Continuing with our latest Wand. Everything went pretty smoothly. There's a video cut around the 15 minute mark where I had to take a conversation out.

Couldn't help myself. Threw my work bench together last night and had to put it to use today. New bench, new wand. ...and I forgot to pick up the epoxy to continue with one of my others, despite being at the hardware store last night... This piece of driftwood could be an ironwood pine, but I'm not seeing the twisting nature of it. Sure is stuff enough to be. It'll be interesting to see how the...

Hey, we had a good run while it lasted. About a little misapplied pressure in the game was over. No sense in getting upset about it. It's part of The Game you play with driftwood and deadfall. I don't know that I'll be working on anything else today with my family obligations and running the kitchen. Enjoy your Holidays, however you spend them. N900

It lives! Well, it survived. The tip was looking pretty shaky but we kind of got it all ready to go as best we can. Next we're going to start working on making the rest of the wand conform to the shape and direction of the tip. We did a little of that here but we didn't really get into it heavily. #harrypotter #wand #wood #woodworking #deadfall

We do have some unexpected developments as we continue to work on this wand. The overall shape of the wand is now going to have to be determined by how much of the tip we can save and whether or not there's enough remaining material to make it pleasing to look at. Unsure. Was nudged to complete this today, so I got to it. It's used to call Hekate's epithets and then get a more full version of her when calling in ritual. At least, that's my understanding from the book's description. This version wasn't good enough and I already knew I had additional things to do to it before I would be somewhat satisfied. Some example criticism for the Hekataeon thus far
มุมมอง 104หลายเดือนก่อน
Just some honest feedback and criticism as I work through the Hekataeon by Jack Grayle. There is an undeniable religious fervor to the work which is a matter of taste, but most of the 28 day entries for the names of Hekate are woefully off topic with the gesture, sigil, and rituals that are for that day. If there are connections, they are not apparent and this isn't helped when the paragraphs f...

Glad to know that I am not the only one questioning the contents 😅
There was a relationship he made the other day that I looked up and he stated it like it was a well documented fact, but it's merely conflating two semi-similar Goddesses that he feels have a link. Nothing more. Which could be why sources aren't included.
Thanks for your service.
Nice looking wand Norseman! I made mine out of a mango tree branch, “decorated” it with tigers eye and green malachite! Good video-Vitriol
I haven't tried mango wood yet. I did come across a 100 year old mango tree on Maui, but couldn't get deadfall worth a damn from it. I've lived on the drier parts of Oahu, so there isn't much opportunity to snag any.
Nice! I'm typically overly hesitant, since most will be purchasing these to add their own touches. BUT when you said "pin", I visualized a copper or bronze rivet, which would work and potentially offset the use of resin, which is also a fantastic suggestion. Thank you @atwoodwest9506
Maybe try to resin stabilize the grip? Then you could pin through with an attuned metal pin or two for connectivity. I'm not sure what your thoughts are on construction. I just found you through your necronamicon review.
Ok, so I'm gonna be 100% honest with you. TH-cam just recommended your channel and I skipped damn near to the end with no intentions of subscribing. I just really wanted to see the final product. Most of the time when I sub to a channel its because it revolves around one of my hobbies. But when I skipped ahead and saw you picking at the end where its split and then watched you snap the entire stick in half, I hit the like and the subscribe button. I can most certainly appreciate how you felt after putting a sh*t load of time into a project and making a video out of it only for it to be a total flop. I've been practicing metallurgy and silversmithing for a couple of years now. I still screw pieces up all the time. Most of the times during a live stream. LOL! I'm still actually surprised when a piece turns out the way I like it. LOL. But anyways, now that I'm subbed, I look forward to seeing your uploads and progress in your hobbies and channel. And dont get to discouraged with the pieces that dont work out. Weather you realize it or not, you're actually learning something every time a piece doesnt come out rite, Better luck next time. I'll see you then. 🍄🙏✌💚
Thanks and I mentioned and partially replied in Wand 8 Video 2 last night. My success rate the last time I was here was around 30%. You can only ask for so much from degraded driftwood. Thank the Gods it's a hobby and not a business 😂

@@billiejean5205 I will, as I work through the book. Most of the stuff I have for her isn't video friendly, but some is. I've started collecting the pieces to make a sort of rosary for her that is also in the book. @@ianallen2 The names are less important when the energetic signature is known. It's primarily what I use, regardless of whether I'm using a sigil, symbol, or seal. It's why that generic sun works for Helios.
