would be a different story.

I had Quicksilver for several years, and I absolutely loved it. For some reason it decided to die though. Quicksilver has stiff upright canes and needs little, if any, support. I just made an order from Antique Rose Emporium over Black Friday weekend because they offered free shipping. That helps with the expense because they've gone up from $19.99 to like $34.99 per rose in the past few years. Mine will be shipped in March.

My neighbors have one on the rear property line with my downward sloping yard. Its roots, the biggest of which grows high above ground, have reached my patio, 50 feet away. The rest of them spread across the top of the soil in a fine web. Nothing other than weeds grows more than 30 feet from its trespassing trunk. It contributes a variety of debris year-round and attracts boxelder bugs that crawl all over my house every spring. It’s the only species of tree I hate.
