Palliative Care & Parkinson's
Join us for a conversation about palliative care. Also known as supportive care, it is a holistic approach that addresses physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs and can help improve the quality of life for individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their families.
Dr. Jessica Besbris completed her neurology residency at UCLA in 2015 and her palliative care fellowship at the West Los Angeles VA in 2016. She is board-certified in both Neurology and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, where she provides inpatient and outpatient palliative care consultation to persons living with serious neurological disorders, and serves as Director of Neuropalliative Care.
Emily Downing-Mahli is an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Care, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner who completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and Master of Science in Nursing at UCLA. Her career includes managing high-risk patients during post-acute hospitalization, a successful pilot as a post-discharge visit nurse practitioner to reduce hospital readmissions, and a broad range of experience in older adult care from wellness to end-of-life care in various settings. In her current role at Cedars-Sinai, Emily provides outpatient neuropalliative care to persons living with serious neurological disorders.

I don't use the Parkinson's drugs. I've had Parkinson's for 14 years. I got to stage 3 and reversed back to almost no symptoms at all.
I would like to know how how its possible. 😊😊
@@kamalakshasalian8462 Accidentally stumbled on using using high dose Nicotine which reversed most of my symptoms. Then started using low dose Methylene Blue and my tremors went away. I also use the high dose vitamin B1 therapy,, Glutatione (carefully) and various other supplements combined wit a Carnivore diet.
@@kamalakshasalian8462 About four years ago I was starting to rapidly decline,, things were getting worse,, more symptoms started to appear. One of those symptoms was my appetite,, I was hungry all the time. So I researched for appetite suppressants,, found the oldest suppressant,, Nicotine. Did research on pure nicotine,, amazed at all the health benefits and found that it had been studied for use on Parkinson's. Started using nicotine patches,, the results were amazing! Not only did my appetite improve,, a lot of my other symptoms either improved or completely went away. The nicotine patches were expensive and would irritate my skin,, so I switched to using the nicotine pouches you put between your cheek and gum (Product names: Zyn, Velo, On, Lucy, Rogue, ect.) and still occasionally use the patches for muscle tightness. About six months later I started getting a resting tremor in my left hand. Did more research. Started taking low dose Methylene Blue. Haven't had a tremor since. I also (carefully) use Glutathione,, high dose vitamin B1 and other various supplements and I'm also on the carnivore diet.
@@kamalakshasalian8462 Tried to respond,, TH-cam removed my reply,, don't know why.
How please
I'm a treatment resident ocd patient. I've done capsulotomy and sabcaudate tractotomy. But it doesn't work at all. I was gonna do dbs for that. But i'm reconsidering now. I see it as a more troublesome solution besides the cost!😔