Nice work, I like how you work WITH rather than AGAINST the natural grooves caused by nature. I found some dead ivy curled around a fencepost at the bottom of Glastonbury Tor here in England and decided it MUST be made into a wand. One of the major ley lines passes through this area. I smoothed it and burnt some inscriptions into it with a pyrograph and added a tiny topaz crystal to the tip. It is corkscrew shaped and one of my favourite mementos from that sacred area. All the best to you, thumbs up.
Man, thanks for the complements. That wand sounds pretty cool. I've not carved one corkscrew shaped yet. Just snake-like. I did grab a piece of (believed to be) Ironwood Pine I snagged from (I believe) Aiea that reminded me a bit of a corkscrew shape on one half of it and a skeletal hand on the other. I had a similar idea for a walking stick, magical staff, or wand the last time I was here. There are so many hanging vines here that I figured I'd cut some down, soak them, and then twist them into a sort of walking stick/staff. Didn't make it happen, though. I don't cut live branches for something like this and I've lived on the other parts of the island than where the vines were - which meant I didn't have the tools to pull it off - when I could reach them. Oh well.
Oh this is the Sandworm! I love him!
Appreciate this
I think this wand will turn out awesome once completed man, keep up the great work 💪🏽
Thank you. I'm about 80% recovered, but will be busy the next few weekends with birthdays and company from the mainland (US) through Labor Day. Hope to get a few sessions in here and there. My new phone says it needs an hour per 20 minutes video on the GoPro to move it between the two, so I have to work on that. That's unacceptable for my wand work!
Hi Norse. Hope you’re all settled in now. I have a question. How do they utilize the energy “payments?” Much love. 💕
Hey Holly! Sorry about the delay. Already lost one reply I types up, so I'll be pasting this in and hope it doesn't look trashy. Our household stuff came last Tuesday and it's been a hot mess around here since then. Part of my ritual space is in a temp set up. Looks like all of my stuff made it! The rest of the house is a wreck and I expect it will take a few more weeks to really clear everything up. How do they use it? Like currency. Thinking of offerings like currency, regardless of what the offering is will show the parallels between the two when put into practice. I know you're a smart gal, but others may read this and want to know more if I keep it terse, so please forgive me for potentially over-explaining, my friend. Currency gets it's value from a lot of different areas, but here, we have to look at it in a hard currency point of view. Currency is used for goods and services. The value of the currency comes from a lot of things, but rarity and material value of the items it is made from come to mind. Coins of Gold and Silver have usually been more valuable than Bronze, especially when there aren't stores of those metal types in a community. Now, couple that with a sort of Corporate structure. The person at the top can (generally) dole out rewards to those who perform well. This is a common understanding of how complex spirits at the head of hierarchies act, too. Not just Goetics. If Belial hands the task off to one or more of his spirits, he will likely pay them, right? Now, think of building a house and all of the people that go along with that, especially if it's done right. Not just the construction personnel, but those overseeing it. The plumber, electricians, roofers, maybe even interior decorators. All of them have to be paid and not all at the very end - IF the house gets built. The foundation layers won't wait that long for payment, when they have to work at the very beginning. The payments are asynchronous when there are a lot of moving parts and some parts can't be started until others have finished. You're seeing the similarities, I'm sure. I provide a rare form of payment. Not just blood, but magician's blood who's doing magical acts and cultivation just about daily and frequently multi-daily. That makes it even more valuable. Getting it from a magician that practices regularly is rare compared to regular people. Getting it from a magician that practices a lot is, arguable, a lot more potent and certainly much more rare. While there's something to be said for progressive practice, this isn't the place. So, they have a magician calling upon them for atypical work (not just the typical emo requests), providing a rare currency that is desired, and the only strings attached is that they work to make my outcome happen. Seems a bit hard to resist, right? Yet some do. Not because they don't want it, but usually, they feel the mechanisms for the outcome of my goals are better done by others. None of us can agree on how "busy" these spirits are, but for shigs (sh**s and g*ggles), lets assume they have finite resources (troops they can apply to something) and that they are juggling a few tens of thousands of other requests. Makes a bit more sense in that light. Another reason is that they know I will call on them again for something similar. Now, someone reading is holding up their hand and wondering about the "rarity" or scarcity of it if I dole it out like parade candy. Fair point! But it only comes from the SOURCE once. It's second hand after that, at best. Truth is, where that currency is accepted, I've never had it seem like a stale "second place" that I recall. So, there you go. I could prattle on, but the points should all be clear. Let me know if there are more questions and I hope you and yours are well. Hit me up back channel if you need something, my dear.
Hello Norse. Thank you so much for your detailed response. I appreciate you over explaining because I happen to like over explaining lol. I keep forgetting to ask about your Grimoire. I am SO excited! Will it be on paper or Kindle only? If on paper can you put me down for 4 copies? I mean, if there are enough to go around. Of course I will pay for all of them. If kindle then no worries. If it matters, I think a paper copy would be ideal. I am so happy to know you Norse. Thanks again for all of your selfless time you’ve devoted to teaching us. It is priceless. Xoxoxo Kristen 💕💕💕
You're a sweetheart. I was going to add a symbol for Pele (similar to a sigil in many ways, but different) before publishing it. My artist friend has been really busy, soI may publish without it. I wanted it out a month ago. I may just publish my Campaign Planner while waiting. I was hoping for permission from the owner of the deck I like to use in my photos, but I don't really need it. In the meanwhile, I'm STILL unpacking. Maybe half of the house is done. My ritual space is usable, but not organized like I want it to be. I still don't have a place to carve wands like I have been. I did put out a video tonight showing the older wands from my first time in Hawaii (and a few others) that made it. None of my ritual or Etsy stuff has been ruined. The US Mail ruined my Hecate idol, the first idol I ever bought, but her replacement came the other day. My Norse idols are on the way from both overseas and CONUS. Overseas one failed already and is a resend, but I already bought some from Vermont that have been shipped. Pretty excited about that. Have started reading various things in preparation for that. IF that idol makes it to me and you want it, let me know. Hit me up privately for that.
That is so cool that none of your things were broken. So far anyway. I moved a few months ago about 1/8 of a mile and the movers managed to break and lose things. Ugh. I am so happy and excited for you! For the move and the book. Only you know what belongs in it, but seems like Pele has been a big part of your life. This book is your “baby” and if her sigil belongs there it isn’t too long to wait another month or two. I will email you about the Norse thing. I have a bug pic to send you anyway 🤓 Hope you’re getting settled in and back to normal soon. Hugs. Xoxo

Don't stop now...
No worries. Processing and upload takes about twice as long as the video - at the fastest. Usually 2-3 times as long, but if the GoPro overheats, it'll take longer. The longer the video, the hotter the GoPro. Haven't do it in chunks.
if you want a text that really feels more like the necronomicon and which is disturbing and could evoke some fear then i recommend The Gates of Dozak by Michael Ford , or the works of Mark Alan Smith
Thank you. I will check those out. I can't say I've liked most of MFW's work, since it's hard to discern opinion from history (Sumerian/Babylonian thinking here, based on scholar reviews). I appreciate that.
@@borednorseman8814 - that is true Ford undoubtedly has his own interpretations but that said, i have to say the deities, entities and descriptions in his work were like nothing i had ever come across before and i have just always felt some strange attraction to his work - and his music too, alot of very raw black metal and eeries ambient soundscapes. His work is less focussed on the sumerian lore, and more on ancient persian, and works like the zend avesta. He does though also have some books on other areas like egyptian and babylonian spirits. I think also his book Luciferian Witchcraft really brought some strange energies with it when i got it years ago - the day it arrived at my work, there blackouts and then at home that night some gas smell filled the house but no source could be found... and then soon after i was reading another one of his books and fell asleep only to be awaken by some roaring demonic sound . I also have his Luciferian Tarot and the bookfor it is excellent and the deck art i really feel unnerved again by, but that is good, it has again just some primordial kult rawness that more produced tarot card art just fails to have. The tarot has also worked very well when i have used it .

Thanks! If I end up making a finished wand, I likely will go that or a similar route. I've contemplated using my burning pen to practice on it, but that's somewhere over the ocean at this point in time
I make wands too, my company is Dragon Wands. I love wand making when i retire im going to make them full time!
Pleasure to meet you, fellow Wandmaker! It's just a hobby for me. I typically end up just giving them out to your Harry Potter fans or friends like I have the last dozen or so of them.
The paperwork was done and recorded in less than 48 hours. The people are...not amenable. It's a ridiculous scenario when tests are good, but Oahu Animal Quarantine nonsense is more concerned with money from making them stay, than science. They use Science as a reason to keep them there, but disregard it when it means they should be able to leave. There were no problems 5 years ago, with the simpler process, so this is clearly a revenue generating enterprise at this point with the excessive additional rules they enforce arbitrarily
You back in the HI now?
Back in MD now until mid-June. I went to HI for 10 days to house hunt. Found out last night that this was successful and we're waiting on the rental agreement paperwork to be sent to us! House hunting in Hawaii with cats and needing a good school isn't easy, so that's a big relief.
I am thrilled for you! How do you get the cats there? Do they go sedated in a crate? I am very happy you’re on the way soon. That is wonderful.
@@hollyvangaalen No, we fly Alaska Airlines. The cats are allowed to be put as a carry on and sit under the seat in front of you, in place if a bag. Otherwise, we'd need a crate and our experience with United and their jackassery with pets is why we fly Alaska!
Oh cool! I wanted to ask in case I have to fly with the kitteh. Many hugs to you all ! Soak up some of that beautiful scenery for me!
The process for getting your pets there is much more complicated now than in 2018. Wouldn't be worth it if you aren't staying a while.

Yay! I’m looking forward to buying your book someday. You really went all out with the blog and IG. I’m super excited and working through all of it.
@@hollyvangaalen You're too kind. I have stuff here and there on the Internet as Norse900 on several public forums. I'm anonymized on one at my request, but The Occult Mirror is still going.
Good to know. I saw your last post in OM last year and didn’t think I would see you around again. I’m glad you’re back 🙂
@@hollyvangaalen Ah, good! I needed a change of pace. Moving back to Hawaii in June and additional work responsibilities added serious stress. I knew I couldn't do it all.
So, who do you owe this debt to? I don't understand why you owe money for existing here? I hate it here so the thought of having to pay extra just makes me tired.
The belief system is that there is a sort of mirror world for the dead that mimics the world of the living. There's a central bank that collects and disperses funds. It's important to remember a few things. One is that this was for a time very long ago and for a specific geographical area that would make up the majority of any "world" someone would live in where this practice originated. As for your point of view of not liking it here, I can actually relate. I wanted to "go" in Iraq. My way, on my terms. DId extra missions, took some extra risks. I was an Infantryman living outside the wire, but it wasn't to be. Body broke a little over a year later to add insult to it. I am self-aware enough to know that my "mission" to make this my last incarnation is related to that. That happens to be a useful source of motivation for making progress in several Occult paths, since I will also work my ass off (like an Infantryman) to "earn" it.
What is a realistic price for the book? Sorry my english is bad!
They were $25 for the physical book and $10 for electronic (Kindle) when I bought mine. As thick as it is, that seems fair to me. As another user pointed out, this is a print version of the online one. I can't remember what the differences are, if any.
@@borednorseman8814 Thank you very much for your response. I'll consider buying the book if I can find it around here. 👍
Also would you discuss the results you got from this ritual and other practices you do too?
Sure, when/if I hear back. I can say that there was reduced talking again and one of the things I wanted changed was them holding prolonged conversations 20 feet away, instead of going to one desk or the other. That did start to happen, but it'll take more than a single day's worth of "success" to see consistency.
I was told a week ago that the friend with the medical condition has had no more episodes from it and is awaiting test results. So that's better, but all I know. The talking has once again subsided outside of regular chit chat. The long, drawn out, distracting convos are largely not happening.
Hey Norse!
Nice review. I've also read the book and I do see it more positively (really positive), but I did come from a completely different direction. I mainly came for the stories and wanted to be immersed in this Lovecraftian world. So I actually only browsed over all the celestial stuff. However, I'd like to comment on the impractical sigils. I think it's important to take the background story of this particular book into account as it was laid out in the preface. This is a translation of the late 15th century Black Letter Edition of the Necronomicon. That's also where these woodcuts come from. So we're not looking at the original sigils but at reinterpretations of late medieval/early modern artists. Basically, we're looking at things through a medieval filter. As such, the artists surely embellished the designs and made them more beautiful and more complex than they needed to be. Also, from other sources (like the Picatrix), it seems as if the actual specific design of a sigil isn't really important as long as the image can somehow be identified, e.g. if it says that a sigil should display a woman holding an apple, it doesn't really matter how detailed woman and apple are as long as they can be somewhat discerned. Apart from that, the book is big. And it's supposed to be. It's a collection of various stories, topics and sources. I think it deliberately was designed like that, like an ancient holy book, which includes repetitiveness. If you read ancient Holy Books like the Bible or the Quran, or magical books like the aforementioned Picatrix, they are filled with repetitive phrasings. I think this is all part of the world building here. Sure, you could have shortened the Hymns to Cthulhu, you could have kept out celestial stuff which can be found elsewhere. But this is supposed to be Abdul Alhazred's collection, so it's bound to contain a lot of that stuff. So for me, the book is designed to be read like you'd read the Bible: Not front to back, but you pick individual stories here and there. Also, while it clearly is disjointed (and I believe deliberately so), I did get a kick out of some of the cross references. For example, in one of the stories (don't remember which one) Abdul Alhazred describes in passing how he found the Hymns to Cthulhu that are included in the book. Or I'm sure you have noticed that the woodcut of the Silver Key is adorned with some of the sigils that are explained later in the book. If you cross reference those two, otherwise independent, sections, the narrative around the Silver Key becomes a bit clearer. Regarding the tacked on stories in the end, I think you may be right. Though there is some logic to it. There are basically three types of stories, as far as I can tell: Autobiographical stories of Abdul Alhazred, stories that Abdul Alhazred received through visions and stories Abdul Alhazred collected through other means (those are in the last book). So I get the separation of these stories along those lines into various different books. However, I think the book should have started with the Book of Forgotten Lore, not ended with it. Instead, I would have put the visions at the end of the book, like it is with the Bible and the Book of Revelation...then again, maybe that would have been too on the nose and of course there are many more books about visions in the Old Testament of the Bible.
By the way, did you know that you can find a digitized version of the "original" on the Internet Archive? I can't post links on TH-cam, but if you go to the homepage and add "details/the-necronomicon_202308" to the address, you'll see it. Pretty cool if you ask me. The images are pretty high-res, so if you like some of the woodcuts, you can print them out yourself or have them professionally printed as props.
archive.org/details/the-necronomicon_202308/page/n35/mode/1up I hadn't seen this that I recall. Good thing the spills are near the edges.
I appreciate your reply. If I had come for the stories or mostly for them, then I would've been more than overjoyed. I think your suggestion that backend stories be pushed to the front would've been much better and removed the inconsistent feeling of it.
Thanks a lot for this comprehensive review! I was looking to get this book now it just went down on my priority list. I guess I'll start with Simon or Asenath Mason. Very unique perspective and I agree with what you said about planetary magick.
Well, if you aren't into Planetary stuff, then I wouldn't bother with Tyson's works on it. He crams things into ceremonial cans, too. If you're into dream work or astral work, then you may like Mason. I'm not into those areas, so her works haven't done anything for me. I've only read a few all the way through, to be fair. Love the artwork, but she's a bit too far down the fluff dark wording path for my likes. If I liked dark fluff wording, I'd read the Balg stuff or the Cabal's material.
@@borednorseman8814 I see. The thing is Thomas M.'s book is pretty expensive where I live, so I'd rather invest in sth I can make better use of. I'm still an apprentice, not exactly sure where I fit in yet. I've worked a little with Runes but nothing too in-depth. I was interested planetary magick at some point but never actually worked with it, so I don't have an opinion. But in dealing with The Great Old Ones I think it's just unfitting to say the least, for the reasons you've mentioned. Back when I was hyped on my occult studies I liked to correlate a lot of stuff and create my own systems, I guess I might do just that. I'm also planning on getting more acquainted with Lovecraft so I can take it all in. By dark fluff you mean she uses too many "dark" words at once in her writing? And finally, what are your areas? What do you like to work with?
So, I don't know that I would go searching the the Old Ones quite yet if you don't have an established practice. Just my opinion, but you'll likely find that there are several levels and different types of egregores that will answer the call and you'd probably want to have more experience with spirit interactions first. You do you. That's just an opinion. About the dark fluff. There's light fluff, too. Normally, published modern "grimoires" have a lot of flowery and emotional language in them that is designed to fill space, use an emotion to cover up a lack of depth to what's being talked about, convey an authority by talking above the education/experience level of their target readership. If they keep reverting to flowery language, trying to impress with pretend scientific understanding of unprovable things, or rely on a dark, edgy or a divine vastness and grandeur, they're probably guilty if this is used a lot. There are places where this is appropriate, of course. Whether a book is using it can typically be judged by asking what usable material was just presented. Usable is the key part to latch onto. Another would to ask if that material would work in a DnD story. This can't cover everything, naturally. I'm not going to write a novella in YT comments :)
@@borednorseman8814 rest assured I'm not thinking of doing anything reckless. All I'm after is some stories for inspiration and a good material for studying. Maybe one day I'll try calling them but that's still years away.
Love the desk lamp!
Thanks! It was a nice find from Ali Express. This is the "large" version. I've thought about getting another one and leaving it in the box, just in case. But the thing is mostly metal, so it should last a while.
Idk if you're still in Hawaii, but got concerned when I heard about the big fires. Hope you're doing ok. Excellent video.
Thank you. I move back there in June, so I was safe from those. No family lives there and most of my friends are on Oahu, so they were safe too. I appreciate your concern.
🧞♂️ love it, Djinn are fanfuckingtastic!
I misread r message I got and figured it was time for another round. Wasn't needed! I do plan on picking the book back up, but not quite yet.
@@borednorseman8814 you didn't know this but I was keenly watching your review and held off investing in it myself, another cool book on this line I think is called something like 84 genies of power something like that
I haven't read through the 84 book yet. I've thought about it, but would need to read some reviews first, I think. Still working my way through the Luban text.@@Mike_Bee11
I do know that you work with them quite a bit. Which material would you suggest?@@Mike_Bee11
@@borednorseman8814 I really Baal Kadmons "How to bind the djinn and make them do your bidding ". Not that I am an advocate for enslaving entities no, but many of the binding techniques presented there can be applied in consentingvcircumstances also
